The Fleeting Nature of Existence

On the sixth of July, 2017, the disciple Shi Faxi respectfully requested guidance from the Buddha. Namo Amituofo offered these compassionate teachings to illuminate the nature of our existence.

Observe the world around you. Flowers bloom in a riot of colour, only to wither and fade. Birds sing and insects hum, yet their songs are but a passing breeze. The moon waxes full and then wanes into darkness. Everything in this world is subject to the relentless flow of time. There is nothing that can be held back, and nothing that can be kept. All things arise and vanish according to the laws of and cause and effect.

You have never truly possessed anything, for nothing has ever truly stayed. You are merely passing through this world, through every layer of dust and every fleeting emotion. When you eventually depart, you cannot take any of it with you. True wisdom lies in realising this emptiness, in understanding that nothing has ever been yours to hold.

The Illusion of Attachment

Why do you cling so tightly to desire and love? To do so is a form of madness, a path of deep delusion. Do not let yourself be trapped by such ignorance. Instead, let your heart flow with the wisdom of the Truth. You speak of your home, your bridge, your stream, your eastern room, and your western quarters. You ask who is yours and who is your kin. Yet, in the cycle of rebirth, families are merely groups of beings brought together by Causal Conditions. These relationships are not fixed; they are constantly shifting and reforming.

You may wish to carry your family and loved ones with you, but can you truly keep them by your side? You cannot control the conditions of the past, nor can you grasp the future. Every second, every space, and every moment is in a state of constant change. There is not a single person who can stop this process. The laws of karma and cause and effect are always in motion, and no one can escape the inevitable.

The Perils of the Ghost Realm and Hells

Everything in this world is subject to the transformation of emotion. Even that which seems devoid of feeling has, at some point, been moved by emotion. As you walk through this life, your spirit knows the truth, yet you remain silent, trapped in a state of numbness. If you remain attached to the things of this world, you will find it difficult to be liberated. If you remain attached to worldly emotions, you will find it difficult to be reborn in the of Ultimate Bliss.

The ghost realm is filled with beings who are trapped by their own relentless attachment. The hells are overflowing with suffering, caused by the evil nature of the heart. Because of the karmic debts that must be repaid, many suffer from illness, death, and misfortune. Why would you find this world lovable? Why do you not choose to leave? Many seek the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, yet their resolve is thin. Their hearts are covered in the dust of the world, even while their mouths recite the name of Namo Amituofo. When the final moment arrives, what thoughts will truly occupy your mind?

The Righteous Path to

To change your thoughts and be reborn is a rare occurrence. It is difficult to regain a human life, and thus, one must cherish this existence. Your mind and intentions are constantly weaving the web of your own karma. If you lack the foundation of the Ten Good Deeds, you will not be able to gather the necessary conditions for liberation. If you wish to be reborn, you must practise with sincerity. You must live the life of a practitioner and be prepared to face the end of this life with clarity.

How, then, should you proceed? You must hold fast to the Truth. You must reach your destination and never allow your faith to be destroyed. The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is a magnificent and rare sanctuary. Here, the is taught with absolute purity, following the true footprints of the Buddhas.
