To embark upon the path of practice and to encounter a true spiritual friend like Practitioner Su—an awakened being who has realised his true nature—is a rare and precious blessing. It is not an easy feat to find such a guide in this world. Furthermore, Practitioner Su offers his compassionate, earnest, and persistent reminders to you again and again. He remains by the side of the fourfold assembly of disciples 24/7, never leaving your side, watching over your every movement and listening to your every word.

With his eyes and ears, he observes you closely. If he detects any deviation, any bias, any separation, or any doubt in your heart, he is there to guide you back. He ensures you do not stray from the righteous path or wander away from the true track of the Dharma. You must be willing to listen and adjust your course whenever he points out where you have gone astray.

The Danger of Ego and Karma

When Practitioner Su delivers his lectures, he speaks with a heart full of compassion, urging you to change your ways. He warns you not to cling to your personality or ego, for these are the very things that invite karmic consequences, leading to the suffering of old age and illness. Yet, if you do not put these teachings into practice, you will continue to suffer. You must be vigilant and awaken your awareness. Do not let your ego arise again, for if you do, you will surely face the suffering and hardships that follow.

They end up spinning in circles, unable to move forward. They continue this way until the very end of their lives. Because they could not find the right path, they fail to achieve rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss and are forced to enter the cycle of rebirth once more. What a tragic waste of a human life and a journey of practice!
