During the second session of the Thrice Yearning Ceremony, we are invited to reflect upon the nature of true celebration. We must ask ourselves: what is truly worth celebrating in this life?

The Rarity of the Encounter

To encounter the Buddha as He manifests in this world is the supreme joy. There is no other event in the vastness of the universe that surpasses the significance of this encounter. This is a moment that can be encountered but cannot be sought; it is a blessing that is difficult to encounter in millions of years. Such an opportunity is the result of magnificent Causal Conditions that you have cultivated over countless lifetimes.

Understanding the Cycle of Reincarnation

Only the Buddha can truly understand the suffering of being reincarnated. He knows suffering, He understands the nature of suffering, and He provides the way for us to resolve the cycle of birth and death. By following His guidance, we begin to understand the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. When we walk this path with a steady heart, we are able to break through the illusory world that has kept us bound for so long.

The Truth of the Universe

The Buddha Himself is the Truth, and through His presence, the facts of reality become clear and manifest. The Buddha-heart remains still and unmoved by the chaos of the world, while the Buddha's eyes clearly foresee the emptiness of all phenomena. This clarity is the foundation of our practice.
