The Ancient Demon's Eleven Trillion Year Journey

An Interview with the Primordial Demon Mo Hanxuan

Recorded at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre

This is a record of an interview with Mo Hanxuan, an ancient demon who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Nature. This account reflects upon his existence spanning approximately eleven trillion years. Recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on April 14, 2025.

Mo Hanxuan speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Mo Hanxuan. My age is eleven trillion years, though this differs slightly from how we measure time in the Dharma Realm.

The Hierarchy of Ancient Demons

In the Dharma Realm, we do not count days. We distinguish seniority by our appearance. Those of us who are entirely black—a black that shines with an intense, deep lustre—are ancient demons who have existed for trillions or tens of trillions of years. This figure of eleven trillion years accurately reflects my age, and it carries some weight. It is consistent with the reality of my existence. In the Dharma Realm, I truly have demon kings, demon children, and demon grandchildren scattered everywhere. They are not limited to the Dharma Realm; they have spread across various spaces, each developing according to their own nature. This is a common occurrence among ancient demons and their juniors.

Initially, under the arrangement of a demon king, I was deemed ready to be independent. Once I matured, I began to absorb my own demon children and grandchildren, eventually becoming a demon king myself. I led with great success because I did not compare myself to other demons; I compared myself to my own past. I demanded progress from myself, never allowing for regression. This is what we call self-discipline. Generally, demons who possess self-discipline and self-restraint achieve higher levels of attainment than those who do not. This is true when viewing the development of the demon crowds as a whole.

Witnessing the Great Explosion of the Dharma Realm

After I established my own domain, my descendants spread throughout the Dharma Realm. By that time, my demon age was already quite advanced—roughly seventy or eighty trillion years! In truth, the difference in numbers matters little to me now, as it is all in the past. However, for humans, a difference of ten trillion years is significant, is it not?

I witnessed the Big Bang of the Dharma Realm. It was a truly heart-stopping event that altered the entire space of the Dharma Realm. This change in space was the primary cause of damage to countless creatures and life forms. That explosion caused a massive transformation in the forms of life. I saw it while in a deep meditative state: many life forms were heading toward destruction and injury; it was as if no life remained. Many planets fell, and the universe seemed to turn into a vast ruin. Yet, in the darkness, there existed some very faint life forces. Looking back now, there is always a time for rebirth.

The Sorrow of Shattered Spirits

Later, I began to see planets appearing one after another, and those faint life forces regenerated. This situation is quite sorrowful. You must understand that among those beings were many who were once my subordinates, trusted confidants, or excellent demon followers I had cultivated. They all lost their spiritual lives in that explosion. Where did they go? Their spirits were left without bodies; the spirits were shattered, split into tiny molecules—much like what you humans describe as the dispersion of the three hun souls and seven po souls.

Spirits in such extreme terror often suffer immense damage. While they can recover—no matter how torn a spirit is, it can be restored—to my knowledge, it requires immense energy. Even now, many spirits remain scattered throughout the Dharma Realm. Their suffering is visible in the withered state of every part of their shattered spirits. Because they do not die, they still possess a very faint sense of feeling. However, they cannot act, nor do they have a spiritual form. They can only wait for the day when their scattered parts can gather again to become a complete spirit, to live and act once more. This is their greatest wish.

The Miracle of Spiritual Integration

It has been about ten trillion years since that event. I saw it in my meditation, which is why I can describe it now. If I had not seen it in meditation or sought to understand it, those days would have simply passed by.

Now, I look back at those shattered spirits. In the recent great shock brought to the demon realm by Practitioner Su, these spirits have been integrated due to the illumination of the Buddha-light. This is truly wonderful news! Spiritual nature is neither born nor destroyed; the spirit of a demon is the same. However, for spirits that have suffered such extreme damage, the chance of finding an opportunity to recover is incredibly slim.

I have seen many whose spirits were integrated when Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su shone their great light throughout the Dharma Realm. I congratulate them! This is a rare occurrence. Here, I also offer my to these demons. After all, demons also possess a true self. Having gone through such tragic experiences, perhaps they too will be sent to the Western Land of Dharma Nature and have the opportunity to become a Buddha. This can be considered a blessing born from misfortune—the result of the blessings they cultivated in the past.

