The Demon's Confession: An Ancient Being's Encounter with Namo Amituofo
An Interview with Mo Zun, an Ancient Demon of 8.5 Billion-Billion-Trillion Years
Recorded at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre
This is a record of an interview with Mo Zun, an ancient demon who has existed for 8.5 billion-billion-trillion years. He sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, after attempting to attack Practitioner Su. He now resides in the Western Land of Nature. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on March 24, 2026.
Mo Zun speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Mo Zun. Today, I have undergone such a massive transformation in my status that I truly cannot keep up with the change! I have always been a demon who was extremely active across all the major realms. My 'demon children and grandchildren' are truly spread across the entire universe. When I say they are spread across the entire universe, I mean they are not just in the Dharma Realm space where I reside, or in the human world, or within the space of Earth. They exist in other spaces as well—in the cosmos, the Milky Way, the heavens beyond the heavens, and in the realms of demonic beings and external paths. It is a truly vast and complex demonic system.
If you were to break it down layer by layer, I suppose I would be considered a 'big boss' to many of these demons. Our demonic system does not have me as the single highest leader, but I am certainly one of the most significant leaders within it. This is because my 'age' is incredibly high—eighty-five billion-billion-trillion years—and the Dharma Realm I inhabit is one of the centres of all space. Therefore, within my demonic system, I am considered a demon of high virtue and prestige! Though, to say 'high virtue' is perhaps an exaggeration; what virtue could we demonic beings possibly possess? When I say 'high virtue,' I am referring to my high level of 'magic,' my advanced techniques, and the sheer volume of evil deeds I have committed, which is why I am so respected by the demon crowds. That is the defining characteristic of my leadership as Mo Zun.
The Catalyst for Confrontation
The reason I am accepting this interview today is that Namo Amituofo has specifically named me as the subject. I suspect this has everything to do with my recent large-scale attack on Practitioner Su. You guessed correctly. If I had not led my demon children and grandchildren in a massive assault on Practitioner Su’s head and throat, I would certainly not have had the opportunity to arrive at the Western Land of Dharma Nature today, let alone sit here for an interview.
We have been disconnected from the beings of the human world since ancient times. We control people, yet they remain completely unaware of our existence. They cannot touch us, nor can they see through us. However, we can see every single thought and idea deep within their hearts with absolute clarity. We understand them far better than even their closest loved ones ever could!
The Shock of the Great
This time, Practitioner Su caught my attention because the large-scale Chao Du [Spiritual Deliverance] actions she conducted on the sacred land of China—the Earth—have shocked many of the old demons and ancient demons in our Dharma Realm. At the time, I had no intention of taking any action. But my demon children and grandchildren were constantly orbiting around me, telling me how many of their brothers and sisters had fallen into trouble, how their demon palaces had been destroyed beyond recognition, and how many of their kind had been forced onto this path. They begged me, pleading with me to do something to protect them.
In truth, because my demon children and grandchildren and our demon palaces are spread across so many spaces, I was not at all afraid of a few palaces being destroyed. At worst, we could just build new ones, or the demon children could simply squeeze together and live in the palaces that hadn't been destroyed. It was no big deal. But this time, they kept telling me that the situation was far from simple. I have at least a thousand demon palaces in China alone—a massive number—and every single one of them was magnificent, opulent, and highly representative of our power. When I say 'representative,' I mean our designs were incredibly meticulous, noble, and elegant. Every decoration was crafted after rigorous consideration of local customs and traditions, making each one unique and incomparably grand. Furthermore, we had stored many precious 'trophies' within these palaces—items truly worthy of collection. If these palaces were to be destroyed, would that not be a terrible waste?
The Unreachable Heart
My demon children and grandchildren have always been loyal to me, and their pleas were relentless. They sincerely begged me, saying that each demon palace was the result of their painstaking efforts over many years. They told me I could not abandon them and had to do something. In reality, I was quite comfortable staying in the Dharma Realm. I usually didn't bother asking what was happening to them; they only came to me when they truly needed me to make a major decision.
Alas, that is how an old demon should be. I had not 'entered samadhi' for a long time, which was already a huge risk, and now they wanted me to be active in all these different places? That was impossible. I have always stayed quiet, not daring to stir up any thoughts, only responding when they truly had an urgent matter. But this time, what on earth could have happened to shock the demon children on this tiny Earth so deeply? I could no longer suppress my temper. I decided to see what this great Chao Du action in China had to do with Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, and what kind of deliverance they were actually performing.
Well, I had been 'closed off' for so long—it was practically no different from entering samadhi—and I truly had no idea what was happening in the outside world. Now, I decided to poke my head out and properly understand this figure, Practitioner Su. I possess the ability of 'reading minds,' so observing Earth from the perspective of the Dharma Realm is a very simple task. I tried hard to find this person, Practitioner Su, to see what her heart was thinking and doing. Upon observing, I was stunned: I could not find Practitioner Su’s heart! I had no idea what her thoughts were. I only heard the sound of the Buddha-name echoing from within her heart: 'Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo...' The sound of the Buddha-name was so dignified and beautiful; it sounded as if it were being chanted by Practitioner Su herself.
