The Fading Echoes of Ancestral Wisdom

Under the rapid and pervasive spread of Western culture, many people in China have begun to lose faith in the profound sutras and teachings left behind by our ancestors. This is a tragedy of immense proportions. Without a deep foundation of cultural accumulation, it is impossible for one to truly resonate with the wisdom contained within these ancient texts. The most regrettable aspect of this decline is that such cultural grounding must begin with early childhood education. Yet, our current educational systems have completely deviated from the correct path. Instead of teaching children the most vital concepts and thoughts regarding what it means to be a human being, the system is built entirely upon visible metrics: examination scores and homework assignments.

In a society where fundamental human ethics and moral foundations are no longer understood, parents must bear the full responsibility for the actions of their children. However, we cannot place the blame solely upon the parents. They, too, were raised within this same flawed system and were never taught how to guide their children onto the right path. Under the relentless impact of Western cultural influence, traditional ethics and moral foundations have slowly withered away. Each generation is less grounded than the last. This is a reality that cannot be changed in a short period, and it is the profound sorrow of our current society.

The Foundation of a Stable Society

Every official who takes the position of Minister of Education should face this problem squarely. To address this, the Buddha’s teachings offer the laws of and cause and effect as a method for rapid adjustment. We must help children understand that every action they take is real and carries weight. The universe is inherently fair; it will not change simply because of your deceptions or shortcuts. The laws of karma and cause and effect exist in tandem:

  • Good causes: When one plants the seeds of kindness and integrity, one will inevitably reap the good fruit of peace and prosperity.
  • The natural order: Just as planting melons yields melons and planting beans yields beans, our actions dictate our future.

By establishing these correct concepts in children, we ensure that when they grow up, they will become individuals who contribute to the benefit of society. Only in this way can we begin to slowly reverse the decline of our educational standards. Character education must be prioritised once again. The quality of a nation's people is the bedrock of a stable society and the foundation of national progress. This is the only true path to a strong and peaceful nation.

The True Essence of the Buddha’s Teachings

To thoroughly resolve the chaos and anxiety of modern society, the Buddha’s teachings are the essential medicine. They are not merely a religious belief, nor are they a collection of superstitions or strange phenomena. Rather, they represent a diverse cultural heritage of education. Unfortunately, most people have not deeply understood or verified these teachings. Instead, they distort and exploit them, using the packaging of the Buddha’s teachings to deceive a public whose hearts are filled with emptiness. This has led to the decline of the entire practice.

All of this stems from hearts that have not received proper guidance, leading to the creation of sins driven by:

  • Greed for wealth: The insatiable desire for material gain.
  • Greed for pleasure: The pursuit of sensory indulgence.
  • Greed for fame: The craving for status and recognition.

You may experience a fleeting sense of pleasure or enjoyment in the moment, but you may be suffering the consequences in the night without even knowing it. Are you truly still yourself? Can you master your own thoughts? Or is your mind still constantly calculating how to acquire more money and more fame? If so, you have already gone astray. You are no longer a practitioner of the Buddha’s teachings; instead, you have become someone who corrupts the and destroys the image of the Buddha’s gate. You are a person of the Demon Realm, leading others toward deeper degradation and emptiness.

A Choice Between Two Paths

The consequences you will reap are truly miserable, for everything you possess now cannot be taken with you when you depart. Why suffer the fate of being a sinner throughout history who destroys the transmission of the Buddha’s teachings? You have the potential to help many more people who are connected by karmic affinity. You could become an eminent monk or a virtuous teacher. With a single shift in your intention, you choose between the of Ultimate Bliss and the hells. Choose carefully, for it is still not too late to turn back.
