During the First Session of the , we gather in a space filled with the infinite light of the Buddha. It is a profound assembly where the of permeates every corner. Yet, within this very same space, we witness a heartbreaking contrast: while the light of the Buddha shines with boundless brilliance, there are countless suffering beings who are lost in the darkness, desperately seeking .
How is it possible that beings existing within the same space can experience such vastly different realities? Some dwell in the light of peace, while others are trapped in the shadows of agony. The answer lies entirely within the heart. The heart is the master of the individual, the sovereign ruler of one's own destiny. It is the heart that dictates whether one experiences the world through the lens of meditative concentration, , and peace, or through the turbulent waves of restlessness, agitation, and anxiety. You have the power to decide the state of your own heart.
In this complex and ever-changing environment, how can you maintain a heart that remains untouched by external influences? How can you preserve a heart that is pure and unstained? This is the primary direction of your practice. When your heart is still, you can see the truth clearly; when your heart is pure, you are closer to the of Ultimate Bliss.
If you can walk firmly upon the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way and remain receptive to the teachings of the Buddha, then the state of being an awakened being is within your reach. However, if you choose to stray from the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way and refuse to follow the guidance provided, then the realization of your true self will remain a distant, unreachable dream. The choice is yours to make, and the time to act is now.
To all the students of Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, you are truly fortunate. You have been provided with a pure environment for growth, a compassionate teacher to guide you, and a precious Dharma affinity that is rare to encounter. You must cherish these conditions. Use this environment wisely, follow the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way with diligence, and work to find back your precious true self and your original . Do not let this opportunity pass you by, for the path to Buddhahood is paved with the sincerity of your practice.
