The Demon's Surrender: A Lesson in Compassion

This is a record of an interview with Moba, an ancient demon from the Milky Way who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Dharma Nature. This account reflects upon his existence spanning 6,626 trillion years. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fa, on March 17, 2026.

Moba speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Moba. At this very moment, I am sitting upon a lotus seat in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, listening to Practitioner Su deliver teachings on the Dharma. The Buddha's teachings are something I had never before encountered. They instruct people not to be selfish, and even to reach the state of selflessness. They teach the masses not to live for the sake of this physical body, but to live for the sake of all sentient beings. To me, this is an incredibly novel concept. Yet, seeing the immense spiritual energy that Practitioner Su possesses, I, too, wish to learn his skills. For now, I must continue to purify myself and diligently chant 'Namo Amituofo' so that I may one day have the opportunity to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

During the Body-Mind-Spirit healing session this morning, the sound of Practitioner Su chanting the Buddha-name purified my spirit. This Buddha-name, chanted with the Buddha's heart of compassion, truly possesses inconceivable merit. This is something I have witnessed firsthand. Although the people in the lecture hall could not hear it, all the spirits here in the Western Land of Dharma Nature could hear the Buddha-name resounding across the heavens, clear as day."

The Mechanics of Control in the Modern Age

"Right now, students across China face immense pressure regarding their education. People in the workplace, and even those in positions of power, are all obsessed with how to stand out and how to win. Competition and conflict have become the norm in the social climate, and this is the very domain I, Moba, have managed for so long. A 'competitive mind,' a 'comparative mind,' and a 'mind of gain and loss' are my most effective tools. Controlling the people of China today using these methods was, quite frankly, effortless. On one hand, it is due to the influence of us demon crowds; on the other, it is because people lack the teachings of the Buddha. They do not see anything wrong with competition, conflict, and comparison; instead, they are addicted to it, viewing it as a natural way of life. In such an atmosphere, I had endless opportunities to exert my influence. This is also deeply connected to the fact that the Buddha's teachings have been blocked in China.

My name is Moba, and I am an extraterrestrial demon with a history of 6,626 trillion years. Initially, I followed the advice of the 'big brother' of the Demon Realm and brought my demon children and grandchildren to China, as I had heard it was a paradise for our kind. Upon arriving, I found that to be true. Why was this the case? After observing the situation, I realised it was because the entire country of China, under our control, had long since been stripped of the true Buddha Dharma. Every existing temple was placed under strict regulation. Under such conditions, how could the true teachings possibly exist? This was exactly what we demons loved to see. My demon children and grandchildren and I have been controlling the people on this land, with the sole purpose of turning them all into our own kind, which greatly enhances our demonic power."

The Golden Light and the Defeat of the Demon Realm

"Recently, I noticed that the sky over China was constantly shining with a brilliant golden light. Many demons vanished under the radiance of this light, and I had no idea where they had gone. For us, this was certainly not good news. I could clearly see that the energy of this golden light was of a completely different nature than our demonic power. It was evident that the one who possessed and emitted this light was not one of us; they were likely an opposing force. Oh, this gave Moba quite a headache! I hurriedly gathered my close friends in China to discuss what should be done. Everyone reacted differently—some were furious, others were calm. Regardless, after our discussion, we decided that rather than sitting and waiting for our demise, we would strike first.

In the end, we, the leaders of the major demonic forces, decided to take the lead. We had already investigated and discovered that the one sweeping through the provinces of China was none other than Practitioner Su from the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Wow, I heard he is a practitioner who has realised his true nature and attained Buddhahood. This news was truly heavy. Although I had never met a Buddha and did not understand the Dharma, looking at what Practitioner Su had achieved during this time, and the sheer number of demons he had delivered, his results were nothing short of remarkable. We ancient demons could not afford to ignore him.

We chose a 'smarter' approach. Instead of going to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to find him, we used our abilities and meditative concentration as ancient demons to stay in China and lock onto Practitioner Su, launching a spell-based attack on his body. This was something we ancient demons were capable of doing.

And so, our group of demons, each from our own deep space within China, launched our attacks on Practitioner Su. We believed that with such careful operation, it would be foolproof. But who could have known? The moment our magic hit Practitioner Su, he instantly knew exactly where we were. It was inconceivable, yet it truly happened, leaving us in complete shock. Practitioner Su immediately used his countless manifestations to arrive in our space in China in an instant, using the Twelve Lights to gather all of us old demons into the Western Land of Dharma Nature.

Well, there is nothing more for Moba to say. I can only admit that my skills were inferior. Such a technique was unprecedented—to be able to detect our deep-space locations from so far away and deliver us in an instant—it truly broadened my horizons. In our Demon Realm, we actually respect a true practitioner like Practitioner Su who possesses such profound skills. The moment I was covered by the Twelve Lights, a thought flashed through my mind: perhaps I should surrender to Practitioner Su and learn his skills."

A Lesson in Compassion and Invincibility

"Now, after listening to the Dharma in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, Moba understands that this goal is not out of reach. As long as I can diligently chant 'Namo Amituofo' and develop the compassion inherent in my own true nature, I can unleash the full power of this Buddha-name and reach the same state as Practitioner Su. However, what I find regrettable is that Practitioner Su says practice requires 'borrowing the false to cultivate the true.' For us demons, although we often feel we are quite something—very powerful, even majestic, and able to do whatever we want—we must admit that without this 'human body,' we are helpless when it comes to spiritual elevation. We simply cannot achieve the realisation of our true nature and attain Buddhahood, a fact we demons must acknowledge.

