The Essence of Sameness in the Pure Land Path

The Two Faces of Sameness

In this world, we often perceive things as either the same or different, and we pursue what we believe we need based on these perceptions. However, there is a fundamental 'sameness' that binds those who have not yet awakened. We are all caught within the currents of karma, drifting through the cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death. This is the shared fate of all beings who remain trapped in the cycle of rebirth, driven by the momentum of their past actions.

The Path to True Awakening

While there are many different Dharma doors for practice, the ultimate goal for every sincere practitioner is the same: to realise one's true self. We practise to save ourselves and to save all suffering beings, so that we may all leave the cycle of rebirth behind forever and be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. The Pure Land Dharma is a path of supreme purity. It guides us from a state of impurity into purity, from purity into clarity, and from clarity into the truth of our own nature. When this truth is revealed, the Buddha nature within you—the Buddha-heart—manifests clearly before your eyes.

Unity in the Buddha-Heart

To rediscover your true self is to align your heart with the heart of Namo Amituofo. When your heart becomes one with the heart of Namo Amituofo, you find that your heart is the Buddha-heart. We gather here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, united in the same Buddha-vow and the same Buddha-practice. With Namo Amituofo and Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju guiding us at the forefront, Practitioner Su and the fourfold assembly of disciples walk this path together as one. We exist for the same purpose: to save ourselves, to save all beings, and to save the world. We work together with a single-minded effort to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Together, we bear witness that the Pure Land is the gateway to a state where the body does not age or sicken, and where the spirit never dies.
