The Path Beyond Suffering and Sorrow
An Interview with the Spirit of Lee Kuan Yew
Recorded on June 4, 2018
This interview was recorded on June 4, 2018, featuring the spirit of the late Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew. Seeking deliverance from the cycle of suffering, he visited the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre to share his insights on the nature of human existence and the path to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Lee Kuan Yew speaks:
"The road stretches out for a hundred miles. I look back upon the dust of the world and wonder: where does the heart truly belong? The path to the bright shore is calling. The suffering and sorrow of human life originate entirely from within this heart of ours. Life could be a vast expanse of brilliance, so why do we insist on choosing suffering? Perhaps it is due to our spiritual obstacles, perhaps it is due to ignorance, or perhaps it is simply our own inability to let go. When we face the future and feel only bitterness, it is because we are not viewing it correctly. This subconscious, deep-seated grief is a trap from which we cannot seem to escape.
The Only Exit from the Darkness
Every human life requires an exit, a way to unlock the chains and reignite the dim light within our hearts. This beacon of light is found in only six simple characters: 'Namo Amituofo.' These six characters contain infinite light, capable of washing away every speck of dust within the heart. That dust is something we have carried with us through countless lifetimes. Every one of the fifty trillion cells in our bodies is connected to us by karmic affinity. It is truly a case of 'pulling one hair and moving the whole body.' When these sentient beings with karmic affinity stir, it is enough to make one feel stifled, or even to ignite a fire of agitation within the heart that cannot be calmed for days on end.
The Truth of Our
We are often played like puppets, and this is a truth that many people simply do not understand. These are the karmic creditors residing within our very bodies. Yesterday was the at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. During this magnificent assembly, I saw clearly the sentient beings attached to the bodies of the fourfold assembly. I watched as they chanted Namo Amituofo and attained rebirth. I saw the Western Trinity standing before them, and I witnessed these beings finally willing to let go of their hatred and fly toward the light.
A Gathering of Beings
Spirits from all directions arrived, and their singular purpose in coming was the hope of travelling to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss—a place free from suffering and sorrow, where all the superior beings gather in one place. Namo Amituofo has long been waiting with outstretched hands, offering infinite to all who seek deliverance."
Message recorded by the chief writer, disciple Shi Faxin.
