The Power of Rain and the Compassion of Practitioner Su
An Interview with Skanda Bodhisattva
Recorded on 15 December 2020
The Manifestation of Chanting Power
Recently, the sky above the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre has been blanketed by layers of thick, dark clouds. This phenomenon is the direct result of the salvation team’s twenty-four-hour, non-stop chanting of Namo Amituofo, dedicated to bringing rain to the region. The influence of this practice has extended far beyond the immediate vicinity of the temple in Goombungee and Toowoomba, reaching even towards the central regions of Australia. This is because the energy generated by the team during their chanting is exceptionally intense. Every single utterance of the Buddha-name is imbued with boundless positive energy. The scope of this energy is vast and its density is profound. It is an invisible force formed by the power of vows and the strength of actual practice, which has successfully summoned the tangible arrival of rain clouds. When these clouds accumulate to a certain degree, they release a torrential downpour, marking the moment when the power of the chanting vow is realised. This is the practical effectiveness of Buddha-recitation. It is the result manifested through the strength of one's vows and the power of one's actions. To the extent that one exerts personal effort, one receives the corresponding of the Buddha. This is the inconceivable nature of the place where Namo Amituofo truly abides, and of the vows and actions performed here.
A Harmonious Dance of Clouds and Sky
Following the rainfall yesterday, dark clouds have once again appeared in the sky. These clouds were summoned by the continued accumulation of chanting energy, as the salvation team persisted in their practice even while the rain was falling. The distance to which the energy of each chanted Buddha-name reaches is exactly the distance to which these clouds cover the earth. Once rain falls in one area, the chanting continues to accumulate further cloud layers until the next rainfall occurs. This is the actual situation regarding the successful efforts of the salvation team in chanting for rain over these past few days. For the local residents and the land itself, this is a rare and precious occurrence. The spirits of the underworld and the invisible world are aware of this event and are filled with deep gratitude. However, apart from those associated with the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and those who listen to the talks given by Practitioner Su, most people remain unaware of the full story. It is truly a pity, for if more people were to know and subsequently believe, it would certainly be of great help to the long-term residency of the temple.
The Unique Vow of Practitioner Su
This situation is certainly not something that ordinary people or even professionals could achieve. It is the power of the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. Currently, the only person who possesses the ability to operate this invisible yet powerful force is Practitioner Su. This ability is the result of a vast capacity for , years of accumulated experience, and a keen, intuitive response to situations, combined with the power of actual practice and verification. The beneficiaries of this are the vast number of living creatures and people. If people have the blessings to allow the Prime Minister, the Minister for Immigration, and the State Premier to learn of this, and if it could lead to long-term residency, the benefits of the Dharma received by all living beings would be limitless, in addition to the successful fulfilment of the prayers for rain.
Cooperation Between the Visible and Invisible
In truth, whether it is the visible clouds or the invisible wind, the movement of clouds requires the blowing of the wind. Every cloud molecule that forms a cloud possesses life force, and every molecule that forms the wind also possesses life force. Therefore, the position and direction of both dark and white clouds are directly related to the force of the wind. One can often observe a specific phenomenon with the clouds above the temple: the dark clouds that were originally above the temple gradually retreat into the distance, yielding their position to the blue sky and white clouds, thus allowing for sunny weather. This occurs because the dark clouds and white clouds have already communicated and reached a mutual understanding. Before the clouds have accumulated to the volume required for rainfall, they reveal clear weather. After all, it is daytime, and humans and other living beings have tasks to complete that require good, sunny weather. To ensure they can proceed with their work without being hindered by the dark clouds, while also ensuring that the clouds summoned by the chanting do not depart, the clouds retreat to reveal the sunlight. To the physical eyes of people, it appears only as a change in the weather, but in reality, these changes are the result of coordination between the rain gods, the dark clouds, and the white clouds—a method that achieves the best of both worlds.
Protecting the Vessel of Compassion
The reason the spirit world and living beings are able to make such adjustments is not only because they are transformed by the virtue of Practitioner Su’s dedication to saving beings, but also because Practitioner Su possesses the unique ability to lead beings from the spirit world and the Four Holy Realms to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This ability is currently unique; only Practitioner Su can perform this. Therefore, everyone actively cooperates to fulfil the requests of Practitioner Su. Of course, these requests must align with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way of saving living beings and benefiting the vast multitude. This is exactly what Practitioner Su is actively doing at all times and in every moment. Furthermore, the process of using a vacuum device to remove attached spirits from of Practitioner Su continues. We all know that the heart of Practitioner Su to save beings is eternal and will never be affected by physical harm or the presence of attached spirits. If Practitioner Su maintains a good physical condition, he will be better able to do what he wishes and perform more deeds to help living beings. As Dharma protectors, we must fully cooperate in all these endeavours.
