The Illusion of Worldly Emotion

In this world, people often believe that their emotions are solid, lasting truths. You may hold onto these within the palm of your hand, fearing to let go, yet they are merely fleeting phenomena. They exist for only a single moment, like a shadow that appears and then vanishes without a trace, leaving you searching for something that was never truly there. These experiences, whether beautiful or painful, are drawn into your , where they leave deep imprints that can persist for an eternity.

The Storehouse of the Mind

Within your consciousness, a vast array of phenomena and spirits reside. When you call upon them, they emerge instantly, manifesting as the of your life. This is the origin of the laws of and cause and effect. Every result you experience is not a coincidence; it is a reflection of the causes you yourself have planted, down to the smallest detail. When these karmic imprints manifest, you may find yourself overcome by certain states of mind:

  • : A state where your awareness dims, and you lose the clarity of the present moment.
  • Distraction: A state where your mind wanders, pulled away by the seeds of past actions.

When these states arise, you must immediately awaken your true awareness to sever the connection to these karmic imprints. Only by doing so can you find liberation from the cycle of confusion.

The Path to Purification

You must never be complacent, thinking that your thoughts go unnoticed. Even the most subtle, fleeting thought enters your consciousness and contributes to the formation of future karma. You must be the one to bear the consequences of these seeds. If you wish to be pure and free from all attachments, you must ensure that your heart does not hold onto these karmic imprints. When you discover that you have created a negative cause, you must have the courage to face it directly and accept the consequences with a calm heart. Once you have accepted the result, you must change your ways; this is how you achieve true purity. If you do not, these negative causes will continue to accumulate in your consciousness, forming layers of grime that obscure your true self. You will not know when or how these seeds will manifest as future suffering.

Revealing the True Self

It is far better to transform these causes and effects in the present moment. When you do this, your heart will be free from burdens, and you will attain a state of true ease. You must also rely on your affinity to understand this process. When your heart is pure and free from wandering thoughts, your consciousness will naturally transform into a state of purity. In this clarity, you will be able to realise your true self and perceive the Buddha-heart that has always been within you. By chanting Namo Amituofo and maintaining this practice, you will find the way to leave suffering behind and find happiness, ultimately returning to the of Ultimate Bliss.
