The Sacred Start of a New Day

How do you begin your day? This is a question that carries immense weight for any serious practitioner. The way you transition from the stillness of sleep into the activity of the morning sets the tone for your entire spiritual journey. Some of us wake up in a rush, hurried and anxious, quickly making our way to the Buddha hall. Others wake to the rhythmic sound of the wooden board or the gentle, resonant chanting of the Buddha-name. Still others wake with a calm and composed mind, taking the time to wash and refresh themselves before beginning their practice. If you can cultivate this sense of composure, then with the passage of time, you will surely achieve spiritual success.

The Discipline of Time

Whether you rise early, right on time, or a little late, your approach to the morning reflects your dedication to your practice. Consider these three ways of beginning:

  • Rising early: This demonstrates that you are well-prepared. You have the time to arrange your day in an orderly fashion, ensuring that every task is performed with .
  • Rising on time: If your situation is good, you must strive to maintain this consistency. Do not allow yourself to regress or become complacent.
  • Rising late: If this has become a habit, you must work to improve it. You must break through this cycle of lethargy so that your spiritual achievements can continue to grow.

The beginning of your day is the time to complete your morning service. This is how you prepare the energy and the spiritual provisions needed for the day ahead. By doing so, you ensure that your spirit remains vibrant and alert, helping you to overcome of being drowsy or lost in the vastness of space.

The Precious Opportunity at Hsiang Kuang

How do we view the beginning of our life? We must learn to grasp the present moment and never let it pass in vain. Life is limited, and time is incredibly precious. At Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, this is even more significant. We are blessed because Namo Amituofo is residing here. This is an opportunity that is difficult to encounter in millions of years.

When the Buddha is present, beings can be saved, practice can lead to success, and there is great hope for rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. When the Buddha is not present, beings remain trapped in the cycle of rebirth, struggling to find a way out, and it is difficult to achieve the success of rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. We must remember that we are among those beings who need this guidance.

Moving Beyond

It is a fundamental principle of being human to take from society and, in turn, contribute back to society. In our practice, we must not be selfish or attached to the ego. If you place yourself first, while placing all other beings and the Buddha second, you are merely following your own fleeting emotions. Under such conditions, it is very difficult for your practice to achieve any real success.

The Path to

How then should you begin your day? It lies in your heart, in your faith in the Buddha, and in the strength of your vow. It lies in your ability to face your true self with honesty. At Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, the Buddha-light shines everywhere. We must put our Faith, Vows, and Practice into action. Do not let a single second pass in vain. Practise with diligence and effort, and you will surely see your true nature and reach Awakening soon.