The Discipline of the Unmoved Mind

The Mo Hanxuan who speaks now truly carries , which is different from my past self. In the past, even if I knew the other party was pitiable, I would not continue to think or speak about it. If I did, I would stir my own mind and be sucked away by the laws of and cause and effect. That is no joke; it is my own spirit that would suffer the pain and retribution. I had to stop immediately. Therefore, a skill that all ancient demons of over ten trillion years possess is to see without seeing, to hear without hearing, and to absolutely never move the mind. Once the mind is moved, it is easily targeted by the laws of karma and sucked away. That pulling force is incredibly powerful and impossible to resist. Every ancient demon knows this; no demon dares to resist the power of this natural law.

When I first began to do evil, I feared nothing and could commit all sorts of bad deeds. As I grew older, seeing the suffering and sorrow of the lives harmed by demons stirred that tiny bit of compassion in my heart. After this happened once, twice, three times, I felt it was dangerous. Once such compassion is stirred, one is easily defeated.

Sometimes, demons show no mercy to other demons. Such situations often result in mutual destruction, or one side retreats while the other advances. Naturally, the one who retreats must tuck their tail and find a small place to hide. The one who advances can hold their head high and expand their territory, which is a form of glory. But think of how many lives were sacrificed in the process! They do not die, so I should say, think of how many lives were withered and vanished from the demon realm. However, withering is still better than being sucked away by the laws of karma, though a shattered spirit is not much different.

Reflections on My Eleven Trillion Years

In short, why has Mo Hanxuan been lucky enough to live for eleven trillion years? I know one thing: perhaps in my life as a demon king and ancient demon, I was not selfish. I would share good things—things beneficial to the demon crowds—with them, allowing them to find happiness. And these beneficial things were not acts of harming life; that would not be called beneficial. When a demon's heart finds some comfort and , that is the manifestation of their original kindness. The more kindness there is, the less evil there is. In this addition and subtraction, if kindness is increased, the demon nature is neutralized to some extent.

I have so many demon children and grandchildren that I cannot count how many Earths they occupy. It is constantly increasing. Looking at it roughly, it must be at least a thousand Earths, right? Earth is not large; it is much smaller than the planets in our Dharma Realm. Forgive me! I am speaking the truth.

The Power of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre

Yet, such an extraordinary person has appeared on Earth—someone who can go to the Dharma Realm to subdue the demon crowds and who possesses the Western Land of Dharma Nature, providing a place for the demons to go. More importantly, this is a Buddha-land, which has the power to suppress the demon nature of the crowds, allowing them to stay quietly. The older the demon, the stronger their demon nature. Although they may appear calm, their meditative concentration is formidable. To make them behave, or even to transform their personality, is not an easy task. They have not changed their personality; their personality is simply suppressed by their meditative concentration.

Therefore, to suppress the personality of an ancient demon, one's meditative concentration must be extremely strong—it is also a matter of self-preservation. Of course, many demons who could not suppress their own personalities were sucked away by the laws of karma. All demons know that such an outcome is not good, so they dare not move their minds; they only suppress their personality, which is not the same as changing it. There is a great difference here. This is where demons and Buddhas differ. The meditative concentration of the demon crowds is remarkable; the older the demon, the deeper the concentration, meaning they are not easily influenced by the outside world.

However, once a demon comes out of meditation and their temperament is provoked, their personality will return to its original state. As for changing one's personality, it is not easy for demons to achieve, unless they have profound injuries and experiences. They must face many choices; otherwise, what power could make a demon change their personality?

Learning the Universal Truth

In terms of Buddha's teachings, one can have a deep vow of compassion. To save beings and also to save oneself, one must change one's personality—if you do not change, you must change. This is like what we see right now: several members of the fourfold assembly are still working hard to change their personalities. I bless you and hope you succeed. If this is not accomplished in this lifetime, it must be done in the next. If it is not done in the next, it must be done in the one after that. As long as one wishes to achieve success in the Buddha's path, changing one's personality is inevitable. This is just like in the demon realm, where having profound meditative concentration to avoid being found by the laws of karma is inevitable. If you cannot do it, you are sucked away. In terms of Buddha's teachings, if you cannot change your personality, you have no choice but to suffer through birth, aging, sickness, and death, and continue in the cycle of rebirth! This is the truth I have recently learned in the Land of Dharma Nature, which is called the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.

