Bearing the Suffering of All Beings at All Times, Thus Inviting the Presence of Amitabha Buddha
Heart, Vows, and Actions Follow Amitabha, Spreading Throughout Space and the Dharma Realm
We live in what the sutras describe as the Five Turbidities and Evil World. In such an environment, the process of purification is not an easy task. It is a world where external distractions and internal afflictions constantly pull us away from our true self. To seek and rediscover one's original nature in such a setting is an even greater challenge, requiring immense patience, sincerity, and unwavering focus.
Because the path is so difficult, Shakyamuni Buddha offered his earnest instructions to all beings. He did not speak once or twice; he repeated his guidance again and again, with the deepest concern for our liberation. Why did the Buddha repeat himself so often? It is because he hoped that we would truly take his words to heart and integrate them into our daily lives. He provided us with a clear roadmap in the sutras, detailing exactly how we should live, how we should practise, and how we should conduct ourselves to avoid the pitfalls of this world.
The Buddha’s teachings are a compass for our existence. He clearly distinguished between what is appropriate for a practitioner to do and what must be avoided. To walk the path of the Truth, one must be discerning:
In this defiled and evil world of suffering, we must be diligent in overcoming our various personality flaws, deep-seated habits, and the impurities that cloud our minds. It is only through the process of diligent practice and enduring the hardships of self-correction that we can strip away these layers of defilement to reveal our true, original nature.
Only when we have successfully removed these impurities can our chanting of Namo Amituofo become truly effective, allowing us to enter the Western Pure Land. This is the earnest hope and expectation that Shakyamuni Buddha holds for every one of us. He wishes for nothing more than for us to leave suffering behind and find the eternal happiness of the Pure Land.
Today, this hope is being realised here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. This sacred space is designed to assist you in turning these teachings into reality. It provides the environment, the guidance, and the community support necessary for you to succeed in your practice. My dear disciples, you must be diligent in your practice. Do not let this precious opportunity slip through your fingers. You have encountered a magnificent affinity in this human life; do not let it go to waste. Fulfil the earnest instructions of Shakyamuni Buddha, and let your journey lead you home to the Western Pure Land. Namo Amituofo.
