This is a record of an interview with the spirit of a child aborted in 1985 by Lay Practitioner Zhao, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. The spirit now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on January 30, 2026.

The Spirit of the Child speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Namo Amituofo. I have been by my mother’s side all this time; I never truly left her. Mother, oh Mother, I have truly arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss! Are you really my mother? Are you truly the mother I have followed for so many years? Mother, I can see you now—you are truly my mother! It was you who helped me receive Chao Du, allowing me to reach this magnificent, beautiful place. Thank you, Mother!"

Gratitude to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su

"Beyond my gratitude to you, Mother, I owe an even greater debt of thanks to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. It was they who rescued me during my darkest, most agonising moments. They placed me within the Western Land of Nature, a realm that gave me the time and space to slowly soothe my turbulent emotions and to grow at my own pace. Now, after these past few weeks, I have arrived here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, where everything is so perfect and beautiful beyond description."

"Ever since the day Mother ended my life, I truly suffered for a very long time. But as the years turned into decades, I eventually let go of that pain; I did not hold onto that suffering tightly. Once I recovered, I simply stayed by your side, never leaving, just following you silently. For all these years, I have been right there with you, Mother. Every move you made, every thought you had, and every word you spoke—I was aware of it all. However, I did not choose to dwell on those things. I knew that the life you lived was filled with joys and sorrows, the bitter and the sweet—that is simply the taste of the human world."

Seeing Through the Suffering of the Human World

"There is an even more important reason for my peace: by staying by your side, I saw through so many heartbreaking events in the human world. Although it was not always sad, I was able to feel deeply that being born into this world is a painful experience; it is not a joyful thing at all. Because of this, I stopped longing for the human world, and I no longer felt that my own situation was so miserable. I once envied those children who were cherished and held by their mothers, but after staying by your side for so long, I truly let go of that desire. Perhaps this was another form of the Buddha’s toward me, allowing me to grow up in a healthier way while remaining by your side. Although I grew much slower than other children, over these forty years, I have finally grown into the form of a young child. I am no longer just a tiny infant."

A Final Message of Hope

"In this lifetime, I originally wanted to come to you to repay a kindness. I have a very deep karmic connection with you, Mother; in previous lives, I was also your child. I wanted to return to the human world to repay your love, but I simply lost the opportunity. Yet, this time, being with Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, I have no regrets left. My heart is incredibly peaceful and secure. I know now that my coming to you this time was simply to lead us both to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. Everything was the best possible arrangement. I do not feel sad at all; instead, I am filled with such immense Dharma and happiness. Mother, you must truly set your heart at ease regarding this."

"Mother, since you have been able to encounter Namo Amituofo in this life, you must seize this opportunity for the rest of your days. Let us chant Buddha’s name together and be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. We will meet again there, and by then, you will surely be a dignified, great being. Namo Amituofo."
