A Father's Journey to the Western Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Wang Wenda, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his life and his transition to the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on September 1, 2023.

Lay Practitioner Wang Wenda speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Wang Wenda. To have achieved rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss in this lifetime is something I am profoundly grateful for. I am deeply thankful for the Causal Conditions that have allowed me to become the person I am today—a person entirely transformed and at peace.

A Purification of the Spirit

When my spirit was guided to the Buddha-land, I felt a magnetic field unlike anything I had ever experienced in my previous existence. It was a sense of absolute peace, a place where there is no contention or struggle. This environment allowed my spirit to undergo a deep purification, washing away the stains and burdens accumulated throughout my many lives.

I am so grateful that the Buddha was willing to accept me, even though I was a spirit tangled in knots of confusion and suffering. I also want to thank Liru for helping me receive Chao Du. Because of her efforts and the compassion of the Buddha, I have been reborn into this completely new and magnificent existence.

Reflections on Family and Karma

When I look back at my Past and Present Lives, I realise that everything is a result of various Causal Conditions that brought us together. Meeting your mother and all of you children in this life is something I hold deep within my heart with immense gratitude. From the bottom of my heart, I truly regarded each of you as my own children.

It pained me to see you suffer from a young age. Although the love I provided was perhaps not as complete as it should have been, it was only because I had never been a father before. I simply did not know how to be one. If there were times in the past when I caused you pain, I hope that now that you have grown up, you can let those memories fade. In truth, I always wished to be a source of strength and support for every one of you, but my abilities were limited, and I never knew how to express my feelings properly. I did the best I could with what I had.

A New Beginning in the Western Pure Land

Now, you are all walking your own paths. I hope that you may all live in peace and prosperity, and I thank you for the filial piety you have shown me. I am truly joyful that we shared this connection in this life.

I now understand that these connections are fleeting; they are merely a small cog in the vast machinery of our many lives. In the past, I created karma and suffered for it, but now, my heart is filled with gratitude for the Buddha-vow that saved me.

On this day of my rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I am truly filled with joy, for this is a completely new and magnificent transformation. I am thankful for all the good causes that led me here, and I hope that those who have a connection with me can also come to know and believe in this magnificent Causal Condition.
