This is a record of an interview with Li Shengcai, the elder brother of Lay Practitioner Li Ruizhen, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition from the depths of suffering to the peace of liberation. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on May 17, 2024.
Lay Practitioner Li Shengcai speaks:
". I am Li Shengcai. Today, I have finally arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss! I feel such profound regret for my past disbelief in the Buddha. It turns out that the Buddha is truly real, and the Buddha has helped so many beings. In the past, I was simply too stubborn and too self-righteous. Now, having endured so much suffering, I have finally seen the Buddha, and I realise how foolish I truly was."
"When my spirit first arrived at the Buddha-land, I was still incredibly restless. I did not understand why I had been brought here. Having just escaped the torturous punishments of hell, all I wanted was to return to the place where I had lived my life. I did not want to come to this place that felt so unfamiliar, so at the very beginning, I was actually quite angry. Now, I realise how truly ignorant I was. If it were not for my younger sister saving me, could I possibly be in such a wonderful state as I am now?"
"Ruizhen, thank you. Your brother did not know that you had chosen the right path. Now that you are at the Buddha-land, I see that everything being done here is to help others; it is truly a magnificent place. It is fortunate that you had such clear insight to come here. You must continue to follow the Buddha wholeheartedly and stop worrying about unnecessary things.
Now that I am in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I can say that everything is different from before. I have returned to the appearance I had in my prime, looking my absolute best. Please tell my family that I am doing exceptionally well now. I, who was once so hard-headed, have now begun to chant Namo Amituofo. I do this to express my gratitude to the Buddha and to Practitioner Su for delivering me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss."
"While at the Buddha-land, I listened to Practitioner Su give talks, and I saw many of my karmic creditors waiting for me. Many of them looked so fierce that it terrified me. I know that I have wronged them. When I was still a benefactor, I had begged them to accept the merits so they could leave quickly, but perhaps my sincerity was not enough, or perhaps they could not hear what I was saying. There are still many of my karmic creditors waiting. I know that I must study the Buddha’s teachings diligently to be worthy of my karmic creditors, which is why I made the vow to go to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is not just me who has karmic creditors; every single person is the same.
Therefore, I hope that my family members who read these words will begin to chant Namo Amituofo and study the Buddha’s teachings properly. Do not think that these are not my own words; I have truly changed. I have been transformed by the Buddha’s teachings.
I am so grateful. I have nothing else to ask for, and no further instructions to give. I only hope that everyone is well and that everyone chants Namo Amituofo. Gratitude. Namo Amituofo."
Li Shengcai bows in gratitude.
