Heart, Vows, and Actions Follow Amitabha, Spreading Throughout Space and the Dharma Realm
A joyful face, a voice filled with warmth, and a radiant smile—these are things that everyone loves to see and hear. They are the natural expressions of a heart at peace. Yet, it is not everyone who is willing to manifest such in their daily lives. Often, we allow our internal states to be clouded by the dust of the world, forgetting that joy is a reflection of our true nature.
When one is truly at peace within, and their heart is filled with joy, they do not need to force a smile. Even if they are not laughing out loud or wearing a wide grin, the gentle light of contentment will still be visible upon their face. This inner serenity is infectious; it allows others to feel that same joy and happiness. A genuine, joyful atmosphere can permeate the very air around us, diffusing into the hearts of those we encounter.
Conversely, consider those who are burdened by frustration, worry, or a heavy, restless heart. Even if they attempt to put on a smile or speak with a cheerful tone, those with clear eyes will immediately recognise that it is merely a facade. It is not authentic, nor does it come from the original nature. If this is true for those who try to feign happiness, how much more obvious is it when one remains silent and withdrawn?
If someone speaks to you and you are feeling displeased within, choosing to remain silent is not merely a social error; it is a lack of courtesy and respect. As practitioners, we must be mindful of how our internal state affects our outward conduct. We must ask ourselves: are we acting from a place of genuine , or are we allowing our hidden frustrations to dictate our interactions?
In the grand scope of the universe, there is truly nothing to be troubled by; the world is inherently peaceful. It is only the foolish who create problems for themselves, stirring up unnecessary waves in a calm sea. For the practitioner, this is a vital lesson to internalise:
By consistently upholding these principles, you will naturally manifest a state of purification and serenity. This is the true meaning of joy—a state of being that remains stable, clear, and profoundly peaceful, regardless of the changing conditions of the world. May you always walk this path with a heart that is light, open, and filled with the wisdom of the Dharma.
