The Demon's Confession: From Interference to Awakening

This is an interview with the demon spirit known as Mo Zhang, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Dharma Nature. This account reflects upon his experiences during the attempted conquest of the Mudawan region and his eventual redemption. The interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on June 21, 2022.

Mo Zhang speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Mo Zhang. In the Mudawan region of the Milky Way, there were once Buddhas. The sentient beings on the planets within this region once received the teachings of the Buddha. If one were to calculate the time precisely, it was approximately seventy million years ago.

At that time, the Mudawan region was filled with the flowing sounds of the Dharma. The hearts of the beings on every planet were connected; it was the power of faith in the Buddha that helped them unite their minds. That powerful cohesion allowed the Mudawan region to radiate a strong positive energy field. Many spirits from other planetary systems wanted to come here to seek the Dharma and bring that positive energy back to their own worlds.

The Descent into Darkness

What about the Mudawan region now? Looking out, it is a vast expanse of pitch black. The power of our Demon Realm has invaded. In particular, the team led by me, Mo Zhang, took root and developed within, infiltrating the core of every planet and ensuring these worlds could never escape the control of demonic power.

Why has there been such a massive transformation in the Mudawan region from seventy million years ago until now? It was not caused by the power of our Demon Realm alone. Rather, it was because the beings on these planets began to experience mutations in their later stages, which gave our Demon Realm the opportunity to strike.

What kind of mutation allowed us to invade so thoroughly? It was 'doubt.' This single word, this single thought, this single behaviour—it seems like nothing, harmless, yet it is the greatest vulnerability in practice. It is just like building a skyscraper on Earth; if the foundation is unstable, even if the building is completed, it will eventually collapse due to that instability. This unstable foundation is like the doubt that arises in practice. Once doubt exists, even if one appears dignified, recites grand sutras, or maintains a perfect outward appearance, the entire structure will eventually collapse because of that doubt.

The Spread of Doubt

The ones who first brought 'doubt' into the Mudawan planets were not the original inhabitants, but beings from other systems who came to seek the Dharma. They brought doubt with them, and it slowly influenced the beings of this region, allowing it to spread.

Why did this happen? Actually, one cannot blame these external beings entirely. After I, Mo Zhang, invaded so many practitioners, I discovered that it is because their own firm faith in the Buddha is insufficient that they are easily swayed by the doubt of others. If one has one hundred percent faith in the Buddha and one hundred percent faith in oneself, how could external demonic power interfere? It would be absolutely impossible. It must be that they did not have one hundred percent faith to begin with—perhaps sixty percent faith in the Buddha and sixty percent in themselves. The remaining forty percent created a blurred zone that could be influenced and shaken. As long as the external voice was slightly stronger, these practitioners could be moved. And when a practitioner wavers, if improper thoughts or delusions appear in their mind, they quickly become targets for our Demon Realm to invade. The speed is quite rapid because our Demon Realm is inherently opposed to practitioners.

Returning to the Mudawan region, the beings there in the later stages were precisely because they did not have one hundred percent faith in the Buddha. After large numbers of external beings entered to seek the Dharma, their meditative concentration was disturbed, and they began to question the Buddha’s teachings they had believed in for tens of thousands of years.

The Total Invasion

Our demonic power invaded this region rapidly at that moment. As our power penetrated deeper into the cores of the planets, the interference they suffered became more severe. Their doubt grew stronger, and naturally, their power of faith in the Buddha became insufficient. Very quickly, they were completely brainwashed by us and no longer believed in the Buddha.

When a planet changes from believing in the Buddha to completely disbelieving, a period of great turmoil inevitably follows. During this chaotic period, if the entire planet has no positive force to assist it and is entirely invaded by negative forces, it easily moves toward destruction. Therefore, during this time of chaos, many planets in the Mudawan region were destroyed. There were many instances of massive explosions that shocked surrounding planets and further disrupted the magnetic field of the area. One could feel the intense negative energy of panic, fear, and helplessness everywhere.

This situation lasted for about three to four million years. Recently, our Demon Realm decided to completely conquer all the planets in the Mudawan region, making them all territory of the Demon Realm to be used by us forever.

The Day of Conquest

We calculated the number of planets in this region to be about 150 million. This number had to be divided among 30,000 demon branches. On average, each branch received 5,000 planets. The number was not huge, but at least each branch could have 5,000 more planets as a field for demonic operations.

I was looking forward to the 5,000 planets that my branch was about to receive. I have never been greedy; to me, this number was already quite significant.

