An Interview with the Spirit of Duoduo, a Primordial Demon

This interview was recorded on April 22, 2025, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. The subject is Duoduo, a primordial demon with a lifespan of 200 trillion years, who sought deliverance through the compassionate intervention of Practitioner Su. Having spent aeons in deep meditative concentration, Duoduo shares his journey from the darkness of a dying planet to the light of the , offering a stern warning to his descendants about the power of Namo Amituofo.
Duoduo speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am the demon Duoduo. Today, it is a great honour to be interviewed here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. Practitioner Su mentioned that we should use full names, and we ancient demons have taken that instruction very seriously. I am currently residing in the Western -Nature Land of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, and life here is truly magnificent. From here, I can observe Practitioner Su delivering Dharma talks, with the space filled with countless beings listening intently. There are also many demon beings in the sky listening to the Dharma; although they have chosen not to manifest their forms, we can see them clearly at a glance."
The Reality of Spiritual Attachment
"As an ancient demon of two hundred trillion years, I possess deep meditative concentration. I can see the beings in this space, and naturally, I can see the demon beings attached to physical entities at a glance. Many demon beings adopt the method of attachment—clinging to the clouds in the sky or the beings within the white clouds—to seek refuge. In those moments, the white clouds, against their will, have their colours altered by the demons. Each demon carries a colour—either grey, black, dark, or deep black—which stains the clouds into grey or black clouds. This is not what people typically call 'storm clouds' that bring rain; these are 'demon clouds' coming to seek refuge. You must understand that these demon clouds are essentially attachments to the white clouds.
Therefore, it is not just human bodies that have attachments; any entity with a physical form can have attached beings. For example, with flowers, grass, and trees, their original spirits may have been invited away. At the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, there are constant instances of . Once their original spirits are invited away to receive deliverance and enter the human or heavenly realms, this is a monumental event! For flowers, grasses, and forests to enter the human or heavenly realms is a result of the tremendous they cultivated in the past. In truth, once they become empty, another spirit will quickly enter—this spirit is the attached being of the plant. Thus, spiritual attachment is an extremely common phenomenon. As long as there are spirits or beings in the ghost realm floating in the air, they can attach themselves to physical entities at any time. This is a natural condition of the world that has evolved. People are generally only aware of material attachments, but they never imagined that white clouds could also be 'attached' by us demon beings."
The Universal Truth of Cause and Effect
"This is a relatively common situation on Earth. Earth is indeed a planet with abundant resources, and the activities of many spirits are very active here, especially the activities of demon beings. The situation of demons attaching to human bodies is so common that it is no longer considered a major issue. However, those who have not heard the interviews from the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre would find this shocking, because matters of the spiritual realms are rarely disclosed to the public. Yet, one after another, these interviews with demon beings are now appearing before your ears. The content is highly compelling and certainly shocking, but it is an undeniable fact. The so-called Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way are exactly like this. In reality, many things exist, but they have not been discovered. Not being discovered does not mean they do not exist. Just like the laws of and cause and effect: as long as a cause is planted, a fruit must be obtained. Although the cause has been created, the fruit will definitely manifest; it is just a matter of when. If it has not happened yet, it does not mean there is no ; it simply means the time has not yet arrived. But when this retribution will occur, you must ask the laws of karma and cause and effect."
A Chance Encounter with the Buddha
"As an old demon, I have committed many evil deeds. Logically speaking, the karmic retributions should be countless, one after another. But why am I able to sit peacefully in the Western Dharma-Nature Land now? Are evil demons not those who specialise in doing bad things? Why am I not receiving evil retribution, but instead have arrived at such a wonderful place as the Western Dharma-Nature Land? This is because we encountered the Greatly Compassionate Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su. Encountering a Buddha is an extremely magnificent event; it is not something one can encounter in ordinary times. We have tremendous blessings to have met a Buddha—one who has the ability to create a world like the Western Dharma-Nature Land, just as Namo Amituofo had the ability to create the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss and save countless beings. These beings come from all walks of life, from all directions, and have all committed killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, and drinking, yet they are still able to enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo is truly Greatly Compassionate, giving demon beings a chance to change their ways and start anew. However, to enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, one must pass through layer after layer of screening. This 'screening' means that while in the human realm, or within their respective countries, they must first listen to sutras and hear the Dharma before it is possible to chant Namo Amituofo and be led by Namo Amituofo into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is faster to say it, but in fact, it is not an easy task. Yet, it exists. If one's karmic fortune is great enough, one can smoothly pass through one gate after another into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss."
