Bearing the Suffering of All Beings at All Times, Thus Inviting the Presence of Amitabha Buddha
Heart, Vows, and Actions Follow Amitabha, Spreading Throughout Space and the Dharma Realm
The difference between a Buddha and a sentient being lies entirely in the heart. When we look at the nature of our own hearts, we must ask ourselves: are we living from a place of limitation, or are we tapping into the infinite, boundless capacity of the Buddha-heart?
The Buddha-heart is defined by its infinite, boundless inclusivity. It does not engage in discriminations, nor does it judge between good and bad. In this state, the spirit truly takes charge. The Buddha-heart is characterised by several profound qualities:
Within our true self, there is an inherent, inexhaustible capacity for inclusivity. It is a vastness that knows no end, mirroring the very nature of the universe itself.
In contrast, the heart of a sentient being is often trapped by the habit of making discriminations. We constantly pick and choose, creating divisions in our world:
Because we hold onto the concept of an "I," we inevitably suffer from the burdens of "my body," "my ," and "my suffering." These attachments are all limited, and they keep us far from our true self. When we live within these boundaries, we are merely drifting in the cycle of rebirth, unable to find the peace that is our birthright.
To walk the path of the Buddha, we must learn to practise true inclusivity. This is not merely a social grace, but a profound spiritual discipline. It means we must learn to:
By embracing these challenges, we transform our own hearts and create the space for wisdom to manifest.
We must dedicate our body and mind to the service of all beings across the universe. We should emulate the Buddha in every action and thought. When we reach the point where our body and heart are fully aligned with the Buddha-heart, we will find that we have merged with the universe itself.
In this state of unity, the Buddha is within the universe, and the universe is within the Buddha. There is no longer a distinction between the two. This is the ultimate goal of our practice: to leave suffering behind and find true happiness by returning to the boundless, inclusive nature of our original, true self.