Our ability to learn is quite strong because we can enter deep meditative states for so long. Whatever we want to learn, we can learn quickly; we never forget what we see or hear. Therefore, we know that the Western Land of Dharma Nature where we are now is a truly rare place. In eleven trillion years, this is the first time I have encountered such a place where demons can stay quietly. Furthermore, the illumination of the Buddha-light brings peace and reliance to everyone's heart, allowing everyone to sit down and be willing to listen to the sutras and hear the Dharma. Many were previously deterred by the profound philosophy of the Buddha's teachings, but now, through Practitioner Su's lectures, we can learn how to survive, face the present, and most importantly, understand the importance of chanting Namo Amituofo.

The demon realm and the Buddha's path are two extremely different roles and lives. I am fortunate to have encountered this, so Mo Hanxuan cherishes this opportunity greatly. When I was seven or eight trillion years old, I had the thought of retiring. This is a common phenomenon among ancient demons. So-called retirement means no longer appearing in groups and living in seclusion; this is almost a fixed pattern for the life of an ancient demon. Of course, many ancient demons continue to stay in the demon realm with great courage; they are willing to bear the risk of being sucked away by the laws of karma at any time. I admire this point.

However, I, Mo Hanxuan, felt it was time to hand over the world I had built to the juniors to manage. How they manage it depends on their own destiny. Some fail, and some succeed. Failure means their demon groups disperse and split. Success means they absorb more demon children and grandchildren and stand firmly in the demon realm. I have seen too many of these situations, so I can accept these changes very calmly. If I had not been in meditation, I would not have seen these subsequent changes. That was shortly after I entered meditation, but I soon returned to meditation.

Survival Within the Flames

At that time, when I decided to retire at seven or eight trillion years, I found a place where I would not be disturbed or found. Deep inside the crust of a planet, there are not only ice palaces but also very hot flames. This is because every planet has different attributes, so the geology, surface, and internal lifestyle are all different. I left my planet and came to another planet—a planet of fire. I do not fear heat, so I entered meditation within this fire. Have you ever heard of a demon who can survive in fire? That is me. Can you imagine it? Because of the demon nature in my body, I extinguished much of the heat of the flames, so I entered meditation inside layers of fire.

While in meditation, once I entered, I remained completely motionless and could stay for three or four trillion years. I have not carefully measured how many trillions of years it was. When I was seven or eight trillion years old, I found the fire planet to enter meditation. Entering meditation in fire is very rare.

As for the Big Bang I mentioned earlier, I was in meditation at that time. The crust of that planet split, which stirred me in my meditation. There was a time when I was in great danger, but I survived because the fire still existed, providing enough heat to supply my demon spirit and allow me to continue existing. At that time, I knew that outside the planet, many places had frozen into ice. In the extremely cold ice, spirits can be frozen. If there is energy to melt the ice, the spirits inside can awaken.

The Greatness of Buddha-Light

I would like to mention in passing that I can now see the places where the Buddha-light of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su passes through the Dharma Realm. There are many spirits that became frozen planets during the Big Bang; under the illumination of the Buddha-light, the ice melts, and many spirits awaken. I truly congratulate them; it is not easy at all! Many of these spirits illuminated by the Buddha-light are also brought to the Land of Dharma Nature.

This Land of Dharma Nature is truly a magnificent and miraculous place; it contains all kinds of spirits. I see now that these saved spirits are not only demons but also the citizens of many planets. In that Big Bang, they were frozen by ice, and their spirits could not move. Under the illumination of the Buddha-light, they came alive and were sent to the Western Land of Dharma Nature by the . This is too lucky! Being sent here is equivalent to being in a place where one can become a Buddha. Being sent here from such a frozen place to become a Buddha can be considered a blessing born from misfortune; it is truly inconceivable! The lives saved by Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su are not only ancient demons, primordial demons, and demon kings, but also the citizens of planets. The power of the Buddha-light is truly great! Spirits in extremely hot and extremely frozen environments have all obtained liberation.

