The Demon Who Found the Light: An Interview with Shi Jinghao

This is a record of an interview with Moli Xiu, a demon who was discovered within the left groin and left calf of Practitioner Su. He now resides in the Western Land of Dharma Nature and has been given the Dharma name Shi Jinghao. This account reflects upon his journey from a predatory spirit to a practitioner of the Buddha-name. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on May 2, 2022.

Shi Jinghao (formerly Moli Xiu) speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Moli Xiu. I have finally arrived here to see for myself what all this commotion is about. I had sensed subtle fluctuations occurring within the Milky Way. My initial reaction was one of intense curiosity: who could possibly possess such immense capability to quietly influence the entire galaxy? At the time, I did not know who it was, but I knew that a powerful energy had emerged—an energy so vast that it was capable of altering our entire galactic structure. Although I was aware of its existence, I did not immediately seek it out. I did not want to disturb the stillness of my own space. As long as this energy did not interfere with me, I did not care much for it, nor did I pay it any mind."

A Disturbance in the Silence

"However, just yesterday, the very space I inhabit was shaken. It was that same energy again. It was quietly influencing my domain, shattering the peace I had cultivated. I could not help but ask myself, 'Who on earth is doing this?' I followed the source of the energy, travelling past eighty-four million planets, until I arrived at a rather peculiar world. It had clouds, oceans, land, and life thriving within it. I was filled with doubt: could this energy truly be emanating from this planet? I circled the planet rapidly, time and time again, confirming that the energy was indeed coming from this world. It was unmistakable, for the energy continued to flow forth in an endless stream. Even before I entered the planet, while I was merely orbiting its periphery, I could already feel the profound presence of this power.

Before I entered the planet, other demon kings from the Demon Realm spoke to me. These kings were stationed on this planet, so they were quite familiar with it. As for me, although I am classified as a demon, I mostly keep to my own space, ignoring others. Only when I need energy to elevate my spirit do I travel to other planets to absorb their energy fields, destroying them in the process and drawing their power into myself. However, not every planet's energy is suitable for me. I only absorb energy that resonates with my own aura. Just as a demon with a malevolent character would not seek out pure, virtuous energy, I seek out negative energy that carries a similar trace of malice—that is what we require to sustain ourselves."

The Discovery of Earth

"These demon kings stationed on the planet told me, 'This planet is called Earth. There are many living beings here, but the ones who occupy the highest position and exert the most powerful influence over all other life are called humans. They are life forms on Earth that possess immense potential.' I realised that the energy I had felt was brought into the Milky Way by the 'humans' of this planet. This made me even more curious: what kind of humans could possibly possess such energy?

Through the introduction of these demon kings, I learned that the energy originated from the 'Namo Amituofo' Buddha-name chanted by this human, Practitioner Su. I did not hesitate; I headed straight for Practitioner Su's location, eager to see how this energy was being generated. Following the source of the energy, I rushed to where Practitioner Su was. When I saw him, he was in the midst of chanting the Buddha-name. This was yesterday."

The Power of the Buddha-Name

"I was certain I had not seen wrong. The energy was flowing endlessly from the Buddha-name that Practitioner Su was chanting. The entire scene transformed into a massive energy field, brimming with infinite power. This was my first time in a place filled with such immense energy. I began to drink it in, taking large gulps. This energy entered my body quite naturally, unlike the energy I had to carefully select in the past. This energy was different; even though it was virtuous and not malevolent, it could still enter my body. It was incredibly gentle, and it naturally merged with me as one.

Once this energy entered my body, I felt an internal transformation; it was constantly softening the rigid parts of my being. It was an extremely subtle change, one that only someone as sensitive as I could perceive. I fell in love with this energy. I decided then and there to follow Practitioner Su forever, until I learned how to generate this energy myself. I hid in a space near Practitioner Su’s feet, thinking I could stay there forever and continue to absorb this energy. To my surprise, after only one day, I was pulled out by Practitioner Su."

A New Life as Shi Jinghao

"The moment I was brought out of that space, I could only say one thing: 'Incredible!' It was truly incredible, for Practitioner Su had actually detected my presence and was able to pull me out. Now, I have been brought by Practitioner Su to this place called the 'Western Land of Dharma Nature'. It is filled with energy. I am sitting on this lotus seat, and my entire body feels relaxed, so comfortable, so enjoyable! I would rather stay here now than ever return to my past domain.

I have already learned this 'Namo Amituofo' Buddha-name. From yesterday until now, I have been able to chant it clearly. These sounds were something I had never heard in my past space, but in order to obtain this energy, I worked hard to learn them. Even if Practitioner Su were to let me go, I could chant this Buddha-name myself to replenish my energy, without needing to go to other planets to scavenge. Looking at it this way, there is no need for me to be a demon anymore. Chanting this Buddha-name is enough; it is far easier."