On June 15, 2022, of the Earth calendar, our Demon Realm planned to completely conquer the entire Mudawan region. The 30,000 demon branches were to divide the spoils, after which each would plant their flag on the planets as proof of occupation, thereby gaining ownership of those worlds.

When that day arrived, all of our demon crowds arrived at the Mudawan region punctually at the agreed time. Every demon had a joyful expression on their face because they were about to receive their 5,000 planets. I, Mo Zhang, was also there, leading my demon children and grandchildren arranged in a long formation. Because I have so many descendants, my line was very long—so long that the end was not in sight. Every branch presented the same formation, one long line after another, filling the entire Mudawan region.

The Golden Light of the Buddha

The auspicious time was approaching, and the closer it got, the more excited we became. Just one hour before the appointed time, a strange event suddenly occurred.

A massive light appeared across the entire Mudawan region. This light was not ordinary; it was a powerful golden light, a golden light we had never seen before. The demon crowds of all 30,000 branches were stunned. Everyone whispered to each other, asking, 'Where did this golden light come from?' Some demons had not yet reacted, thinking this was a special effect arranged for today's grand event.

Not understanding the nature of this golden light, all the demon crowds dared not move, watching the changes in the light in silence.

We saw with our own eyes that the beings of these Mudawan planets seemed very familiar with this golden light. As soon as the light arrived, they immediately shouted and called for help, and even loudly chanted, 'Namo Amituofo.' This was a sound we had never heard before; we did not know what they were chanting.

However, after they chanted 'Namo Amituofo,' many citizens on the planets moved toward the golden light. While some beings did not leave, their planets were illuminated by the golden light and began to generate energy. The energy constantly increased from zero until the entire planet was filled. These beings cheered loudly, and every face showed a smile that had not been seen for a long time.

We, the 30,000 branches of demon crowds, were all stunned. We said angrily, 'What on earth is going on?'

The Counter-Attack

I, Mo Zhang, have always been impatient. I could not wait like the other demon kings, so I decided to proactively investigate the source of this golden light and then report the results to the other demon kings. I gave an order to my demon children and grandchildren: 'Listen, all my descendants! We have encountered an emergency. As my descendants, you must be braver than the demon children of other branches. No matter what difficulties we face, we must be the first to jump out and handle them. This is the characteristic of our branch: unselfish, courageous, and fearless. Now, everyone, perk up! Prepare to investigate the source of the golden light and attack them. We absolutely cannot let them snatch these 150 million planets and ruin the plans our Demon Realm has made for years.' My descendants all shouted in agreement and response. They were all armed and ready to attack the golden light.

We flew rapidly to the core of the golden light, which was filled with positive energy. As I approached, I immediately felt a familiar sensation. I quickly searched my memory banks and found a memory from seventy million years ago: this golden light was the golden light of the Buddha!

I was absolutely not mistaken, because seventy million years ago, the Mudawan region was radiating this kind of golden light everywhere. At that time, the positive force of the golden light was so strong that demons could not get close, so we could not invade this region. It was only later, when doubt appeared, that the golden light began to weaken. The beings who originally radiated golden light were extinguished one by one because they went from believing in the Buddha to being influenced by doubt, and finally, they stopped believing. When the golden light of the beings was extinguished, the powerful golden light radiated by the entire planet naturally weakened, and finally, under the attack of demonic power, it was completely extinguished, becoming dark planets without any light.

Now, this golden light reminded these beings of how they used to believe in the Buddha. They regained their faith in the Buddha’s teachings and firmly chanted the holy name 'Namo Amituofo.' The golden light that had long disappeared from their bodies was re-ignited by this name.

This was their first time receiving the salvation of the Buddha's power, which helped them escape their predicament at the most critical moment. Therefore, they repented for doubting the Buddha’s teachings in the past. Now, all the beings on these planets knelt to beg for the Buddha's forgiveness. The golden light became even stronger, shining continuously on these planets. They felt the Buddha's compassion and kept chanting 'Namo Amituofo.'

The Confrontation with Practitioner Su

When I saw this scene, I knew things were going badly because the power of faith in the Buddha is strong, and the Buddha's Dharma power is boundless. Once these beings regained their cohesion of faith in the Buddha, our Demon Realm's ability to invade would become extremely limited.

