Bearing the Suffering of All Beings at All Times, Thus Inviting the Presence of Amitabha Buddha
Heart, Vows, and Actions Follow Amitabha, Spreading Throughout Space and the Dharma Realm
During the first session of the , we are reminded of the profound importance of aligning our hearts with the natural flow of the universe. This teaching, recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, offers us a timeless perspective on how to navigate the complexities of our spiritual journey.
To follow nature is to be in complete harmony with the Truth. When you truly follow nature, you are in sync with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. In this state of being, there is no room for harm, no room for force, and no room for dissatisfaction or anger. It is a state of pure, unadulterated acceptance where the heart remains undisturbed by the external conditions of the world.
Consider the nature of a river as it makes its way toward the ocean. The river does not struggle against the landscape; it follows the path laid out before it. If the riverbed is straight, the water flows straight. If the path curves, the water curves with it. The river does not complain, nor does it express dissatisfaction with the turns it must take. It does not require constant supervision or reminders to keep moving, because its very nature is to flow. It is naturally inclined to move forward, and it does so without hesitation or resistance.
My dear children, your spiritual practice should be exactly like this. To practise is to follow and to listen. You must follow the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, and you must listen to the teachings of the Teacher. When you align your actions with these sacred principles, you will naturally move forward on your path without encountering unnecessary obstacles. Your progress becomes as inevitable and as smooth as the flowing water.
Even when a river encounters a great stone in its path, it does not stop. The water strikes the stone, and for a moment, there is a splash of spray. Yet, once the spray dissipates, everything returns to a state of calm, and the water continues its journey along the riverbed. The intensity of the encounter depends on the speed of the flow:
This is the power of a steady, focused mind. Your practice should be defined by this same quality. When you remain in a state of calm, free from the waves of emotional turmoil, you are truly following nature. It is through a heart filled with contentment and gratitude that you manifest this state of stability, allowing you to leave suffering behind and find true happiness.