A Warning to the Younger Generation
"We demon beings currently in the Western Dharma-Nature Land are the ones with such blessings. We have been working very hard, very hard, to wash away the sins we created in the past, because we have already realised what a wonderful world the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is. In the past, I would never have imagined that I would have the opportunity to enter. Now, this opportunity has opened up before our eyes. This is truly a wonderful thing that I could never have thought of, nor even dreamed of, because Namo Amituofo has opened the skillful means, allowing Practitioner Su to make a vow to lead demon beings into the Western Dharma-Nature Land and then into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Such a good thing—as an old demon, I know how to cherish and grasp it. But for the younger generation of demon kings, sons, and grandsons, they may not necessarily know that the facts are so precious. Consequently, they have done some things involving casting spells to attack , which is truly inexcusable.
After I entered samadhi, I once shouted to stop my demon sons and grandsons. They do not know the gravity of the situation and actually cast spells at Practitioner Su. I urged them to stop immediately! Without Practitioner Su, we would have no opportunity to reach the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss at this time. This is a blessing that would have required countless kalpas and lifetimes of doing good deeds to attain, and now it is manifesting right before our eyes. Therefore, do not cut off the demon beings' own path to survival. If you cast spells to attack the body of Practitioner Su or the fourfold assembly, you are cutting off your own path to reach the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is harming yourselves, but at the same time, it is also harming many juniors in the demon realm—many demons, demon sons, and grandsons—who could have been saved by Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, entered the Western Dharma-Nature Land, and then entered the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I have said so much in one breath; this is the current situation. Please grasp the opportunity to tell everyone."
The Nature of a Demon
"Next, let me introduce myself. I am an old demon with a clear distinction between good and evil; right is right, and wrong is wrong. But where is my standard for right and wrong? Within our own set of rules in the demon realm, whatever violates the rules is wrong, and whatever complies is right. However, in terms of Buddha’s teachings, what demon beings consider 'right' might be what Buddha’s teachings consider '' that must be prohibited—precepts are things that cannot be done. What demon beings consider 'things that cannot be done,' Buddha’s teachings consider 'things that need to be promoted and developed' to help more beings.
For example, killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, drinking, as well as double-tongued speech, harsh words, lying, and flowery language—these three karmas of Body, Speech, and Mind are what Buddha’s teachings warn and remind us about repeatedly: do not do them to create negative causes. But for demon beings, these are the areas where we want to take action. If there were no such direction, it would not be easy to take action, because sometimes the hearts of beings are fickle. Actually, to be honest, many demon beings are straightforward; they are very straightforward, but their personalities are too intense, and their personality traits are easily highlighted, which is why everyone feels a sense of awe and distance toward them.
(Suddenly, the sound of a crow calling appears) There is even background music here, quite nice, hahaha. Oh my, this crow must have cultivated great karmic fortune in its past life to be able to enter the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. That is a digression, but by listening to its sound, one can know what is being spoken within its . This is a skill that all old demons possess; it is a small matter."
The Darkness of a Dying Planet
"I grew up on a planet that was about to be declared to have entered a dark period—a planet where energy was about to be exhausted. The people there lived very frugal and hard lives. This memory must be told so that you know how good a life you are living now. There is a reason why demon beings become demons. Behind every demon, there is a heartbreaking story. Otherwise, who would choose to be a demon instead of choosing to be a Buddha? Unless one is born a demon, there would be no choice. But if that is not the case, there must be a story that can be presented to everyone, and this must be told briefly.
