Bearing the Suffering of All Beings at All Times, Thus Inviting the Presence of Amitabha Buddha
Heart, Vows, and Actions Follow Amitabha, Spreading Throughout Space and the Dharma Realm
Diligent practice is a virtue that remains unchanged through the ages. Its fundamental principles have not shifted by even a single stroke. To this day, it remains the essential, non-negotiable condition for any modern practitioner who aspires to attain the fruit of Buddhahood.
That this practice has remained constant throughout history signifies that it has withstood the test of millennia. It has endured countless trials, evolutions, and the hidden hardships of the past. Despite the bitter and the sweet, the joys and the sorrows that life inevitably brings, this path stands firm and unshakable. It is a manifestation of a resolute and steadfast power, one that is entirely distinct from the worldly efforts made in pursuit of fame, wealth, or personal gain.
Diligent practice is, in essence, a force that arises from deep within the heart. It is the power that drives us forward and facilitates true transformation. It acts as a constant spur, urging us to overcome the various obstacles we encounter on our journey. It allows us to move forward without retreating, and it grants us the courage to face the changes in our body, mind, and spirit without fear.
Therefore, the true meaning of diligent practice transcends the superficial understanding of merely working hard or making progress. Instead, it represents:
We must realise that the achievements born from our diligent practice are not for us alone; they are the very opportunities through which others may receive salvation.
As a practitioner, this is a responsibility you must first shoulder yourself. Only when you possess this clear understanding can you move forward on the path of practice without regret or resentment. You must recognise that your progress is the key to the liberation of those who are still suffering.
For every member of the fourfold assembly at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, diligent practice is a constant reminder. This is because is residing here, and Namo Amituofo is the Universal Buddha who encompasses all of the Realm. Beyond the responsibilities we hold for ourselves and our karmic creditors, we carry the sacred duty of following the Buddha in the work of saving all beings throughout the universe. This is an unparalleled honour and a supreme privilege.
The fourfold assembly should embody the spirit of:
When you experience moments of regression, avoidance, or a reluctance to face the truth, you are essentially caught in a struggle with other beings. This leads to a state where you cannot be the master of your own life. This occurs because your inner drive is insufficient and your attitude is not yet firm enough, which allows karmic creditors to attach themselves and take control.
My dear children, let the past remain in the past. You must rise up with diligent practice and make the necessary changes. This is what both the Buddha and Practitioner Su long to see. May you find the strength to move forward with a heart full of and a spirit that never wavers.
