The Gateway of the Eyes

Throughout countless kalpas, we have wandered through the six realms of existence. Everything our eyes have witnessed, in its immeasurable and boundless entirety, has entered our eye-. Today, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, through the of Namo Amituofo, we are able to invite those sentient beings with whom we share a karmic connection to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. The structure of the human body is subtle and inconceivable. We humbly ask for the Buddha's compassionate guidance on this matter.

The Infinite Ocean of Time

Namo Amituofo provides this teaching: The kalpas are immeasurable. Sentient beings are everywhere. Space is infinite. Time is a vast ocean of waves. The ripples of the past remain. All that has been done, all that has been witnessed—everything persists until the is fulfilled.

Repent for the past. Energy is never destroyed; all remains within and . This corresponds to our daily lives, never diminishing in the slightest. The structure of the human body is a microcosm of the universe. Everything relies on eye-consciousness to perceive the external environment. Though the paths of existence may differ, they all follow this same process.

The manifestations are myriad. Every sentient being carries these hidden seeds, from the smallest speck of dust to the largest whale or shark. Nothing is ever missing. What enters can be released, but the release requires the right karmic connection.

The Power of Compassion

The mind is the master of what is seen. Where does this connection begin? It arises from an inconceivable place. Throughout history and across all lands, beings have suffered from karmic retribution without ever knowing the cause. Now, it manifests before us. Practitioner Su observes this, perceiving the fluid within the eyes. Within this fluid are sentient beings from the past and the present, gathering from all directions to assemble here in this pure, sacred space of the .

The mind and spirit consciousness are one, and the eyes are a gateway. To manifest great power, one must purify the ground. Observe with sensitivity, look within, and listen with awareness, free from all obstacles. Observe the forms with absolute clarity. When the forms are thoroughly penetrated and the veils of ignorance removed, all beings can be liberated.

The Path to Liberation

And thus, they travel to the West. This is unprecedented, a healing art that transcends all history. Traditional medicine relies on herbs, trees, and grasses, as described in medical texts. It relies on learned techniques, medical instruments, needles, or the application of heat and cold. But one must also have a compassionate heart. The healer heals the heart; with compassion, suffering is treated and extinguished.

Healing usually requires resources—herbs, decoctions, and medicines. Today, Practitioner Su requires none of these. No medicines or decoctions are needed; his healing art is the original, compassionate heart. With a vow to save, he observes the eyes, extinguishing the wounds of . He relies truly on the holy name of Namo Amituofo. Purifying the eyes, the spirits within are released. When the vision is clear, the beings receive the response.

They know their destination: the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is a rare opportunity, difficult to encounter in hundreds of kalpas. One must recognise the Western Pure Land of to truly cherish this power. Save all those with whom you have an affinity. The heart-eye and the body-eye—the Five Eyes are distinct, as stated in the Infinite Life Sutra (The Buddha Speaks the , Infinite Life, Adornment, Purity, Impartiality, and Sutra):

  • The Flesh Eye:
  • Selects and discerns. The Heavenly Eye:
  • Reaches and perceives. The Dharma Eye:
  • Is pure and clear. The Wisdom Eye:
  • Sees the truth. The Buddha Eye: Is complete and perfect.

Make good use of your roots. Pierce through what you see to help suffering spirits depart and be reborn in the immeasurable, pure land of Namo Amituofo.