A Realisation of Power
Hmm, at that moment, I truly began to look at Practitioner Su with new eyes. It seemed she was a person who truly practiced, a person who had truly 'realised her true nature and attained Buddhahood.' She was no ordinary person. And since she followed Namo Amituofo, she was certainly on the path to Buddhahood. The reason she is called 'Practitioner Su' is that after she realised her true nature and attained Buddhahood in the human world, the vast number of beings and demon crowds naturally began to call her 'Practitioner Su.' With that word 'Buddha' attached to her, my heart grew cold. It seemed impossible for my demon children and grandchildren to reclaim their demon palaces in mainland China. If a Buddha comes to take the demon palaces away, they are surely being taken to a good place. The palaces would naturally disappear, and that would be that.
However, my demon children and grandchildren looked completely frustrated. They hadn't been taken away by Practitioner Su this time; instead, they came to me. I intended to observe the full sequence of events before communicating with them properly. Upon observing, I was shocked again. I saw Practitioner Su, and her skills were far, far higher than I had imagined. She is a female lay practitioner in the human world, following Namo Amituofo through her own efforts, and after realising her true nature, she began this great Chao Du action.
This great Chao Du is not just happening on Earth—China is a large country, and Earth is just one planet—it is not limited to this scope. I only then realised that Practitioner Su’s activities have been occurring throughout the Dharma Realm all along. Perhaps I had truly closed myself off too deeply, missing such an important development. Heavens, I saw the scene of Practitioner Su performing Chao Du in the Dharma Realm, as well as for demons in the cosmos, the heavens beyond the heavens, and other realms. I finally understood that Practitioner Su’s skills are so profound that I cannot simply ignore her if I choose to. If I do not take action today, if I do not do something, then I am simply letting Practitioner Su continue to develop. Never mind the demon palaces on Earth or in China disappearing—my own existence as Mo Zun and the power of our massive demon group, distributed across so many spaces, would sooner or later be completely dismantled!
Thinking of that day, my heart trembled. It was truly terrifying! I did not want such a thing to happen, and I did not want to pretend that it didn't matter if a few demon palaces disappeared. No, we must have principles in what we do. A demon palace is a demon palace; it is the most important base upon which we rely for survival. If Practitioner Su’s skills are so perfect and flawless that she can destroy our palaces, I will certainly strive to find a gap, a weakness, to let Practitioner Su experience the same feeling we have. At this point, my heart went cold, and I was gasping for breath. My demon children and grandchildren found me and asked, 'Old Demon, Old Demon, what is wrong?' I regained my composure and told them, 'Rest assured, I have decided to take charge for you.' They all let out a long sigh, as if the tense atmosphere had instantly relaxed. They have always trusted me deeply, completely obeying every action I take without daring to disobey, and they have absolute faith in my skills.
At that moment, arrogance arose in my heart. Even though Practitioner Su is a Buddha, does she not still have a physical body? The physical body is very fragile. Our group of demon children and grandchildren is so vast; it would be the simplest thing in the world to summon a troop to attack Practitioner Su. Although the destroyed demon palaces could not be recovered, we had to ensure that Practitioner Su’s subsequent Chao Du actions would not continue to destroy our palaces. We had to hold this bottom line. I told everyone to enthusiastically join this volunteer army and return to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia—the location of Practitioner Su’s physical body—to launch a massive attack on her. I, Mo Zun, had to make full preparations. By 'full preparations,' I mean that although we are far away in the Dharma Realm, we must identify the location of Practitioner Su and find the most vulnerable parts of her body to launch a targeted, massive attack. Because I had heard that Practitioner Su’s skills were extremely high and that few demon crowds in the Dharma Realm could contend with her, I could not help but feel a little afraid, but I was willing to try to break through."
From a great distance, we caught sight of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. This single observation left us utterly stunned—this place is truly extraordinary! Although the Earth is not large, it contains many nations, vast lands, and countless people. Yet, this one location—the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre—stands out in the universe and the Dharma Realm as a tiny point that can be seen from the furthest reaches. Though the place is small, it radiates an incomparably brilliant light. This is not something that could be achieved by any human effort; it is only because of the natural resonance between the hearts of the Buddha and Bodhisattvas that such a magnificent piece of land could exist. The golden light it emits can actually illuminate the very edges of the Dharma Realm, allowing all beings and demon crowds to see at a single glance that this is a place where a Buddha resides.
The Strategy of the Demon Realm
At that moment, I, the Demon Lord, summoned my demon children and grandchildren to hold a grand meeting. We discussed Practitioner Su’s daily routine, the optimal timing for our magical attacks, and the specific parts of to target. When we learned that Monday is the day Practitioner Su delivers Dharma talks at the Namo Buddhist Hall—lectures lasting nine and a half hours—we were overcome with excitement. To carry out our magical attacks over such a long duration seemed like an incredibly easy task!
