Why do the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, patriarchs and venerable masters, and true spiritual friends repeatedly emphasise the importance of faith in the Buddha? It is because true faith is not easily attained. In this modern age, why are those who have realised their true nature so rare? It is simply because there are so few who possess genuine, unwavering faith in the Buddha. If you wish to realise your true nature and attain Buddhahood through your practice, you must have faith in the Buddha, and this faith must be deep and free from all doubt.
For the teachings found within the sutras, you must accept them with a sincere heart, put them into practice, and work diligently to eliminate your negative . Only then can you achieve the purification of your body, heart, and spirit. Only then can you attain the purity required to enter the path of realising your true nature and attaining Buddhahood.
Faith in the Buddha is a vital condition for progress in your practice. The Buddha serves as a beacon, pointing out the correct direction for every practitioner. He guides those who have lost their way back to the right path and encourages those who listen to continue moving forward toward purification and awakening. When you hold faith in the Buddha, you must never forget to hold firmly to the name of . You should chant one Buddha's name to the end. This is a crucial method for achieving the following:
Faith in the Buddha is not merely a passive belief; it is an active commitment to your own transformation. It manifests in several essential ways:
Many people place their trust primarily in themselves. However, if you have not yet realised your true nature, you remain a being driven by karma. When you rely solely on your own limited perspective—or the perspectives of others—you are merely relying on the manifestations of karma. If your good karma manifests, you may experience temporary happiness and . Yet, if your negative karma manifests, you will inevitably face misfortune and suffering.
When people are dominated by their karma and the manifestation of karma occurs, they are like those being dragged by a powerful, unseen force toward suffering. They walk the path of aging, sickness, and death, circling endlessly in the cycle of reincarnated life, rather than walking the Western path toward liberation from life and death. Because they are so deeply entrenched in this cycle, they naturally find it difficult to believe in the Buddha, and thus, they drift further and further away from Him.
Faith in the Buddha is not easy to sustain, for the Buddha is a being of great wisdom, great ability, and great power. The Buddha's blessings have the unique capacity to help you leave suffering behind and find true happiness. Those who have faith in the Buddha and practise diligently by chanting Namo Amituofo all the way will surely receive the Buddha's blessings. This support will assist you in achieving your goals sooner. This is a skillful means for attaining realisation and ensuring your rebirth in the . The fourfold assembly should cherish this wisdom and make the best use of it.
