The Demon's Revelation: The Infinite Space Within the Eyes

This is a record of an interview with Mo Hui, a spirit who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Dharma-Nature Land. This account reflects upon his transformation under the guidance of Practitioner Su. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fa, on April 4, 2022.

Mo Hui speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Mo Hui. The eyes are a truly mysterious realm, an endless cosmic space. Within the eyes of every person, there are layers upon layers of space. I have gazed into the eyes of countless beings, yet only the eyes of Practitioner Su possess such profound brilliance. This is because Practitioner Su knows how to observe correctly and, more importantly, knows how not to cling to the information that enters the eye consciousness. This is the vital key! Right now, too many people have lost the spirit in their eyes; their gaze has lost its power and vitality. This occurs because people have grown accustomed to fixating on the negative, or perhaps they are absorbing an excess of external information. This clutters their internal eye space with so much impurity that it becomes chaotic, and they themselves are inevitably affected by this disorder.

The Clarity of a True Practitioner

A true practitioner will always possess eyes that are bright and imbued with Wisdom. Just like the eyes of Practitioner Su, it is truly a miraculous and inconceivable thing. When we first saw the eyes of Practitioner Su, we knew immediately that this was a genuine practitioner. We wanted to test just how powerful the skills of Practitioner Su really were. But when we truly looked into the space within the eyes of Practitioner Su, we were met with such brilliant, boundless light that we were truly struck with awe. We realised then that human practice could actually reach such a magnificent state! The eyes of Practitioner Su are an infinite space, an endless expanse of light. We did not dare to harm Practitioner Su; we could only stand there quietly, feeling the energy field of that presence. It turns out that a human being really can cultivate to such a level.

If we had not seen it with our own eyes, we would have found it impossible to believe. Having seen so many different beings, Practitioner Su is the only practitioner we have ever truly respected. In this Five Turbidities and Evil World, where chaos reigns supreme, maintaining a positive heart is an immensely difficult task, yet Practitioner Su has truly accomplished this. Within the eyes of Practitioner Su, we can feel boundless compassion. Practitioner Su truly sees the Goodness in the world and the Goodness in all beings. This kind of cultivation skill requires one to practise inward, towards one's true nature. How many people in this world are capable of doing that?

The Arrogance of the Demon

My name is Mo Hui, which implies that I believe myself to be all-knowing. I felt that I knew everything, and because of this, I often looked down upon others. From the perspective of my own eyes, I always viewed things from a position of superiority, and I would look at others with such arrogance. I believed that I was always right and that everyone else was wrong, simply because I felt that what I knew, others could not possibly understand. I was incredibly arrogant; I only ever saw the faults in others, and I would never trust anyone.

This arrogant posture of mine is something I see in many people today. When a person's eyes are focused on the negative, the gaze they emit is one of arrogance and sharpness, always carrying a sense of scrutiny toward everyone and everything around them. In the eyes of such people, there is always complexity, and their eye consciousness space is actually in a state of chaos. Because they absorb every piece of information and store away all the negative messages, they end up affecting themselves, creating constant interference within their own minds.

A Path to Redemption

I was once exactly that kind of person, so I understand this state all too well. When one has such habits and is not yet aware of them, one is no different from the Demon Realm. One's eyes become like demon eyes, devoid of the Buddha's compassion, light, and Wisdom. I am saying all of this now to see if everyone can take it to heart. Those who can change their ways have the opportunity to cultivate to the same state as Practitioner Su. Practitioner Su is truly a capable person whom I admire deeply.

I know that I am a demon. At first, I felt a deep sense of inferiority, but after coming here, I truly felt the compassion and equality of the Buddha. My heart has gradually been transformed. I know this is the blessing and support of the Buddha's power. I have begun to feel deep remorse for the mistakes I committed in the past, and I sincerely want to change. Now, I have been subdued, and I am willing to join the salvation team led by Practitioner Su. I want to use my own strength to help all beings.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to come here. It was seeing the manifestation of Practitioner Su, as well as the compassionate spiritual manifestation of Namo Amituofo, that allowed my long-wandering spirit to finally settle down and be willing to repent and turn towards Goodness. I will cherish the days I spend practising here. I know this opportunity is not easily won. I will practise diligently, purify myself, and learn to stop looking at the faults of others. I will engage in diligent practice to repay the Buddha's kindness.