I was born on such a planet that was about to be declared extinct. The people on the planet sighed every day. So, after I was born, I was raised in such an environment. The meaning of 'raised' was to give me energy so that my spirituality could continue to grow. But energy was very scarce because the entire planet was almost exhausted; the energy depletion was too tight, so there was not much to distribute to everyone, and of course, it was even scarcer for children. On the planet, there is a word that is sought by the masses, and that is 'filial piety.' This is a planet with filial piety, which is very rare. But I did not understand where this rarity lay, because the elderly could obtain a lot of energy, while relatively speaking, the young and small civilians only obtained a little energy. Later, they were also educated that children do not need much energy to grow up, but the elderly have weak bodies and need more energy to survive. Being indoctrinated in this way, of course, it was taken for granted that this was not a problem. In this situation, I slowly grew up, and the situation of seeking energy was never improved.
Until one day, the planet entered a dark period. We had actually prepared early, so there was no great panic. We knew that the progression of fate was just this sad and sorrowful, and everyone accepted all these changes with a heavy heart. So, where were we to go? No one knew, and there was nowhere to go. Just like people on Earth, if the means of transport also have no energy, and the cars have no energy to drive, wouldn't everyone have to stay where they are? Letting the environment change and adapting to survive—that is exactly how it was. We survived in the darkness. Later, demon beings occupied the planet, and every one of us became a subject of the demons. Some people withered away, which was called death, while those who did not wither away became subjects of the demons. This situation was very common on the planet. So, my age of two hundred trillion years is counted from that moment. From the moment the planet was occupied. From then on, we lived in a world of eternal darkness. Everyone got used to such a life, and at the same time, we were taught that if you want to survive, you must learn to kill, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, and rob—to be a robber, an interstellar robber. Some countries were very afraid because they were afraid that they would bring harm, or harm the civilians, or plunder energy. Other countries adopted a welcoming attitude: 'Come in, welcome to join our ranks.' That must have been the magic realm. The magic realm was almost a place that accommodated demon beings."
The Power of the Dharma Jewel
"I chose to enter samadhi at the entrance of the planet, which is a place where spirits come and go. Our range of activities was not limited to our planet, but extended to the surrounding planets, which were all places we would go. Of course, if the demon beings on the other side were not friendly to us, we would tactfully walk away, because we did not want to create a great disaster for ourselves later; why bother? If your great disaster can find you at any time, you can choose a small corner between the ground and the underground to hide, hoping to become smaller and smaller so that you cannot be found. And if you were found once, it does not mean you can be found again later, because it is not a permanent place for samadhi. I entered samadhi in a dark place on the surface of the planet for ninety trillion years. For the first sixty trillion years, I was not discovered. It is truly inconceivable. Perhaps I am also a spirit with great blessings, a senior demon elder, which is why it was possible not to be discovered for so many years. It is truly very rare.
Why did I come to the Western Dharma-Nature Land later? That is because on this planet, some demon beings cast spells at Practitioner Su, so they were sucked away by Practitioner Su’s sounding of the large qing, and then they disappeared without a trace. When the qing was sounded, the sound opened the space where I was in samadhi. The sound of the qing was very loud and solid; this is indeed a Dharma Jewel used by practitioners, capable of breaking through the space where demon beings reside. The sound of the qing woke me up, and I had no choice but to come out. After coming out, I was immediately informed by my demon sons and grandsons about some recent events regarding Practitioner Su. I have said that I do not easily take action, but when I do, I hope to win. This is the demon nature. Although I was able to enter samadhi for so long, in fact, my personality had not changed at all. Once I encountered a situation, my strong personality from the past emerged again. So I told my demon sons and grandsons: 'Let's go, let's continue to cast spells at Practitioner Su.' They warned me: 'If you cast spells at Practitioner Su, you might be caught and suddenly disappear, just like the situation where the old and ancient demons on our planet were subdued before.' After casting the spell, I could not block the sound of the large qing sounded by Practitioner Su. I immediately felt an attraction that sucked my spirit away and sent me directly to the Western Dharma-Nature Land. This is truly the of the Buddha. Practitioner Su knows that the personalities of demon beings are fierce and their demon nature is deep. I was unharmed, and this place became the place where I reside."