Practitioner Su was focused on lecturing to the fourfold assembly and the beings of the spirit realm, so we saw an opportunity to strike while he was vulnerable. We decided that when Practitioner Su was deeply concentrated and unaware of our presence, we would attack his head, forcing him into a state of so that he would be unable to continue his lectures for the fourfold assembly. Furthermore, some of my demon children and grandchildren insisted on targeting the throat, arguing that the throat is the essential point for teaching the Dharma. They reasoned that if there were no voice, how could the Dharma be transmitted?
The Attack and the Unwavering Buddha
We split into two groups: one group launched a massive attack on Practitioner Su’s head, while the other targeted his throat. These two groups quickly took effect. We saw Practitioner Su frequently lowering his head during the attacks, his eyes closing slightly, then opening, then closing again. Practitioner Su was clearly aware of our presence, but the number of demon crowds casting spells to attack him was simply overwhelming. Yesterday, on Monday, he was truly being spun around by our demon crowds. Although we succeeded in preventing Practitioner Su from lecturing normally, after we attacked him, we felt a strange lack of satisfaction.
It is quite bizarre. Perhaps it is because we have never attacked a being of such unique status—a true Buddha? Perhaps that is it. Were we too impulsive? I do not know. Regardless, when we saw that Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks could not continue, my own heart felt a chill. It seemed that we could not truly strike at the root of his power, yet we had interfered with a Buddha’s teaching, and the for such an act seemed immense!
When I say we could not strike at the root, I mean that even though Practitioner Su was attacked while lecturing, he was able to recover remarkably quickly afterward and continue with his many tasks. Practitioner Su seems never to stop; regardless of whether the attacks are severe or mild, he continues his work without regard for any physical pain or suffering.
The Power of the
In any case, Practitioner Su is a Buddha; he has long since ceased to care about his own body. Our plan was clearly failing because Practitioner Su continued to use his countless manifestations to deliver beings throughout the world, especially in the space of the five-thousand-year history of mainland China, saving immeasurable and boundless ancient spirits. Furthermore, the term countless manifestations is merely a placeholder. The Dharma Body that Practitioner Su has achieved by realising his true nature and attaining Buddhahood can manifest as immeasurable and boundless small Practitioner Sus. These Dharma Body cells each surge out of Practitioner Su’s physical form to perform a great purification in various spaces. This is something Practitioner Su’s own skills can accomplish; it does not require the physical body to act. We were all truly terrified when we heard this, and we decided to return to our headquarters to carefully consider these issues before making any further plans. In truth, the very moment we began to contemplate these matters, we had already attracted Practitioner Su’s attention; he simply had not yet taken action against us.
The Collapse of the Demon Palace
We were originally considering returning to the demon palace to arrange our next steps and to analyse all these matters regarding Practitioner Su. Yet, in an instant, we heard the sound of Practitioner Su striking the qing. The moment that chime sounded, the demon palace where I and my demon children and grandchildren were located collapsed instantly. Wow, we were absolutely terrified! Could it be that Practitioner Su possesses such a distant mind-reading skill? He knew our location in an instant and even knew to take my demon children and grandchildren along with me, directly leading us into the Western Land of Dharma Nature, this Buddha-land.
This truly gave us a massive shock. We never expected Practitioner Su’s speed to be so great that we would not even have the strength to respond. Practitioner Su mentioned that many demon crowds were lining up to attack him, so he must have known about our plan all along. Moreover, given that we had already begun our operations and had obstructed his Dharma talks, how could we possibly expect to remain unscathed? That was certainly impossible. We were already feeling quite regretful, knowing that we should not have acted so recklessly and should have planned more carefully.
A New Beginning in the Pure Land
However, what we admire most about Practitioner Su is that after arriving in the Western Land of Dharma Nature and sitting on the lotus seat for just a short period of purification, we all suddenly became enlightened and clear-headed. Only then did we realise that this is the beginning of a truly good life.
When we were demons, did we not live only for control, for sensory pleasure, and for energy? We lived so miserably, building so many demon palaces and hoping they would last forever, never realising that all of this was merely an illusion. When Practitioner Su kept repeating that the demon palaces were illusory, we were initially unable to believe him. But when we saw not only our own palace but the palaces of other demon crowds collapsing before our eyes, we finally discovered that everything we had built no longer existed. We realised that the demon palaces we considered so precious could be destroyed so easily. We have now given up on that life, knowing that it is better to be a Buddha than a demon. While being a demon may provide sensory pleasure and temporary satisfaction, the suffering one must endure afterward is truly endless.
We truly know we were wrong. We marvel at Practitioner Su’s skills and lament our own inadequacies. Today, we feel incredibly fortunate and grateful for all of this. If not for what happened today, who knows when we might have been captured to face our retribution, with no chance of rebirth? This can be called a gift from the heavens, allowing us to be reborn, to start over as good people, and to cultivate diligently in the Western Land of Dharma Nature. If our skills can be improved so that we may help more people in the future, that would surely be a wonderful thing.
Having said all this, it is enough; my mind is clear and bright. Gratitude to Namo Amituofo, gratitude to Practitioner Su, and gratitude to everything at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Now, the Demon Lord carries only a heart filled with and gratitude as I enter the next journey of my life.
Namo Amituofo.
