Dialogue with Namo Amituofo: The Magnificent Bodhimanda
Teachings from Namo Amituofo
Recorded on May 28, 2017
The True Nature of the Bodhimanda
This is a place of great dignity, a magnificent bodhimanda. It is the true , where Namo Amituofo naturally abides. The original wisdom of the Tathagata, the original nature of the Tathagata, and the original life of the Tathagata all serve to lead beings to the Western Pure Land. The Ultimate Vow of the Buddha, the great heart of the Buddha, and the vast mind-capacity of the Buddha are all in sync with this purpose. When we respond to this call, we are guided to sail toward the West alongside the Buddha, carrying out the work of spreading and achieving the great merit of the Pure Land.
The Fragrance of Purity
The fragrance of this pure bodhimanda is profound. It is the scent of dignity, the scent of the Dharma, and the scent of the majestic lotus, filling the ten directions. It is like the scent of ripening rice, the fresh scent of green grass, or the morning dew on a hundred flowers. This is the fragrance of dignity and freedom. Within this purity, the of the Tathagata is perfected, manifesting in the reward body and the transformation body to save the world. On the path of saving the world, our mental notes must be in sync with the Buddha, our vows must support one another, and our sincerity must be our greatest aid. When we share the same Dharma vows and the same Dharma heart as the Buddha, we will naturally receive the Buddha's support and assistance.
The Rarity of This Encounter
Namo Amituofo’s manifestation in this world is an encounter that is difficult to find even in a thousand kalpas. Those who are still lost in delusion must cherish this opportunity. Do not let this connection slip away, for the consequences of such a loss are immeasurable. The Three Holy Ones of the West have appeared in their full dignity to subdue the dust of the world, shining light into the ten directions, breaking through the darkness of ignorance, and guiding all beings to awaken. Through their , they personally lead us on the journey to the West, their majestic presence subduing the earth and saving all suffering beings.
The Unity of the Dharma Body
We must walk this path together, not falling behind. In the eyes of the Buddha, we are all one; there is no high or low. Our mental notes should be unified, without division. We share the same body, the same view, the same thoughts, and the same aspirations. This is the one Dharma Body, which is the Tathagata. We are all one with Namo Amituofo. Outside of our original nature, we have hidden filth and dust, obscuring the brilliant light of the original nature, leaving it dim and colourless. How can we wipe it clean? Only through diligent practice. We must protect this light and not allow the dust of to cover our original nature again, for if we do, the cycle of rebirth will have no end.
The Call to
When will you be willing to wake up? When will you be willing to leave this suffering behind? The pure Dharma Body is naturally free and clear, yet people remain attached to the and , trapped in worry and suffering. While worldly people focus only on protecting their own interests, the Buddha’s disciples understand that there is no self to protect. We must dedicate ourselves to the temple, for it is here that we see the pure Dharma nature. The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre has begun its journey, and its magnificence is beyond words. Do not underestimate this connection; it has already expanded greatly. Many beings have arrived, and the spirits of the departed are the first to come, kneeling and seeking Spiritual Deliverance. The space is wide open, for the spirit knows no boundaries; they are right here beside you.
A Final Exhortation
Whether you can take charge of your own life depends on your mind-capacity. You must cultivate Compassion, , and Selfless Giving. Everyone longs for purity and freedom, yet everyone remains greedy for the Five Desires and the Six Dusts. Why not wake up? Why not pursue your original heart? Everyone feels uneasy; why not seek the solution? As for the future of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, we must focus on the present. Hold fast to the pure and the one. Never forget the great vow of spreading the Buddha’s teachings, and never lose the sincerity in your practice. Honour the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha Jewel. The freedom of the Western Pure Land is already complete, and the cool, refreshing environment of the West awaits your return. Namo Amituofo says: Cherish this connection, for it is a rare light in this world. If you lose it, it will be difficult to find again. Rebirth in the Western Pure Land is not easy, while the cycle of rebirth is all too easy. Birth, aging, sickness, and death are natural processes we must pass through; therefore, you must be cautious and diligent in your practice.
