Reflections from the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss
An Interview with the Spirit of Steve Jobs
The Fourteenth Letter
This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Steve Jobs, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his life and his current state of existence. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on August 24, 2017.
Steve Jobs speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Steve Jobs. You know, Edison changed the world with the lightbulb. Jesus created the concept of Heaven. Gandhi sparked a revival in India. Da Vinci was a genius. Picasso’s art—well, most people do not understand it, but it is worth billions. Everyone who walks this earth has a certain value, a specific meaning to their existence. My life? It was not about grand romances. It was about triggering a technological explosion. My name, my net worth—enough to make me a staple in Forbes magazine. It was, by all accounts, a spectacular life. But now? I find myself wanting to mock my own past self. If I could go back, I would choose a simple life—maybe growing grapes on a farm in America, making wine. That would have been infinitely better than the explosive, high-pressure achievements of my actual life."
The Irony of a Brilliant Life
"I understand the mindset of many famous people now, though perhaps many of you have not yet woken up. Even as celebrities, everyone carries a certain level of fear and anxiety, do they not? If you say you do not, you are merely wearing a mask. When your body starts flashing red lights, when you are diagnosed with a tumour, it feels exactly like being handed a death sentence. While modern medical technology might not kill you instantly, it slowly, bit by bit, devours your body. Your physical strength fades, your face changes, your body withers, and that drive you once had—it just vanishes. This is the symbol that life is nearing its end. At that moment, the panic and unease reach a breaking point.
Everyone must face this: sickness and death. Once you die, you disappear from this world. You might be cast into the outer reaches of the universe, you might be dragged into the hells, or you might sprout wings and fly to Heaven. It all depends on how you lived your life. Actually, it is not just about this one life; there are the laws of and cause and effect spanning three lifetimes. I do not know if you are aware of this. This is why it is absolutely essential for people to be good and to do good deeds."
Beyond the Heavens: The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss
"Do you believe that once you become an angel, there is no more birth, old age, sickness, or death? If you agree, then let me introduce you to a place even better than Heaven: the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, which is where I, Steve Jobs, reside now. Nothing annoying ever happens here, and there is no such thing as physical decay. Like Heaven, it is a life of a spiritual body. But Heaven has a time limit; the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss does not, unless you voluntarily choose to leave.
Everything you could ever want is here. Because of this, there is no greed in this life; whatever you need is right at your fingertips. Do you know about those 'anywhere doors' in stories? You do not even need a door here. You just have to think of a place, and you are there. It is far faster and more advanced than any aeroplane."
A Researcher in the Pure Land
"I, Steve Jobs, still love to do 'research' here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I research what other advanced things there are to enjoy. I have researched and researched, but I still do not fully understand how Namo Amituofo manages to create all of this. Through a great screen in my , I can see the changes throughout the universe, and of course, I can see all the activities of humanity. My body and mind are always clear and sharp. Looking in every direction, I see such a beautiful environment, filled with gentle fragrances and lingering music. The music here is called the Buddha-name; it is a melody composed of chanting Namo Amituofo. It is not like the heavy metal or rock music from America. My body and mind are comfortable, cool, and at ease.
It is only recently that Namo Amituofo gave me the opportunity to help save the world, which is why I am looking back at everything I created while I was alive. I have finally learned to repent—to repent for my arrogance and for everything I invented that disrupted the original peace of humanity."
An Invitation to the Truth
"Now that I have discovered this wonderful place, the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I want to share it with all of you. I am a person who does not lie; you should know that about me, right? Perhaps you are curious about how to get to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss that I am talking about. I am sorry to say, you must put in the real effort, because you do not have my luck—I was led there by Practitioner Su. You must come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia to learn how to reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Of course, because it is so wonderful, there is a basic threshold you must meet. In our Western countries, it is not popular to go to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss; many do not even know it exists. But it is truly so much better than Heaven. If you give up on this, it would be such a pity! If you are willing to come, when the time comes for you to return to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I can come to receive you. If a celebrity comes to pick you up, you would be happy, right? Come quickly! Namo Amituofo."
