Heart, Vows, and Actions Follow Amitabha, Spreading Throughout Space and the Dharma Realm
My dear children, when begins to age and illness takes hold, even the simple act of drawing a breath can become a difficult struggle. It is often only in these moments of frailty that we truly realise how precious it is to be able to eat, drink, walk, and breathe with ease. These are things we usually view as natural, everyday occurrences, yet when they are taken from us, we finally understand that our health and our very existence are not things to be taken for granted. Therefore, you must learn to make the best use of this present moment. Do not let your time be squandered or allowed to pass by in vain.
Whether the days that lie ahead of you will be better than today, or perhaps even more challenging, is a matter that rests entirely within your own hands. It is a matter of the heart. If you can maintain correct without deviation, if you can harbour no resentment, and if you can cultivate a heart of gratitude for everything that comes your way, you will find the strength to transform your life. A heart of gratitude is the foundation upon which all true spiritual progress is built.
My dear children, take this opportunity now, in every passing moment, to engage in diligent practice. Do not let a single second go by without purpose. If you are able to chant , if you are able to perform prostrations to the Buddha, if you are able to recite a sutra, or if you are able to attend a assembly, you must do so with a heart of gratitude. You must be grateful for everything. A heart of gratitude makes your diligent practice more powerful and more effective. Let this be your state of mind at all times, in every minute and every second, ensuring that every moment is dedicated to your spiritual growth.
Only by living a life that is not wasted can you truly honour those who guide and support you. By living with purpose and gratitude, you are being true to:
