The Compassionate Vows of Practitioner Su

The heart, vows, and actions of Practitioner Su are entirely in accordance with the great vows of Namo Amituofo. By following the Buddha’s path, Practitioner Su is able to save countless suffering beings. To rescue these beings, Practitioner Su has endured the pain of physical injury, paying a significant price, yet this very sacrifice has moved Namo Amituofo to manifest in the human world. The former Hsiang Kuang Room was renamed the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre following the direct guidance and instructions of Namo Amituofo. This was a monumental turning point, and it was truly a difficult and sacred achievement.

A Journey of Transformation

I am Kailin, and I have come from the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Today, I am filled with immense to be able to visit the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. Transitioning from a worldly life into the life of a practitioner is a journey of two very different paths. I once travelled to mainland China because of my affinity there, and under the guidance of my teacher, Venerable Master Chin Kung, I went to connect with the faithful. I resided there for a period before returning to the Pure Land Learning College and the Pure Land societies in Australia.

It was during that time that I fell ill, which became another turning point in my monastic life. When I tasted the suffering of illness, I realised how difficult it truly was to endure. Although my fellow monastics cared for me with all their hearts, the time had come for me to depart from this world, and when my breath stopped, I bid farewell to the human realm. I am grateful to my fellow monastics who later held Dharma assemblies to perform for me, yet at that time, I did not attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land.

The Path to True

I later came to understand that throughout my accumulated lifetimes, I had left the home life many times and had made vows to chant the name of Namo Amituofo to be reborn in the Western Pure Land, yet none of these wishes had been fulfilled. It was only through the salvation of my teacher, Venerable Master Chin Kung, that I was able to reconnect with the Pure Land Dharma Gate. I felt that I was practising diligently, even engaging in the practice of not lying down to sleep at night. I went to the Hsiang Kuang Room, and under the guidance of Practitioner Su, I practised for a period of time. It was then that I realised one must practise in a down-to-earth manner, chanting Namo Amituofo twenty-four hours a day.

The practice of not lying down is meant to overcome the greed for sleep, but the true focus must be on maintaining a long-term, stable state of Buddha-recitation. One must be able to listen to the sutras with a focused mind, free from or agitation, for otherwise, these obstacles will hinder one's practice and prevent rebirth in the Western Pure Land. Upon the suggestion of Practitioner Su, I began to lie flat when sleeping, which allowed me to find liberation in both body and mind. This is something that only those with open eyes can discern and guide accurately.

The Power of Spiritual Deliverance

Later, Practitioner Su, with great , learned of my passing and, during a , guided my spirit into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I remember how quickly it happened; in the blink of an eye, I stepped into the Western Pure Land. I remember that there was an interview at that time, and my heart was filled with a myriad of emotions. I hope that everyone can believe and come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to witness that one does not grow old, does not get sick, and that the spirit does not die. This past experience fills my heart with deep gratitude. Even then, Practitioner Su already possessed the ability to lead the spirits of the deceased into the Western Pure Land. This is not an ability possessed by ordinary people; one must be diligent in practice and have realised one's true nature to possess the freedom to travel to and from the Western Pure Land.

I must speak the truth. Over these years in the Western Pure Land, I have seen Practitioner Su at the weekly Thrice Yearning Ceremonies at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, leading spirits to the Western Pure Land. This is the spiritual deliverance performed for the living, where Practitioner Su guides the spirits into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is something I have witnessed with my own eyes in the Western Pure Land; it is vast and immeasurable.

Transcending Space and Time

The countless manifestations are a state of the spirit, emerging from the crown of the head to perform spiritual deliverance. Practitioner Su possesses both the and countless manifestations. Many years ago in Taiwan, Practitioner Su used the Dharma Body to perform spiritual deliverance, helping infinite beings attain rebirth in the human and heavenly realms or in the Western Pure Land. Today, life in the Western Pure Land is different from life in the human world. To me, it feels as though I have only just arrived, yet in the human world, several years have already passed. This is truly the difference between one space and another.

Only by truly believing in the Western Pure Land and following the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way in every detail can one break through the barriers of space. Practitioner Su, who travels freely to and from the Western Pure Land, possesses the ability to penetrate space and follows the teachings of the Infinite Life Sutra with absolute devotion. The Buddha-land, such as the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, is where the Dharma Body of Namo Amituofo resides, and its level of purity is beyond description. Therefore, such spiritual skill—to arrive wherever one steps—is something that only those who have realised their true nature or are Buddhas and Bodhisattvas can achieve.

A Call to the Pure Land Community

Some may ask: Who is Kailin, and why should we believe what you say? I am a being of the Western Land. Whether you believe it or not is up to you, but I must speak what I have to say. After all, it is through the grace of Namo Amituofo and the guidance of Practitioner Su that I am able to be interviewed by the monastics of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre while residing in the Western Pure Land. Over the years, I have seen the growth of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre from the Western Pure Land, and it is truly not an easy task. Sentient beings are suffering immensely, and the Buddha’s compassion covers this place.