"I am growing more fond of Earth; it is truly interesting. Observing the humans on Earth—these practitioners here with Practitioner Su—they look quite different from us. Their walking, speaking, and movements are all different, yet I can feel the purity within them. There is no evil like that found in the Demon Realm; in fact, each of them even emits a faint light. It is quite miraculous. At this moment, I am seated, ready to listen to Practitioner Su give a Dharma talk. I am waiting to hear what kind of teachings humans listen to. I am very much looking forward to it.

Practitioner Su has given me the Dharma name 'Shi Jinghao'."

Reflections on the Thrice Yearning Ceremony

Shi Jinghao (Moli Xiu) shares his reflections on participating in the Thrice Yearning Ceremony:

— The Immense Energy

"Sitting upright on the lotus seat, I have finally adapted after these few days. In the Milky Way, I was always accustomed to flying everywhere; I was never used to stopping, and it was even more impossible to imagine myself sitting quietly on a lotus seat for days, listening to Practitioner Su give Dharma talks. Seeing myself now, I find it hard to believe. I cannot help but ask myself, 'Are you really Moli Xiu?' I laugh and answer myself, 'No, I am no longer Moli Xiu. I am now Shi Jinghao. Jinghao can attain purity, and no longer dwell on the past.'

Having listened to Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks for several days, every time I listen, my heart is purified once more. Since becoming a demon, my heart had never been at peace. This is the first time. It is such a miraculous feeling; I am deeply intoxicated by it, feeling the beauty of purification."

"Now, I have placed Practitioner Su in the highest, most revered position in my heart, far surpassing the demon kings I once worshipped. It is not that I am ungrateful or betraying my demon king, but I now clearly see that Practitioner Su’s actions are what are truly worth learning. I even want to tell the demon king I worshipped: 'Let go early, and come to seek deliverance from Practitioner Su. You will certainly not regret it.'

I believe that with my demon king’s abilities, he must already know I am here, and he must be able to hear what I am saying to him. Originally, I could not hear the replies from my demon king, but as I slowly chant the Buddha-name and calm my heart, I can clearly hear him speaking to me from a distant planet. He told me, 'I am observing your changes.'

I understand what the demon king means. He wants to see what I will become after coming to Practitioner Su. Perhaps he thinks well of it, or perhaps he does not. It does not matter. I am striving to change myself, doing my best to learn the compassion of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. I believe my change can transform my demon king, making him willing to believe in the Buddha as well. If my demon king is willing to believe in the Buddha and remove his demon nature, then those who will be saved will not just be my demon king, but immeasurable and boundless 'demon children and grandchildren' who can all be saved together."

The Power of the Dharma Body

"Today is the first day of the Dharma assembly, and I have been looking forward to it since early on. Before the assembly even began, I could feel the energy in the field constantly rising; the entire energy field was preparing to operate. I am extremely sensitive to energy because, on the planets, I was always searching for it. One must have a very high level of sensitivity to find the most energy in the shortest amount of time.

Finally, the assembly began, and the energy in the field soared rapidly. When Practitioner Su utilised his Dharma Body for Chao Du, the energy at the scene appeared in massive, overwhelming quantities. The immense energy and golden light enveloped the entire venue, extending into vast, boundless layers of space. In my eyes, the energy I saw at this moment far surpassed all the planets I had ever seen in the past. It was truly awe-inspiring.

I followed Practitioner Su, carefully observing him as he performed the Chao Du. His Dharma Body manifested into countless manifestations—'countless' is merely a numerical metaphor; in reality, there were even more. Wherever there were spirits in space willing to seek deliverance, and where the Causal Conditions were ripe, Practitioner Su’s Dharma Body would manifest, instantly entering that space to lead the spirits away, guiding them toward the golden light.

Being particularly sensitive to energy, I carefully observed the flow and changes of the energy throughout Practitioner Su’s Dharma Body deliverance process. I clearly saw that wherever the six-character Buddha-name passed, energy was brought into those spaces. The spirits in those spaces received this energy, were purified and transformed once again, and batch after batch of spirits became willing to leave and seek Chao Du. Turning my head, I saw many spirits from various star systems also coming to seek deliverance from Practitioner Su. I greeted them and introduced them to Practitioner Su’s Dharma Body deliverance. These interstellar spirits had long known of Practitioner Su’s abilities and had specifically come to the assembly today to seek Chao Du.

I never imagined that a human on Earth could cultivate such skills, using the Dharma Body to save their own planet, and not just Earth—even the spirits throughout the Milky Way could be saved. The scene I witnessed today was magnificent, far surpassing all the various phenomena in the Milky Way. I watched without blinking, and I even participated, chanting the Buddha-name and helping sentient beings go to the Western Land.
