This is a record of an interview with the demon known as Mo Yu, who sought Spiritual Deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Nature. This account reflects upon his attempts to interfere with Practitioner Su. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on March 24, 2022.

Mo Yu speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am known as Mo Yu, or 'Demon of Desire.' My entire existence is dedicated to controlling the desires of human beings. You see, whenever a person's desires grow, it creates countless vulnerabilities in their body. For us in the Demon Realm, these are like open doors. We can easily slip through any crack and find a place to settle within the human body. Often, we even shift our positions at will, because human desires are constantly changing—every single moment is different.

The Web of Human Ignorance

To be honest, my 'demon children and grandchildren' are spread incredibly wide. Every time I look at my boundless legion of demon offspring, I cannot help but chuckle. I laugh at the ignorance of humanity. Humans think so highly of themselves, always striving to satisfy their own cravings, never realising that behind every single desire, we are there. We are always there, scratching at the human heart. When the itch becomes unbearable, humans desperately pursue what they cannot have. Once they finally obtain it, they feel a fleeting moment of satisfaction, but a day, a month, a year, or two years later, that once-cherished object becomes old and forgotten. They move from obsession to indifference. This is the pattern for so many people, and we simply circle around them, thriving within this cycle of the human world.

Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks traverse the entire Dharma Realm. To us in the Demon Realm, the scriptures he speaks of sound like absolute fairy tales. I simply do not believe that anyone can truly cut off desire, because the scope of desire is just too vast. A single thought is enough to trigger it. Food, drink, material possessions—from adults to children, men and women alike—desire exists everywhere. Therefore, to us, the Dharma that Practitioner Su teaches is impossible to realise. Even if someone were to try, they would eventually fail because of their own hearts.

The Unbreakable Fortress

I, Mo Yu, have been circling this Centre for quite some time. At first, I did not act; I wanted to observe the hearts of the people here and see how they changed. To my surprise, I discovered that besides Practitioner Su, my 'demon children and grandchildren' were already present within the bodies of the fourfold assembly. I was thrilled! I planned to contact them and have them provide me with strategic advice on how to conquer this place. But to my shock, when I tried to extract information from them, I received nothing. There was a barrier surrounding the fourfold assembly. It was the first time in my existence that I could not receive messages from my own kind.

I came closer to observe and found the Dharma protectors surrounding the Buddha-land in tight, impenetrable circles. I could not believe such a situation existed. I refused to believe there was a place that Mo Yu could not conquer, and I certainly did not believe that the concept of 'desire' could be overcome in this Buddha-land.

The Failed Siege

After several attempts, we finally managed to link our thoughts with the fourfold assembly. 'What delicious food do you want? What are you lacking?' We started to plant these thoughts, and ha-ha—these were the targets we could control! Since I could not move Practitioner Su, I decided to make the fourfold assembly unable to concentrate, causing their heads to feel scattered and chaotic. I had my 'demon children and grandchildren' collect as much information as possible, with the ultimate goal of breaking through to the leader, Practitioner Su, and turning this place into a demon den. But my offspring kept reporting back that they could not find any weaknesses in Practitioner Su; they were terrified to get too close. They knew that if Practitioner Su discovered them, we would be finished. We would be dragged away from this place. So, we constantly used various methods to dodge and hide, only revealing ourselves in places where we thought Practitioner Su could not see.

Time passed, and demon after demon came to challenge this place, but the ending was always the same. I, Mo Yu, waited and waited. Finally, a recent group of demons managed to turn Practitioner Su’s eyes red. This indicated that these demons possessed significant skills, so I decided to take a gamble. I thought that by collaborating with them, our chances of victory would be much higher.

Deliverance and Transformation

When we made our move, I never expected to hear Practitioner Su shout, 'Who is the demon interfering with my eyes?' The moment I heard those words, I trembled. I thought to myself, 'What do I do now? Should I retreat immediately?' I looked around, and the Dharma protectors were already glaring at me with fury. I could neither advance nor retreat. I had no choice but to grit my teeth and continue my interference. Then, Practitioner Su struck the large qing, and I was sucked away just like a piece of paper, sent directly into the Western Land of Dharma Nature.

Here, no matter how much I struggle or how hard I try to escape, I cannot get out. I had no choice but to calm my heart and observe. The magnetic field here is incredibly peaceful, completely different from any space I have ever visited. After the purification, I gradually calmed down. I realised that one can feel satisfied without chasing after desires. This is something I never knew. All my life, I used desire to make myself 'happy,' but that was not true happiness—it was merely excessive greed. Now, my mindset has shifted, and I am deeply grateful to have come to this place.

The Buddha has bestowed upon me the Dharma name, Shi Wenlai.

Namo Amituofo."
