A Journey from Darkness to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss
An Interview with Lay Practitioner Wei Dinghua
This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Wei Dinghua, the mother of Lay Practitioner Zhang Li. She sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the cycle of reincarnation to liberation. It was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxi, on December 24, 2021.
Lay Practitioner Wei Dinghua speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I, Wei Dinghua, am here to kowtow and express my deepest gratitude for the Buddha's grace. I am so thankful for this Causal Condition, which helped me achieve liberation from the cycle of birth and death, sparing me from having to continue wandering in reincarnation. Regardless of whether my family believes this or not, I must speak these words, for this is my true and lived experience.
A Life Beyond Imagination
The life I lead here is something that I, in my previous existence in the world, could never have imagined. Every day is filled with such pure, tranquil living, and every moment is accompanied by the uninterrupted sound of the Buddha-name. This has provided my heart with a profound sense of stability and strength. I feel as though my Past and Present Lives are constantly unfolding before me, much like a film playing on a giant screen. I found it difficult to believe that I had such a past; my heart struggled to accept it. Yet, I know deep down that it was the power of the Buddha that saved me, allowing me to finally break free from that cycle of suffering.
A Message to My Loved Ones
To my children and my family, I trust that this message will reach you. Since the moment I passed away, I have come to understand so many things. In this human life, there is so much that we cannot predict, and that is even more true when it comes to the matters of life and death! I hope that my experience can help all of you understand that, whether in the past or the present, our actions have many different consequences. I remember that at the very moment my life was fading away, my heart was filled with such helplessness, yet I had no way to stop what was happening.
From the Shadows to the Light
After I left the world, I arrived in a dark and gloomy place—the underworld. I was so terrified, so utterly lost. It was only when a brilliant light appeared and reached out to lead me that I was finally able to find peace and stability. My heart is now filled with immense and gratitude. I truly hope that my relatives can learn about this place, for it has given me such incredible strength. I know that the Buddha possesses infinite and has the power to lead everyone toward liberation, helping them leave suffering behind. I hope that everyone can come to know this truth. I am doing very well here, and I will be waiting for all of you in this beautiful Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss until we meet again.
With gratitude, Namo Amituofo. Wei Dinghua, with palms joined in reverence."
