During the , we are reminded that maintaining constant caution is the most effective method for beings in this world to avoid committing transgressions. It is a vital discipline for all beings residing in this realm. We must understand that every thought and intention we harbour is, in essence, the creation of sins. As the scriptures remind us, for the beings of this world, every thought and intention is nothing but , and nothing but sin. This is a sobering reality that requires our deepest reflection.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, in his infinite , constantly reminds the fourfold assembly of disciples that we must be cautious. We must not allow our minds to wander into reckless thoughts. If we add to these internal thoughts a lack of caution in our speech and physical behaviour, we inevitably cause harm to both others and ourselves. Our words and deeds become sources of suffering rather than liberation. By practising caution, we protect our own spiritual progress and ensure that we do not create further obstacles on our journey.
Those who have realised their true nature exist in a state of no-mind and no-thought. Yet, this does not mean they are indifferent. On the contrary, they are perfectly capable of observing the conditions of all beings and acting in a way that flows naturally with the . This state is the manifestation of the direct heart, the deep heart, and the great compassion that flows naturally with the Dharma. It is a state of perfect clarity where one acts without attachment, yet with complete effectiveness in saving others.
To all those present at this ceremony, and to all the beings connected by karmic affinity to the fourfold assembly, you must realise the importance of this very moment. The Namo Amituofo you see before you is not distant; the Buddha is present right here, right now. Do not let this precious opportunity to reach the of Ultimate Bliss pass you by. Follow the assembly in chanting the name of Namo Amituofo, enter into the light of the Buddha, and you shall find yourself in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