In this universe, there is nowhere that is not governed by the Universal Principles, Truth, and the Right Path. It is precisely because we demons lack a human body and have entered the Demon Realm that we can do whatever we want in the spiritual realms; but the consequence of creating so much negative karma is that we will eventually be punished by the laws of karma and cause and effect. Many ancient demons know this, but we have no solution, so we just live day by day.

The Dharma-luck of this land of China has reached the so-called age of the Dharma’s decline, and the Buddha's teachings have been blocked. This fate was long destined for China, so for us ancient demons, we were quite happy to go with the flow. We believed that under such circumstances, we would not be pulled away to suffer the consequences of our karma. Sure enough, many of our predecessors who came to China to 'develop' proved through their own experiences that this was indeed a viable path.

Once this secret was known, even more demons flocked to this land, especially the ancient demons, all wanting a piece of the action. Now, here in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I have been observing Practitioner Su's deliverance work. After all, observation is the first step to learning a skill, so I have been watching very closely how he performs Chao Du.

This time, I discovered that during the great deliverance in China, Practitioner Su truly unleashed the Buddha's power. Many demon palaces were reduced to nothingness under the Twelve Lights of Amituofo that Practitioner Su brought. It was that simple—touched by the light, they collapsed and vanished without a trace. The ancient demons, old demons, demon kings, and their children and grandchildren who saw this with their own eyes found it hard to believe. Many demons even rubbed their eyes, thinking, 'Am I dreaming?'

I have found that Practitioner Su is truly dedicated to the land of China, spending a very long time every day performing deliverances there. This has indeed terrified the demon crowds across China, which is why many demons united to cast spells against him, causing injury to his body. Fortunately, Practitioner Su has the ability to travel back and forth to the Western Pure Land, so he is often able to recover to a healthy state very quickly. This can truly be called invincible. But what is the secret to his invincibility? Through my observations, I have found that it is because Practitioner Su has no opposition toward the demons in his heart. He truly treats the demons as he treats himself, feeling compassion for the suffering they endure and making a vow to save them. It is this natural, sincere heart that allows him to reach a state of invincibility. I can only say that the power of compassion is truly that great—something Moba, in the Demon Realm, never knew before. Now, through the 'shocking education' Practitioner Su has given me, I finally understand this."

A Call to My Fellow Ancient Demons

"Now, here in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, besides chanting 'Namo Amituofo' every day, I am also working very hard to learn Practitioner Su's heart of compassion. This is not easy, but I believe that heaven does not disappoint those who are determined, and one day I will succeed. This time, Practitioner Su began his astonishing feat of sweeping through the Demon Realm in China, and the demons' counterattacks did indeed cause serious injury to his body. But to my surprise, I noticed that in a very short time, Practitioner Su's skills seemed to have improved again; facing the demons' spell-based attacks, he seemed to have even greater defensive capabilities.

Wow, this is truly inconceivable! Practitioner Su's skills were already beyond my imagination, but to think that such a state could continue to improve in such a short time. Listening to his lectures, I learned that this is because he constantly delivers and saves sentient beings. The more he saves, the more he bears the suffering of sentient beings, and the faster his own spirituality elevates, taking his skills to a higher level. This is truly not an easy thing to do; one must truly achieve selflessness and no-self, with only sentient beings in one's heart, to be able to do this.

Now, I want to say to all the ancient demons still hiding in China: 'Hurry and lead your demon children and grandchildren to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to seek refuge! Stop resisting! The Buddha has come to save us! Moreover, the Buddha's vows and actions are eternal and never retreat, so this deliverance will never stop. Everyone, just accept your fate. Practitioner Su is not trying to harm us; on the contrary, he wants us to enter the Western Land of Dharma Nature so we can avoid the fate of being pulled away by karma or being reborn to suffer retribution. This is a rare and precious opportunity for us to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss! We demons should be grateful for such great compassion; why are we still being so stubborn?'

In the Land of Dharma Nature, I have also discovered another characteristic of Practitioner Su: he has absolute faith in the Buddha. He believes in Amituofo without the slightest shred of doubt, which is not an easy thing to do. He has truly surrendered himself completely to the Buddha. Even when his body is severely injured, he does not change his vow and action of deliverance; instead, he performs it even more vigorously. This is completely different from the reaction of ordinary people—it is the exact opposite. Perhaps only by doing this can one possess such skills.

Practitioner Su's faith in Amituofo is very firm; he believes that with Amituofo's blessing, he will definitely overcome this difficulty. Therefore, when he encounters such attacks, his heart does not waver in the slightest, which is truly an amazing thing. In our Demon Realm, there is no one we believe in. After all, in such a world, everyone has such a strong ego; it is not about whether we believe or not, but rather that such a thought simply does not occur to you. Now, Moba also wants to learn Practitioner Su's faith in Amituofo, to diligently chant 'Namo Amituofo,' and I believe I will definitely be able to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. When the day comes for me to return to save beings, perhaps that will be the moment I attain Buddhahood.

I am now in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, and I call upon my old partners in China: I hope everyone can recognise the situation, make a wise choice, and come quickly to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to seek refuge. There will definitely be surprises you never imagined. Well, that is all for today from Moba.