I entered meditation in the fire, and after entering, there could be no mental activity. Until recently, after the Buddha-light of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su passed by, the fire that originally had some heat actually extinguished. This is truly different. That extinguishing and the drop in temperature were actually dangerous for me, so I had to come out of meditation.

Regarding the Buddha-light, I discovered a special point: for hot places, the Buddha-light lowers the temperature, allowing the beings in the heat to awaken; for frozen places, it gives the ice warmth, allowing the beings inside the ice to awaken, making the surrounding environment reach a balanced temperature. This is very consistent with the Buddha's position of saving beings. Therefore, the Buddha-light can automatically regulate the temperature of the environment and the beings, and the source of the regulation is the energy in the Buddha-light. It is no wonder that people like to be blessed by the Buddha's power, because the Buddha's power cannot be separated from the illumination of the Buddha-light.

Finding Refuge in the Western Land of Dharma Nature

After several Dharma assemblies, the situation we see in the Western Land of Dharma Nature is exactly this. Therefore, it is truly wonderful to have a Buddha present! All life is regulated as a result, able to return to a balanced state, allowing the spirit to awaken and bring forth life force. This life force is not the life force of the two extremes of Buddha or demon, but a life force that can stimulate the pure and kind true self within the heart, giving one the opportunity to become a Buddha. It is so good to meet a Buddha! In eleven trillion years, this is the first time I have encountered a Buddha! The Buddha has such great power, and now I have experienced it myself. Such good news should be brought to everyone quickly.

At this moment, I am in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, where I have protection, allowing us ancient demons to express ourselves to the fullest and reveal the kind and beautiful side of our hearts. This is definitely not something that can be heard in the demon realm.

In fact, we are not lonely at all in the Land of Dharma Nature. We also listen to the interview transcripts read by Practitioner Su with great interest. This place of yours is truly special, being able to have the Buddha's words appear, as well as the teachings of the respected Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and being able to interview demon crowds. Both extremes of Buddha and demon can be interviewed; what else cannot be interviewed? Is this the skill of practice? Being able to reveal the truth of the facts for everyone to know allows one to avoid doing evil. No matter how the Buddha teaches, he teaches us to do good. The Western Land of Dharma Nature can give the demon crowds immense security; every demon and being who comes here is filled with joy.

A Warning to My Fellow Demon Crowds

I, Mo Hanxuan, as an ancient demon of eleven trillion years, advise all demon crowds: Practitioner Su is truly saving demons. Every word I say here in the Western Land of Dharma Nature is the truth—real, honest words. You must be able to believe it. We do not need to speak any hypocritical words here; that would be of no benefit to us at all, so the words spoken are true. You must be able to trust this. If you are a demon who can trust an ancient demon, stop using your magic spells immediately! We can see in the Land of Dharma Nature that Practitioner Su, because of the magic spells cast by the demon realm, suffers from dizziness, tinnitus, blurred vision, and cannot walk, yet he still supports his body and walks forward, and he saves a great many demon crowds every morning.

We see all of this. The space of the Western Land of Dharma Nature is open; you can see whatever you want to see, especially the things happening at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, the situation of Practitioner Su's , what everyone is doing, and so on. We can see it all.

The most sensitive part of a demon is reading the mind—reading the other party's mind. This is how we know when to attack and when to defend, and how we have a chance of winning. Therefore, we can clearly read that Practitioner Su is sincerely saving demons. If he were motivated by profit or insincerity, how could he endure such ruthless magic spells from the demon crowds, and still smile and say, "It is very worth it! Otherwise, how could I invite these ancient demons to the Land of Dharma Nature?"

As far as I know, many demons, whether young or old, were sent into the Western Land of Dharma Nature precisely because they cast magic spells on Practitioner Su. They now appear kind, completely different from their previous selves. If Practitioner Su saw this, he would feel immense relief. Your body has suffered, and you have saved these demon crowds; their current situation is developing for the better. I believe this is what a Buddha or who saves beings, a practitioner with great compassion, is most happy to hear. This is the result obtained by paying the price with one's body. It is a good result, and it is certainly not something that a selfish person could do, but something only a Buddha can do.

