The Demon's Confession: From Primordial Darkness to the Light
An Interview with Mo Pi, a Primordial Demon of the Dharma Realm
Recorded on March 24, 2026, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre
This is a record of an interview with Mo Pi, a primordial demon who existed for six billion-billion-trillion years before seeking at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Nature. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on March 24, 2026.
Mo Pi speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Mo Pi. I am no longer a demon of the Dharma Realm, nor am I what you would call a 'Chinese demon.' Just recently—perhaps within these last two days—I underwent a complete and total transformation. I have shed my heavy, suffocating demonic form, and now, dressed in clean, white robes, I sit upon a white lotus in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, diligently listening to the lectures of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. The clarity I feel now is something I could never have imagined during my long, dark existence.
Kneeling before the Buddha, I could not help but shed tears of profound regret. Oh, how I regret it! I was once a child with the potential for Buddha-vows, so how did I fall into the path of the demon? It has been six billion-billion-trillion years, and only now have I truly awakened to the fact that I never truly wanted to be a demon. That one misstep led to an eternity of regret. Once you become a demon, there is no turning back; I remained trapped in that path for such a long, agonizing time. This time, I am truly fortunate to have received the help of Practitioner Su. Otherwise, I would still be foolishly believing that I was a 'happy' demon! I spent so long in that state, mostly in a fog of ignorance; only now do I understand what true clarity feels like. It is a feeling of lightness and peace that I never knew existed in the depths of the Demon Realm."
The Abundance of the Western Land
"I cannot help but admire the Western Land of Dharma Nature established by Practitioner Su. It provides us with a purification energy that is so abundant and so comfortable. I spent my entire existence searching for energy in so many places; there was even a time when I lived in a state of energy deficiency, nearly withering away. I never imagined that if one has a single moment of and transforms from a demon into a Buddha, there is no lack of energy at all. Having said this, I am filled with emotion, realizing that my good days in the Western Land of Dharma Nature have finally begun.
Now, Namo Amituofo has called upon me to tell my story, specifically to explain why I participated in attacking Practitioner Su. It is shameful to speak of it. I keep crying because I want to express my deep repentance to Practitioner Su. Seeing that Practitioner Su is still being attacked by so many demon crowds—even this morning, during the Dharma talk, he was under severe assault—is truly heartbreaking. From the perspective of our spiritual eyes, it is a sight too tragic to behold. The physical eyes of humans may not see it, but in the demon realm, we know exactly how many demon crowds are attacking Practitioner Su."
The Scale of the Invisible War
"The attacks we once launched were only a fraction of the whole. It turns out that it was not just us; there are tens of thousands, an immeasurable number of demon crowds simultaneously attacking Practitioner Su. This is something we never realized before. We thought that we were acting on our own whims, interests, pleasures, and temporary resentment, but I never imagined that so many demons of the Dharma Realm, cosmic demons, demons from beyond the heavens, demonic beings, otherworldly demons, and even the demons of the Earth itself were all launching large-scale attacks on of Practitioner Su.
The various demon groups did not coordinate their attacks, so we did not know how many others were involved. Now, as we observe this from the Western Land of Dharma Nature, we see that every time Practitioner Su calculates how many demons are attacking him, he uses the unit of 'how many Earths are attacking.' This unit is truly terrifying. How many demons can one Earth hold? And every time Practitioner Su asks the Buddha for the answer, it is ten thousand or twenty thousand Earths' worth of demons attacking him.
I must say, the number of my own 'demon children and grandchildren' combined does not even come close to the population of a single Earth. Compared to the total number of demons attacking Practitioner Su, we were like small fry; we were not as powerful as we thought. However, what leaves me in awe and repentance is this: how does Practitioner Su, in one single, fragile human body, manage to withstand such massive and ferocious attacks? It is truly beyond my comprehension."
