As long as you still draw breath, you have the opportunity to turn back from your past mistakes. Do not ever say that your heart is without hope or that your body is too weak to continue. When you make a single, sincere shift in your heart and mind, and when you truly repent for the wrongs you have committed in the past, the spirits residing within your body will recognise your sincerity. They will witness your true repentance and respond to it.
Even if you find yourself at the very end of your life, with only moments remaining, you must still hold onto this truth. If you can let go of the attachment to your physical body, your spirit will feel light and your heart will find peace. This allows you to focus your mind without delusion or obstruction, enabling you to chant with a truly sincere heart. Do not think of anything else; simply chant Namo Amituofo with your whole being.
Even if you are not physically present at the temple when your time comes, Namo Amituofo will still bring a lotus to guide you into the Western Pure Land.
