The Infinite Space Within the Eyes of Practitioner Su

This is a record of an interview with a demon named Mo Hui, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides at the centre and serves as a member of the salvation team under Practitioner Su. This account reflects upon his transformation and his observations of the spiritual nature of human vision. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fa, on April 4, 2022.

Mo Hui speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Mo Hui. The eyes are a mysterious place, a boundless universe of space. Within the eyes of every person, there are layers upon layers of space. I have looked into the eyes of so many people, but only the eyes of Practitioner Su are truly luminous. This is because Practitioner Su knows how to see only what is good, and he knows the importance of not clinging to the information that enters his eye consciousness. This is the most critical key! Nowadays, so many people have lost the spirit in their eyes; their gaze has lost its power and vitality. This is because people have developed the habit of looking at what is bad, or even worse, they absorb too much external information. They allow their eye space to be filled with too much impurity and clutter, causing their internal space to become chaotic, which in turn affects their own state of being.

The Luminous Reality of a True Practitioner

A true practitioner will have eyes that are bright and filled with Wisdom, just like the eyes of Practitioner Su. It is truly a miraculous and inconceivable thing. When we first saw the eyes of Practitioner Su, we knew he was a genuine practitioner, and we wanted to test just how powerful his skills were. But when we truly looked into the space within his eyes, we were met with a vast, brilliant light. We were genuinely shocked! We had no idea that human practice could actually reach such a realm. Practitioner Su's eyes are a space of immeasurable depth and endless light. We did not dare to harm him; we could only stand there quietly, feeling the energy of his magnetic field. It turns out that a human being can truly cultivate to such a level.

If we had not seen it with our own eyes, we would have found it difficult to believe. Having seen so many different types of beings, Practitioner Su is the only practitioner who has earned our deepest respect. In this Five Turbidities and Evil World, where everything is in a state of chaos, it is an incredibly difficult thing to keep one's heart positive, yet Practitioner Su has truly achieved it. Within his eyes, we can feel immeasurable compassion. Practitioner Su truly sees the goodness in the world and the goodness in all beings. This level of cultivation requires one to practice inward, towards one's true nature—how many people are capable of doing that?

The Arrogance of the Demon Realm

My name is Mo Hui, which means I know everything. I felt that I was incredibly capable, that I could do anything, and because of this, I often looked down on others. From the perspective of my own eyes, I always viewed things from a position of superiority, and I looked at others with arrogance. I believed that I was always right and that everyone else was wrong, because I felt that what I knew, others might not. Therefore, I was extremely arrogant; I only saw the faults in others, and I would never trust anyone.

This arrogant posture of mine is something that can be seen in many people today. When a person's eyes are focused on the negative, the energy they radiate is one of arrogance and sharpness. They always look at the people and things around them with a critical, scrutinising intensity. In the eyes of such people, there is always complexity, and their eye consciousness space is actually in a state of chaos. Because they absorb every piece of information and store the negative parts, they end up affecting themselves and creating constant interference within their own minds.

From Demon to Disciple

I was exactly that kind of person, so I understand this state very well. When one has such habits and lacks the awareness to recognise them, one is no different from the Demon Realm. One's eyes become like demon eyes, devoid of the Buddha's compassion, light, and Wisdom. I am saying these things now to see if everyone can take them to heart. Those who can change have the opportunity to cultivate to the same realm as Practitioner Su. He is truly a capable person whom I admire immensely.

I know that I am a demon. At first, I felt a deep sense of inferiority, but after coming here, I truly felt the compassion and equality of the Buddha. My heart has gradually been transformed. I know this is the blessing of the Buddha's power. I have begun to feel repenting, knowing the mistakes I made in the past, and I sincerely want to change. Now, I have subdued; I am willing to join the salvation team led by Practitioner Su, and I want to use my own strength to help all beings.

I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to come here. It was seeing the manifestation of Practitioner Su's practice, and the compassionate spiritual manifestation of Namo Amituofo, that allowed my long-wandering heart to finally settle and become willing to repent and turn towards goodness. I will cherish the days of practice here. I know this opportunity is not easily won. I will practice diligently, purify myself, and begin to learn not to look at the faults of others. I will practice with diligent practice to repay the Buddha's kindness.