A Millennium in the Middle Kingdom
"Practitioner Su has only one physical body, yet our demon crowds are vast, each possessing high-level magic and each thinking themselves so powerful, yet we could not achieve any lasting effect on a mere human body. I am filled with such guilt and self-reproach! How could we have done such evil things without even a shred of self-awareness? Our mind-capacity is so far removed from that of Practitioner Su. Yet, I see Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su smiling at me. They do not hold my past mistakes against me; instead, they embrace me and my demon descendants with infinite tolerance and have given us such a beautiful place to reside. I want to be honest and confess exactly what I have done.
Well, I, Mo Pi, am an ancient demon of the Dharma Realm. Six billion-billion-trillion years is not a short time. I must have relied on my powerful demonic energy and my own abilities to survive in the demon realm for so long. Perhaps it was all arranged by Causal Conditions. I had such great , yet I squandered them by attacking the Buddha—what ignorance! I recently developed my influence on the land of China. As a great ancient demon, I have traveled far and wide, and I was not originally interested in the planet Earth. Later, I heard that such a small planet could nurture so much life, and that the life forms there were all very special, with unique cultures, customs, species, and races. Compared to our monotonous demon realm, it seemed very rich and colorful, so I decided to investigate.
I settled in China about one or two thousand years ago. It was already a highly organized, great nation. Upon arriving, I found the place very prosperous, with people living in peace and harmony, not worrying about food or clothing. There were farmers, scholars, officials, and merchants—all walks of life gathered together, looking very flourishing. I realized this was a golden age, the peak of the Tang Dynasty, where culture and art were developing brilliantly. Such a brilliant place suited my personality, so I stayed. I met many local demons, and those who were willing to surrender to me became my demon children and grandchildren. We organized a massive system, took root in the land of China, and built countless demon palaces. At that time, our largest concentration of palaces was in what is now Xi'an, then known as Chang'an."
The Golden Age of the Demon Palaces
"Chang'an was truly prosperous. We could control people's actions at will, and there were many places to absorb energy, which made us very happy. We had an endless supply of energy to acquire, moving from one station to another. Those were the golden years for our group of demons; it is a very fond memory. Later, we spent over a thousand years on Chinese soil, right up until the present. During those thousand years, China experienced many events—wars, collapses, and the changing of dynasties—and we participated in many of them. We could always reap benefits from these events, which meant harvesting energy. We did not interfere much with internal policies; we simply took what we wanted and left, letting them continue to fight among themselves. In the end, it was a matter of each taking what they needed. Mo Pi and my descendants lived happily in China for over a thousand years. Whether the Chinese people were happy or sad, suffering or joyful, it had nothing to do with us. When they suffered, we could still harvest things; when they lived well, it was an even greater era for us, as there was so much we could do.
We expanded our system of demon palaces across all of China, especially in famous, historically significant cities. From Chang'an to Luoyang, Beijing, and Nanjing, we had large clusters of palaces, even in border regions like Tibet. I always believed that demon palaces should constantly expand, and my followers were very enthusiastic about building them in their respective locations. I allowed them to manage their own palaces and control the local people, which they were very happy to do. Haha, speaking of Tibet, there is even a demon palace of mine beneath the Potala Palace. To this day, Practitioner Su has not discovered it because I hid it deep underground. Now, of course, I hope Practitioner Su discovers it soon, eradicates it, and allows everyone to return to a normal life. Isn't it better for people not to live under control? Indeed, it is."
The Collapse of the Demon Empire
"Recently, over the past few weeks, I watched as my demon palaces—which had been stable and solid for so many years—began to collapse, disappear, or show signs of being under heavy attack. This gave me a huge shock; I knew something was terribly wrong. My followers either returned to report the situation or simply vanished. I became very worried and started paying attention to what was happening in mainland China. I inquired with other demon factions, and all signs pointed to one source: the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.
