Who, then, can truly be called a teacher? What is the essence of this sacred role that guides us toward the light of wisdom? In the vast expanse of our spiritual journey, we must recognise that the definition of a teacher is far broader than we might initially perceive.
The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are our primary teachers, illuminating the path with their infinite . The patriarchs and venerable masters who have walked this path before us serve as our guiding lights. Furthermore, our true spiritual friends who walk beside us are teachers, and the Three Jewels—the Buddha, the Teachings, and the Sangha Community—are our ultimate teachers, providing the foundation for our practice.

A true teacher reveals the laws of the world and the reality of all things. They guide us to rely upon the Buddha-vow, helping us to make our own vows and put them into practice so that we may attain the fruits of our efforts. Through these teachings, we can develop our true self and our , ultimately attaining Buddhahood in this very lifetime.
To respect for all Buddhas and to praise the Tathagata is to understand a profound truth: whether it is myself or any other being, we all share the same true self-nature. We must view all things as one. Every being is a Buddha, and every being is my teacher. We should treat everyone with respect, offer praise, and learn from them, never causing harm or destruction to any life. This is the heart of the path.