The Inconceivable Nature of Buddha’s Teachings
"The old demon’s meditative concentration is remarkable. Why could Practitioner Su’s sounding of the qing so easily wake me up from samadhi and send me, who was casting spells, into the Western Dharma-Nature Land? Because the sound of the qing can break through space and enter the places where one is in samadhi or casting spells. This is the inconceivable part of Buddha’s teachings. Buddha’s teachings always have a way to make demons submit. Although the method of subduing each person is different, in fact, the core principles are the same. Demon beings who are still casting spells, you must understand that where there is magic, there may actually be the existence of Buddha’s teachings. Although Buddha and demons are incompatible, and demons cannot accommodate Buddha’s teachings, Buddha’s teachings can accommodate magic and can subdue demon beings, and even established this world of the Dharma-Nature Land, which is where I am now.
I know that the large qing is a Dharma Jewel in Buddha’s teachings. Buddha’s teachings have many Dharma Jewels, all of which are used by practitioners. As for subduing demonic enemies, it is his personal Dharma Jewel. It seems that Practitioner Su’s personal Dharma Jewel is the large qing. The suction power of this large qing is quite powerful; it could suck me, an old demon of two hundred trillion years, from the Dharma Realm to the Western Dharma-Nature Land at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre on this Earth, and I was utterly defenseless.
Practitioner Su’s practice of Buddha’s teachings has considerable attainment. I believe that is the attainment of those who have realised their true nature; otherwise, it would be impossible to possess such ability. Of course, this is also produced under the compassionate blessing of Namo Amituofo. Practitioner Su’s ability has been strengthened, so it is possible to reach this ability. This situation is something we can accept. Because the Dharma power of Namo Amituofo’s Universal Buddha body is known to the masses in the Dharma Realm, so honestly speaking, no demon being can defeat him, and there is no need to defeat him. This is very natural; there is no way to be stronger than this Dharma power.
In a short period of time, I have already seen many demon beings saved by Practitioner Su into the Western Dharma-Nature Land. After arriving at the Western Dharma-Nature Land, one can see the Chao Du situation of Practitioner Su’s countless billions of manifestations. Chao Du truly has no boundaries; there is space within space that can go deeper, and deep can go deeper. Because of such ability, spirits in samadhi under the soil on the planet’s surface can be discovered. In fact, there are many beings in the soil around the same area, so when the qing was sounded, it was not only I who entered the large qing; we believe that the compassionate Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su also brought the other beings in the soil around this area into the Western Dharma-Nature Land together. The Buddha will certainly fulfill our wishes. The so-called wish is to save the spirits who have not yet been saved, and to be able to send them directly to the Western Dharma-Nature Land so that they can be liberated early and live a good life early. The depth of meditative concentration can be known in such a situation; Practitioner Su’s meditative concentration is deeper than mine, which is why he has the ability to sound the qing and subdue us demon beings.
Because the space of the Dharma-Nature Land is opened, I can see the people before me and the things happening on Earth. I can see the various hearts of people and their different appearances, especially the differences between men and women, which are even greater. Moreover, being able to enter the Dharma-Nature Land is a great blessing, because although I continue to stay in the Dharma Realm, I do not want to do the things of demon beings anymore. Therefore, I, Duoduo, am very grateful to be saved by Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su to this place. This is an opportunity that is difficult to encounter in millions of years; it is truly so. I hope that the juniors can hear my heartfelt words; every sentence is a sincere word. Please do not cast spells to attack Practitioner Su’s body in the future. Practitioner Su’s willpower to save beings and demons is quite firm; he will not retreat because of the interference or discomfort caused by the spells cast by demon beings. He will definitely continue to save the spirits of the Dharma Realm and the demon juniors. Therefore, one should not cast spells to attack Practitioner Su, but should respect him, be reverent, and come to seek refuge.
The above is my heartfelt expectation for the demon beings.