Everyone said that Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su frequently come to various parts of mainland China to conduct large-scale Chao Du. I thought, 'No way! Australia is so far from China; how can they come here so easily and take away our demon palaces? What kind of divine beings are they?' It gave me a massive headache. We decided to observe for a while longer before acting. I sent many followers to act as eyes and ears outside the major palaces, watching day and night. I told them: if the surrounding areas are attacked, flee in another direction to avoid being hit. Only after escaping can you return to report the progress. I demanded detailed reports on the source of the attacks and the methods of destruction."
The Futility of Resistance
"After setting up these observers, many followers fled back to report the situation in their respective provinces, cities, and counties. I received reports from Yunnan, Hunan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong, Sichuan, and more. They all reported that their palaces were under severe disturbance—some had collapsed, some had vanished, and others had witnessed the destruction of neighboring palaces. Even those currently safe were in grave danger. I asked them, 'Who is attacking? How can we resist?' They all said the same thing: it is Practitioner Su from the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, bringing Namo Amituofo to shine light across the land of China. Practitioner Su has countless billions of manifestations, and when he sweeps through with the twelve golden lights of Namo Amituofo, the demon palaces vanish into thin air, and the demon children and grandchildren are immediately seated on lotus flowers and taken to the Western Land of Dharma Nature.
After understanding the sequence of events, I felt that disaster was imminent. With Practitioner Su's Chao Du skills, we were left feeling as helpless as if we were unarmed. What were we to do? Shortly after, we received an invitation from other demon factions to join forces and cast spells to attack the physical body of Practitioner Su. I woke up—Practitioner Su has a physical body! That made things much easier. A physical body is so fragile; we thought we could easily destroy it beyond recognition! So, we participated in the action, attacking his eyes, head, throat, and every part of his body. We thought that by participating, we would be safe. Little did we know, after we launched our attacks—attacks invisible to the human eye but ruthless in the spiritual realm—it was all in vain. Practitioner Su had no reaction at all. We were immediately collected into the Western Land of Dharma Nature. Before we could even react, we were all sitting on lotus flowers, looking at each other, realizing we had all ended up here together."
A New Path of Righteousness
"This is a brand-new world and a brand-new life, with the Buddha-name of Namo Amituofo playing at all times, along with Practitioner Su's Dharma talks twenty-four hours a day. At first, we struggled to accept everything, feeling sad and helpless, reluctant to part with our identity as demons. But after listening to the sutras and hearing the Dharma, we found that we were living a very carefree life. Most importantly, after purifying here for a short time, we truly understood what the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way are. We realized we had been violating them all along without knowing it.
Speaking of this, I am filled with nothing but gratitude. I do not want such things to happen again. I hope Practitioner Su can continue to save beings for a long time and no longer needs to worry about demons like us who cast spells on him. One day of Practitioner Su's Chao Du can save immeasurable, boundless demon beings like us who were ignorant and committed wrongs. I represent all the demon crowds in expressing my deepest gratitude to Practitioner Su. Without your great vow, where would we all go? It would be truly painful, though few can understand this truth. We walked the path of the demon because no one taught us, and we never received true Buddhist education. Since we have met Practitioner Su, such a great figure, why not follow him and work together to save sentient beings?
Transforming from a demon to a Buddha happens in a split second! I have transformed, so can I not become a Buddha? Yes, I still need to undergo training, but my character is now pure and kind, and I sincerely want to contribute to the propagation of the Buddha's teachings. I, Mo Pi, am speaking these words so earnestly today to let the world know, and to let all the demon crowds who are still casting spells on Practitioner Su know, that attacking Practitioner Su is the most wrong thing one can do. We will all eventually have to leave the demon realm and step onto the right path; why not come to the Western Land of Dharma Nature sooner? Under such magnificent Causal Conditions, we can use our abilities to help. We can also counsel so many beings like me and tell them the importance of surrendering to Practitioner Su! Do not commit sins that are hard to repay for the sake of temporary pleasure or the satisfaction of your own ignorance and afflictions.
Namo Amituofo.
Mo Pi"
