Bearing the Suffering of All Beings at All Times, Thus Inviting the Presence of Amitabha Buddha
Heart, Vows, and Actions Follow Amitabha, Spreading Throughout Space and the Dharma Realm
During the third session of the , we reflect deeply upon the nature of our aspirations and the direction of our spiritual journey.
In this world, people spend their entire lives chasing after what they seek and what they desire. They expend their time and their very lives, only to gain that which is illusory and marked by impermanence. By failing to look beyond the surface, they allow the cycle of being reincarnated to take the lead, becoming slaves to their own rather than masters of their own destiny.
As practitioners, we must pause and ask ourselves: what is our true vow, and where does our aspiration really lie? A true vow is one that is entirely free from the "self," personal ego, and selfishness. It is a vow made solely for the benefit of all sentient beings. The desire to realise one's true nature is contained within this selfless commitment.
Even when the tests are difficult and the path is arduous, you must continue to move forward. You will inevitably encounter challenges, but you must persevere. Even if the "self," personal ego, and selfishness arise, the ability to correct yourself in that very moment is the mark of true boldness. Let your vows and your practice lead the way, guiding your every step through the darkness of confusion.
The path of practice allows for no slackening. You must be grounded, taking each step with sincerity and diligence. Your vows and aspirations should not be mere slogans hanging on a wall; they must be lived out, step by step, as you make steady progress. Realising one's true nature is not something easily obtained. You must understand the necessity of diligent effort and clear, steady progress. The Buddha-land is rare and difficult to encounter; treat every minute and every second as the essence of your practice. Each of you is a future Buddha. To realise one's true nature and attain Buddhahood is the ultimate fulfilment of your vow.
