Namo Amituofo's discourse:
When the three souls are at peace, finds true balance. These three souls reside within the body, and when they are stable, one can truly take charge of one's life. Through the continuous practice of the Buddha's teachings, we purify our Body-Mind-Spirit. By focusing solely on the Buddha-name without allowing other thoughts to intrude, we receive the benefits of the and achieve a state of purity.
To uphold the Precepts is to uphold the three souls. If the Precepts are lost, the three souls are also lost. Therefore, the Precepts serve as the most effective medicine for protecting the spirit. We must understand that the Precepts are not merely rules, but a vital shield for our spiritual essence.
When the three souls are present and intact, one's consciousness remains clear. This clarity allows the practitioner to deeply absorb the Buddha's teachings and listen to the sutras with a receptive heart. Through such diligent practice, there is a genuine hope of seeing one's true nature. Conversely, when the three souls are lost or scattered, the consciousness becomes fragmented. In such a state, it is difficult for the teachings to penetrate the heart and influence one's actions, making it nearly impossible to progress in diligent practice or realise one's true nature.
You must protect your souls just as you would protect your physical body. To do this, you must cultivate a righteous heart that is free from selfishness and obsession. This is the essence of protecting the three souls through the practice of goodness: do not let your heart be tethered to any person, and do not cling to or obsess over material things or worldly affairs. Maintain a mind that is pure, unburdened, and focused entirely on the path to the . By letting go of these attachments, you create the perfect environment for your spiritual growth and ensure that your journey toward remains unobstructed.