The heart, vows, and actions of Practitioner Su here are in accordance with the Buddha’s vows, following the Buddha to save countless suffering beings. Practitioner Su takes on the suffering of beings to save them, and despite the pain of leg injuries, has paid a great price, which has moved Namo Amituofo to manifest in the human world. The former Hsiang Kuang Room was renamed the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre following the Buddha’s instructions, which was a major turning point. In the Western Pure Land, we can see that because Namo Amituofo is residing here in Australia, the Buddha-light shines everywhere, and the headquarters of the Pure Land school is being built. In truth, wherever Namo Amituofo is, that place is the Pure Land—the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

The Importance of Opening the Heart

The temple is currently compiling an introduction to "Namo Amituofo Residing at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre," and so Practitioner Su has invited those of us who were led to the West years ago to be interviewed. This makes me feel very happy and honoured. After all, in the human world, the Pure Land Learning College and the Pure Land societies were once my home. Monastics should take the temple as their home, but ultimately, one must enter the Western Pure Land, for the West is the ultimate place to become a Buddha. I sincerely hope that the college and the societies can open their hearts and re-evaluate Practitioner Su—a capable person, a saviour of beings, and one who has realised their true nature.

Now, in the spiritual realms, everyone respectfully addresses Practitioner Su as Su Fo. Practitioner Su deserves respect, and it would be appropriate to come and seek the Dharma. Since Practitioner Su has realised their true nature, they certainly have the ability to cultivate others to also realise their true nature. Now is a great time for monastics who aspire to realise their true nature to visit the temple and practise, because Namo Amituofo is residing at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Here, the words of Namo Amituofo and the teachings of Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju are something that we in the West, and even the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the West, must respectfully listen to. We also participate in the Thrice Yearning Ceremonies, because Namo Amituofo leads the ceremony, and the thirteen generations of Pure Land patriarchs and various venerable masters are all gathered around Namo Amituofo to participate.

The Rarity of This Opportunity

Participants can hear the teachings of Namo Amituofo and the teachings of Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, which is a very important part of the ceremony. Have you ever heard of any other place where one can hear the teachings of Namo Amituofo and Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju? I believe that in the human world, apart from the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, there has never been such an opportunity to hear these teachings. This is truly a great blessing for the human world. The affinity of Namo Amituofo pervades the entire Dharma-realm and empty space; it is certainly not limited to Australia or Taiwan.

This can be understood through the spiritual deliverance performed by the countless manifestations of Practitioner Su or through Dharma-Body Visualisation Deliverance. The interviews at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre are very rich and diverse, and the interviews with demon crowds are especially fascinating. If those outside have the affinity, the college or the societies can also come to visit. After all, the heart of one who has realised their true nature is vast and boundless, and it can certainly encompass everything that happens in this world, including what happens in the vastness of the Dharma Realm. Everything must be included in the Buddha-heart, for the Buddha-heart is boundless and can contain all things.

A Final Exhortation

Under these circumstances, the monastics and lay practitioners of the college and the societies should be able to know, hear, and even believe in the situation of the beings saved and the spirits delivered by the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, on Earth, and in the Dharma Realm. Everyone must open their hearts; the greatest beneficiary will be yourself. Coming to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to pay homage to the Buddha, perform prostrations, and listen to the words of the Buddha and the teachings of Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju will be of immense help to everyone. Furthermore, -Mind-Spirit healing here can treat the aging and illnesses of the body, as many of these problems related to aging, sickness, and death are connected to the spiritual realms—specifically, to the on one's body.

Because Namo Amituofo is residing at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and Practitioner Su has realised the Dharma Body as essence and countless manifestations as function, the temple can resolve conflicts and deliver karmic creditors and family members to the Western Land of Dharma Nature, and now, even deliver spirits directly to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Everyone must know this. This is truly difficult to encounter in millions of years. When have you ever heard of any patriarch or venerable master from ancient times to the present who had such skill in spiritual deliverance, being able to lead beings to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss? This can be confirmed through the interviews, including this interview with me.

I am a monastic, but in the Western Pure Land, I am just one of countless beings of the Western Land. Past events are like floating clouds and a light breeze; to be honest, everyone should not keep the past in their hearts. If you hold onto it, you will suffer a great loss. Practice requires the heart to be empty of all things so that it can clearly illuminate the universe. Therefore, looking back at the past and the present, I sincerely hope that the monastics and lay practitioners of the Pure Land societies and the college can come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to pay homage to Namo Amituofo. This is a rare opportunity in millions of years. The Buddha’s teachings do not distinguish between you, me, or others, but because of the heart, there are distinctions. Because of the discrimination between self and others, or the circumstances encountered, afflictions arise, trapping the heart and creating the distinction between the worldly and the transcendental. A true practitioner enters the world to save beings, living as freely as if they were in the transcendental world. The environment is not the problem; it is the proper adjustment of the heart that is important.

In closing, I sincerely appeal to you:

  • Past events are like floating clouds, let them drift with the wind.
  • It does not matter where they drift.
  • To have an empty heart in the present moment is the most important matter of realising one's true nature.

I am grateful, grateful, and grateful again for the grace of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su in leading me to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I express my deepest gratitude here, and I also deeply hope for my fellow monastics: there is so much we do not know, especially regarding the spiritual realms. Please do not let past events block your opportunity to open your heart and elevate your spirituality. Most importantly, the great matter of returning to the Western Pure Land in this life can be realised for you at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Come back, and you will know.

Very well, my interview concludes here today. Gratitude to Namo Amituofo, gratitude to Practitioner Su, gratitude to the fourfold assembly of disciples at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, and gratitude to my teacher, Venerable Master Chin Kung, as well as my fellow monastics at the Pure Land societies and the college.