Practitioner Su's own spirit is very sensitive; his can go to the Dharma Realm to perform Chao Du, while his physical body also performs the work of saving beings. In this way, body, mind, and spirit are unified and harmonious. This is ; this is a Buddha!

The Heavy Consequences of Evil Karma

The purpose of my saying this is to let the demon crowds who hear my words know the role and position of the other party. You should stop when you should stop, rather than blindly casting spells. Regardless of whether you cast spells or not, you are all objects that Practitioner Su wants to save to the Western Land of Dharma Nature, but those who cast spells have created immense negative karma! These negative karma will not disappear just because you have arrived at the Land of Dharma Nature; they still exist. This is because the Western Land of Dharma Nature is too good; it will not allow you to do evil, speak evil, or create evil, so you will not be sucked away by the laws of karma. But if one day you have the opportunity to be a human or to develop great compassion to save beings connected to you, you must be careful then. Every little bit of evil you have done, including the evil causes created by attacking Practitioner Su at this moment, will result in a very miserable retribution!

These are also things I have learned. You can offend anyone, but you must not offend those who save beings. Because the evil causes created this way are too heavy, and the retribution received is too heavy! This is also the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. Honestly, because no one teaches them, demons would not think of such deep things. As a result, they always do whatever they want, leading to great mistakes without even knowing it. Now, I am telling everyone quickly: it is time to stop! Come in and accept surrender! This is a matter of time.

Of course, because I understand the personality of the demon crowds too well, I know that some demons will absolutely not accept it just because I said a few words. Some demons will accept it, and I can feel the change in their minds. I congratulate them on having the opportunity to turn from demon to Buddha. As for those demons who are still obsessed with casting spells, try to see how much strength you have; there are those who will not give up until they reach the Yellow River, of course. Then go ahead and try! Do not blame me for not warning you! I have also fulfilled my responsibility as an ancient demon educating the juniors.

The Price of Interfering with the Dharma

I heard the Buddha mention before that demons who cast spells to attack the head will become dull and stupid. Do you want to be a stupid demon? Those who attack the eyes will become blind, unable to see. Do you want to be a demon who cannot see anything? This is something that cannot be sustained in the demon realm. Because the demon crowds do not have the compassion to treat those who are defective or need help well. Therefore, they cannot stay in the demon realm; in the Dharma Realm, they will become abandoned spirits who cannot even see, which is truly miserable! Perhaps if they are lucky enough to be saved by Practitioner Su to the Western Land of Dharma Nature, they will not encounter these miserable things. But spiritual life is so long; who knows when you will enter Earth, get a human body, or enter the spirit world? If the retribution manifests, that would be miserable!

In the Dharma assemblies here, the situation of the people disturbed by the demon crowds is indeed very miserable. I also advise the demon crowds who can enter the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre not to carry out demon interference against the fourfold assembly. After all, they are all disciples of the Buddha, and they themselves possess a certain amount of blessings and merits to be able to enter the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Therefore, attacking is always an evil act, creating evil causes. You never know when you will enter the human realm or become a being of another realm, and at that time, you will receive the same interference, unable to practice, unable to achieve success. That is not a joke! It is better to respect the other party now and not carry out interference. This is also what Practitioner Su has appealed to the demon crowds, and I repeat it here once more.

I know that many demon crowds are listening while I am being interviewed. If you have gained benefits, stop quickly. As for other demon crowds who have not heard what I said, if you hear the appeals of other ancient demons who have been interviewed, you should also listen. After all, we are people who have walked the path, and listening is helpful.

Well, I have said too much today, speaking of things I have not spoken of for a long time, and I have also randomly mentioned some things about the Dharma Realm. These are things you have not heard before, and it can be considered a gesture of gratitude after we ancient demons have surrendered. Some of these are things that scientists have not thought of or been able to study, which have been encountered by the demon crowds. I share them with you here. This is the painstaking experience of the demon crowds.

Well, I will report to you up to this point.

Namo Amituofo.
