A Dialogue with Namo Amituofo on Awakening
Teachings Received by Disciple Fa Xi
Recorded on 22 June 2017

The Magnificence of
On the twenty-second of June, 2017, the disciple Fa Xi approached the Buddha with a humble request for guidance. He asked, "The magnificence of the Buddha’s teachings lies in the realisation of one's true nature, known as Awakening. I respectfully invite the Buddha to share His compassionate wisdom on this matter."
Namo Amituofo provided this profound discourse: The Truth is magnificent, yet few practitioners truly seek it. Many spend their lives wandering through the external world, losing their original nature in the process. The primary obstacle is the stubbornness of one's personality. You may engage in rigorous practice and follow the for a hundred years, yet still fail because your heart and actions remain unchanged. When the Buddha brings the to you, it is meant to be followed according to the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. If you do not speak the true words of the Buddha, you are creating heavy , and the consequences are difficult to fathom.
The Trap of Intellectualism
To truly understand the words of the Buddha is to begin the process of Awakening, yet this is often incomplete. If your personality remains unchanged, you cannot reach full perfection or true insight. Your practice becomes a wasted effort, merely a gathering of conditions for a future life. Is this not a great pity? How many practitioners today do not truly have faith in the Buddha? They are not genuine disciples; they are merely performing the physical motions of practice. They are not on the true path.
Many who call themselves disciples of the Buddha have entered the gate of the temple, but they have not entered the Truth of the Buddha’s teachings. They speak with their mouths but follow their own personal rules. They have not truly entered the path; they are merely empty, arrogant people. True practice is not easy. It requires the compassionate regulation of the heart. You must lead your heart with your heart, ensuring that your words and your inner state are in perfect harmony. When your inner self and outer appearance are as one, only then is your practice genuine.
The Nature of the True Self
To reveal the path of the true nature is to be a genuine disciple of the Buddha. This is how one attains eternal life, free from the cycle of birth and death. What is Awakening? Perhaps it seems difficult to imagine, yet it is something everyone possesses. Can you realise it? The original nature of a human being is the true nature of wisdom. It is all-knowing and all-capable. Just as all rivers flow toward the ocean, the Truth is one. If you see it as two, you are not in alignment with the Truth.
Why is the personality so difficult to adjust? It is because the ego is subtle. To know is to know; not to know is not to know. You must cultivate and adjust your heart. If you do not know how to study and practise, everything becomes a teacher. Even the smallest object or a spirit is a teacher. By showing respect to all things, you cultivate your character and nourish the wisdom within your roots. This is the essential path. It is about recognising that all things are of the same body, and through this, you nurture . Awakening resides in the heart; the nature is already within the heart.
The Path of Constant Practice
The Truth is always with you, accompanying your nature. Everyone possesses it, but you must activate it through practice. Do not let your life pass in vain, like water flowing away without a trace. You must be aware of the path you are travelling, ensuring there is no stagnation. This is Awakening. The wisdom of Awakening is capable of all things; it is truly easy to attain. It lies simply in letting go of attachment. You must adjust your character from the very beginning.
Where does practice lie? It lies entirely within your own heart. I have not spoken of complex sutras or theories here; do you understand? Learning the Buddha’s teachings is about knowing your heart, knowing the Truth, and knowing your intentions. This is far more important than merely reciting scriptures. I do not judge the study of scriptures, but the most important thing is actual implementation. The scriptures serve as a guide, representing the Buddha’s presence in the world. If you do not practise what is taught in the texts, you are betraying the teacher’s words. Your actions will lack true sincerity and will be filled with falsehood. If you live your life as a secular person, even if you are a monk, your time is wasted. In the world today, those who have realised their true nature are few.
The Call to Return Home
Many are dull-witted, preferring to follow lazy habits or familiar routines. They protect their own ego and pride, making it difficult to achieve anything. They have never truly sought the Truth. It is a tragedy to possess a human body and yet pass through life without reaching the ultimate goal. Whose fault is this? It is the personality that causes this disaster. Therefore, you must act; you must cultivate Goodness. The benefit of Awakening is that the vast emptiness becomes your companion. You can rely on this strength and move freely. Everything in the world can be handled according to the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, keeping you on the middle path.
Awakening is to be like the Buddha, able to traverse the vast emptiness. It is real and not false. It is the ability to manage all states of existence. The Truth is not a lie. Supernatural powers are inherent. True practice is to use Awakening to save the world. It is as easy as turning over your hand. If you seek Awakening and follow the true path, you will certainly be reborn in the of Ultimate Bliss. The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre has one sole purpose: to help you realise your true nature and achieve rebirth in the Western Pure Land. This must be done according to the Truth. A Message from Master Dixian
Teachings from Master Dixian: The golden image of Namo Amituofo has spoken these words personally. Awakening is truly necessary; do not delay. I, Dixian, was once mistaken. I had not yet realised the state of great freedom. Do not wait for the time to come; be ready to be reborn in the Western Pure Land at any moment. To be free in life and death—what could be more joyful? As long as you are completely sincere, you will realise your nature. This is the pure and the pure Dharma intention. I call upon all who study the Buddha’s teachings: do not merely engage in academic study. There is a vast difference between studying Buddhism and practising the Buddha’s path. I, Dixian, have been deeply moved by the Buddha’s words. I share this with you, hoping that all will return to the true path. The true Buddha’s path lies in the Western Pure Land. The shortcut to this path is right here. Do not waste these true traces. Namo Amituofo.
