The Manifestation of the Heart

Words of Namo Amituofo: The myriad spirits and diverse forms that exist within this world are all manifestations born from the heart. It is not merely that their external appearances differ; rather, the thoughts and intentions within their hearts are each unique. Every spirit resides within its own distinct space, and within that space, they manifest in a myriad of states and forms. You must understand that these differences are not arbitrary but are reflections of the internal state of each being.

Recognising the Buddha-nature in All

You must clearly understand that every spirit, without exception, possesses the inherent Buddha-nature. Because they possess this sacred nature, they are all worthy of your deepest respect. You must realise that you yourself are also one of these myriad spirits. Therefore, when you offer respect to the Buddha-nature and the true self of all spirits, you are simultaneously offering that same respect to your own Buddha-nature and true self. This includes the and the spirits with spiritual attachments that may reside within your own body.

Living with and Respect

Everything you encounter in your daily life, whether it is a person, an animal, or an inanimate object, possesses a spirit. You should interact with the world through the following principles:

  • People: You must teach and guide others according to their individual capacities. Do not judge those who seem dull or slow, as their limitations are often the result of karmic obstructions.
  • Tasks: When you undertake any task, you must do your absolute best to complete it thoroughly, ensuring that your actions do not cause unnecessary trouble or distress to others.
  • Objects: You must cherish and care for all material things. Do not use excessive force, nor should you carelessly break, damage, or destroy the items around you.

In all these interactions, you must strive to be free from all forms of discrimination, such as of superiority, arrogance, contempt, or disdain. By maintaining a heart free from these biases, you uphold the dignity of all existence.

The Path to Virtue

When you truly understand these truths within your heart, a sense of genuine reverence will naturally arise. When this reverence manifests in your external conduct, your every action and every word will become a reflection of respect. To respect all spirits is to respect yourself, and this practice is a vital method for nurturing and growing your own virtue. All my disciples, you must not remain ignorant of this truth. Namo Amituofo.