To prevent the situation from becoming what I had foreseen, I immediately told my descendants: 'Quick! Speed up! We must find their demon nature again before these planets completely believe in the Buddha. Now, divide into two groups. One group will stay here to guard the demon nature within the hearts of the beings on each planet. Once you see that the demon nature is about to be covered by the Buddha-nature, you must immediately use demonic power to invade and strengthen the demon nature. You must not let the Buddha-nature overcome the demon nature; if that happens, we will fail. The other group will follow me. We must find the source of the golden light and carry out massive destruction there. We absolutely will not allow them to bring the golden light to the Mudawan region again.' My descendants followed my instructions and quickly divided into two groups to perform their respective tasks.

The group I led followed the golden light rapidly, never letting it leave our sight. The golden light circled in the Milky Way, round and round. In each circle, there seemed to be countless other circles—it was not just one circle, but several circles spinning simultaneously.

My descendants were already stunned. I immediately woke them up: 'Don't be fooled! This is a maze! Silently recite our demon mantra in your hearts, and you will not be bewitched by this golden light!' My descendants followed my instructions, and only after silently reciting the demon mantra were they able to pass through safely.

We followed the golden light to Earth. It turned out that the golden light was emitted from Earth. And the one who brought the golden light into the Milky Way was this Earthling, 'Practitioner Su.'

Upon arriving at the location of Practitioner Su's physical body, we realised that everything we saw in the Milky Way was his manifestation. We were very surprised that a human could realise the Dharma Body. It seems he truly practised the Buddha’s teachings very well to have such skills.

When we learned that Practitioner Su possessed such ability to change the Milky Way, we were even more furious. No matter what, we had to defeat Practitioner Su to preserve the status and dignity of our Demon Realm.

At that time, all my descendants took up their weapons and launched an attack on Practitioner Su. The part we could attack the fastest was Practitioner Su's eyes, so we sprayed a massive white mist at them. That is one of our tricks; using this method, we can make Practitioner Su's eyes unable to see clearly, and naturally, he would be unable to counter-attack. But unexpectedly, Practitioner Su did not need to counter-attack at all. With one command, someone immediately wrote us all out. After Practitioner Su recited our demon names, he struck a black object. That black object, from its original size, instantly became as large as a flying saucer and sucked us all in.

Just like that, we were all sucked into this place called the Western Land of Dharma Nature.

Reflections on the Thrice Yearning Ceremony

After listening to Practitioner Su's teaching, we were very surprised that an Earthling could receive the Buddha's message and speak of the principles taught by the Buddha. Every word spoken was reasonable; it was what is called the 'Truth.'

Some of my demon descendants still possessed a little bit of good roots. After listening to the sutras taught by Practitioner Su, their original inner Buddha-nature was stimulated, and their bodies clearly began to change. The most obvious change was their facial appearance; from their original demonic look, they began to show a hint of the Buddha's flavour. Although it was not yet very obvious, the difference could already be seen, which surprised me greatly.

Unexpectedly, the one most surprised was not me, but my descendants. One of them said in surprise, 'Great King, Great King, your face has changed the most!' I had no idea what my face had become. Only through the descriptions of these descendants did I realise that my Buddha-nature was the most revealed. As they said this, I already felt it. It turns out that when I was listening to Practitioner Su teach the sutras, my heart was actually moved. Because in the past, I had also come into contact with the Buddha’s teachings, but later, due to the interference of demonic power, I was unable to continue my practice and walked into the Demon Realm.

After listening to Practitioner Su teach the sutras, every bit of my past practice emerged from my memory. I was very agitated in my heart, shaking off the demonic nature I had later contracted, which is why my facial appearance underwent such a great transformation.

After listening to several sessions of the sutras, I began to participate in the Dharma assemblies here at Practitioner Su's centre. During the Dharma assembly, the energy was tens of thousands of times stronger than usual. The site was filled with Buddhas and Bodhisattvas from the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and beings from all realms came to seek Chao Du. The boundless Dharma assembly site was crowded with immeasurable and boundless spirits; the scene was truly magnificent.

I watched Practitioner Su once again use his Dharma Body to save beings, never stopping for a single second. No matter how evil the spirits were, Practitioner Su compassionately saved them all. When I saw this scene, I was even more moved. The Buddha does not look at the sins beings have committed in the past; as long as beings are willing to repent and change their ways, he can help them start over and give them a chance to correct their mistakes and be reborn.

It is precisely because of Practitioner Su's compassion and mind-capacity that our Demon Realm can be saved; otherwise, we would only be able to do evil forever, and in the end, like these demon crowds who are already suffering retribution, we would go to various extremely harsh environments to suffer, in unspeakable agony.

Now, the demon crowds led by me, Mo Zhang, are all kneeling on lotus seats to express our gratitude to Practitioner Su, gratitude to Amitabha Buddha, and gratitude to Practitioner Su.
