Bearing the Suffering of All Beings at All Times, Thus Inviting the Presence of Amitabha Buddha
Heart, Vows, and Actions Follow Amitabha, Spreading Throughout Space and the Dharma Realm
During the , offered the following Words of Namo Amituofo regarding the concept of mind-capacity. This term refers to the ability of the heart to encompass all things. Whether one's mind-capacity is infinitely vast or infinitesimally small depends entirely upon the state of one's heart.
The mind-capacity of your heart is the critical factor that determines your success or failure in life and in your spiritual practice. We often judge our successes and failures based on external circumstances, but in truth, these outcomes are merely reflections of the state of our own minds. If you wish to understand the nature of your progress, you must look inward to the depth and breadth of your own heart.
If your goal is to become an awakened being, you must understand the following truths:
As a practitioner, you must strive to move towards this infinite mind-capacity. Only by expanding your heart to encompass all beings and all experiences can you truly be in sync with your true self.
For those who exist as a spirit without a body, having a large mind-capacity is of vital importance. If you can learn to forgive the faults of your karmic creditors, you are effectively forgiving your own past faults as well. This shift in perspective allows for the resolution of the conflict. Through this process, you can find the goodness required to chant Buddha's name and secure your rebirth in the of Ultimate Bliss.
However, if you hold onto the grievances caused by your karmic creditors and refuse to let them go, you are essentially holding onto your own past mistakes. If you do not achieve rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss in this lifetime, you will continue to be trapped by the cycle of birth, aging, sickness, death, and you will continue to suffer under the weight of your own attachments.
To all the spirits and karmic creditors currently attached to the bodies of the disciples, please listen to the compassionate advice of Namo Amituofo:
These teachings were recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
