Time passes by in a flash, like floating clouds and a light breeze. Year after year, the seasons turn, and we find ourselves moving through the cycle of life with great haste. Have you ever paused to consider the nature of your journey? The opportunity to learn the Buddha's teachings is not always available to everyone. If you have not cultivated the necessary , you may find that even if you wish to chant the Buddha's name, you are unable to do so. You may seek the path, yet find it remains just out of reach.
It is often in a moment of apparent coincidence that we discover the message of the . A single thread of connection pulls us into the Buddha's gate. If you have not cultivated merit and virtue in your past lives, there would be no such coincidence; there would only be the emptiness of time passing by in vain. You must ask yourself: why have you come into this world in this lifetime? It is certainly not by chance that you have obtained a human body. Whether you have arrived here through the power of your past vows or the weight of your past karma, you must have cultivated the Five and the Ten Good Deeds to have earned this precious human form.
To maintain this human body and continue your spiritual progress, you must uphold the foundation of goodness. This involves a commitment to the following practices:
Have you truly integrated these practices into your daily life? In this lifetime, you must continue to perform these good deeds. Your goal is to save other beings and then return to the of Ultimate Bliss. But ask yourself: if you wish to return, will you be able to fulfil that wish? If you lose your human body in the next life, you will be cast into the vast expanse of the six realms of rebirth, where all spirits must take their share of the consequences of their actions.
The most vital practice you can undertake is to chant the name of and let it enter your heart. When you chant, do not let the Buddha's name leave your mind. Let every thought be a thought of the Buddha, and let every moment be a moment of chanting. By doing this, you walk alongside the Buddha. Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo. This is the greatest form of goodness, and it is the practice of universal dedication. May this immeasurable merit and virtue enter your life, and may you be reborn in the infinite light of the Buddha's land. This message was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
