Heart, Vows, and Actions Follow Amitabha, Spreading Throughout Space and the Dharma Realm
I am Koo Chen-fu. To the older generation and those who have studied the history of political science, my name may be familiar. In the past, the Koo-Wang talks were considered a significant event in the relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. However, I do not wish to speak of politics today. To me, those matters have long since become like floating clouds and a light breeze. The concepts of right and wrong, success and failure, are constantly shifting with the tides of history and the changing of national leaders. Today, I wish to speak of something far more enduring: the world that exists after death.
My life spanned the worlds of politics, business, and finance. After I passed away, I carried with me the weight of both my merits and my faults. As the laws of the universe dictate, the heaviest karmic debts must be settled first. Consequently, the hells became my destination after death. The suffering there is beyond description. It is a place of profound agony. While we are alive, we must be extremely cautious with every word we speak, every action we take, and every thought that arises in our minds. Do not make the mistake of thinking that no one knows or no one is watching. Everything is recorded.
If you find yourself standing before the King of Hell, every single detail of your life will be laid bare before your eyes. Even if you are eloquent and skilled at debate, you will find yourself unable to offer any defence. You will have no choice but to bow your head, acknowledge your mistakes, and accept the consequences of your actions. The time spent in the hells feels incredibly long, moving with a painful slowness that makes every moment feel like an eternity of suffering.
One day, while I was enduring this immense suffering, I suddenly heard the clear, resonant sound of a bell ringing through the void. Then, I heard a voice calling out: "Koo Chen-fu, Koo Chen-fu, come up." Shortly after, I was enveloped by a brilliant light and brought to Practitioner Su. There, I began to listen to the sutras and hear the . For me, the Buddha's teachings were both familiar and strange. I began to learn again, chanting the name of and making sincere vows.
Initially, I was to be sent to the . However, I suffered from the common ailment of the modern intellectual: I believed, yet I doubted. Because of this, I first entered the borderland of the Western Pure Land. It was only after deep and sincere repenting that I was finally able to fully chant Namo Amituofo and enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
This is a truly magnificent world. Here, there is no need to work to earn a living, and there is no need for money, because whatever you desire is provided for you instantly. This is an environment of supreme Goodness, where it is impossible for even a single negative thought to arise. There are delicacies, beautiful dwellings, and fine clothing that do not exist in the human world. Whatever you wish to eat or wear, it appears the moment you think of it. Even the Peking Opera I loved so much—the moment I think of it, the beautiful melodies begin to play all around me. Even the sounds of the birds and the flowing water are transformed into wonderful music and teachings of the Dharma.
There is no pain or illness here. All the ailments I suffered from in my human life have vanished. My entire being feels refreshed, cool, and light. Every day is like spring; the temperature is perfectly comfortable, neither too cold nor too hot. There are no storms, no rain, and certainly no natural disasters. Everywhere you turn, there is a delicate, pure fragrance.
Such a wonderful place is waiting for you. If you have the opportunity to reside in the Mituo Village at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, you will have the chance to come here. To my many relatives and friends, if you have the chance to read this article, please believe that these are truly the words of Koo Chen-fu. I have washed away the dust and worldly attachments of my past life, replacing them with a state of pure elegance. I am now a part of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
I truly hope that you can also come here. My nephew, Koo Lian-song, and his mother, Koo Yen Pi-hsia, are also here in the Western Pure Land. They, too, were rescued one by one by Practitioner Su and brought to the West. Here, there are no past grievances or emotional entanglements; there is only a vast, peaceful serenity. This is a precious land that the human world lacks, and I hope that we can all be reunited here. I am waiting for you in the West.
To Koo Chung-liang, in particular: it is because of the karmic connection of teacher and student that you shared with Practitioner Su in a past life that we had the opportunity to be saved and reborn in the Western Pure Land. This includes your beloved grandmother, Koo Yen Pi-hsia, and your father, Koo Lian-song. As your uncle, I wish to express my gratitude to you. We are no longer in the human world, but you are in the prime of your life. If you are fortunate enough to receive this message, please visit the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. You will see that what I have said is true. Please remember to thank Practitioner Su on our behalf.
