Bearing the Suffering of All Beings at All Times, Thus Inviting the Presence of Amitabha Buddha
Heart, Vows, and Actions Follow Amitabha, Spreading Throughout Space and the Dharma Realm

On the twenty-fourth of August, 2017, a disciple approached the Buddha with a heavy heart, seeking clarity on the nature of our actions. The disciple asked, ", every single thing that sentient beings do, whether it be a small act or a significant deed, is recorded. Good and evil are both present, and even if the retribution does not manifest immediately, the time will eventually come. Even the beings in the Demon Realm, who have created heavy , must eventually face the consequences of their actions. I humbly request the Buddha's compassionate teachings on this matter."
Namo Amituofo provided this discourse on the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. He explained that the reality of the universe is exactly as it is. Whenever you produce an action through your Body, Speech, and Mind, a karmic seed is planted. Once a karmic cause is set in motion, the result will inevitably follow. There is no way to avoid this, unless one attains the supreme fruit of Buddhahood. All beings are connected by karmic affinity; everything that is arising and ceasing is subject to the laws of karma and cause and effect. There is no such thing as a connection that happens by chance; all connections are happening in the present moment.
Everything you grasp at is a manifestation of the Dharma. Within the Dharma, there is , yet the Dharma itself is constantly changing. If you allow your life to flow naturally, you are living in the present moment. If you attain the , this will be your final life in the cycle of rebirth. Whether it is sentient beings or insentient things, all can attain the same perfect wisdom. The beings in the six realms of existence and the four holy states all move according to their . We teach and transform beings according to these conditions, without the need for complex deliberation. Whether a being is saved or not, it is all happening in the present moment.
The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas act even without specific karmic conditions. Since they have no thoughts of their own, how could there be any concept of existence or non-existence? Even the concept of Goodness is just as it is. In truth, there is no good and no evil; these distinctions exist only within the heart. In the space of a single thought, one can turn from confusion to . If you look for the truth outside of this, it will remain forever out of reach.
We do not speak of what kind of connection brings us together, but we know that all beings are important. Why does the Buddha come to this world? The Buddha comes solely for the sake of all beings. When you perform a good deed, you are remembering all sentient beings. Naturally, a connection is formed, and even across ten thousand miles, you remain linked. This is because your intentions are stored within the . Because these intentions exist, there is retribution, and thus there is the distinction between good and evil.
If you were to have no intentions, there would be no Alaya to store them. Without that storehouse, how could there be retribution? How could there be good or evil? When there is nothing left to grasp, there is no you and no me. Everything becomes one, and everything is equal. We act according to the needs of sentient beings, having no self-interest; our only purpose is to serve all beings.
To be free of thought is to be pure; to have thoughts is to be stained. Purity and impurity are determined solely by the heart, for the heart is the master of all. When the water is still, the heart is calm; when there are waves, the heart is moved. Within this movement and stillness, the truth becomes clear. You must now understand the nature of the heavenly path, the heavenly demons, the demons outside the universe, and the internal demons residing within your own body.
What do we call a demon? It is a state where the consciousness is deeply heavy, where the waves of emotion are intensified, and where thoughts are harmful. These all enter the Alaya consciousness, creating divisions between you and me, and fostering the concepts of good and evil. This creates a state of muddy, turbid confusion. These layers of impurity manifest in your own body or remain hidden in your heart. When the conditions mature, the fruit will manifest, and the retribution will appear. What is a good result, and what is an evil result? The distinction between good and evil lies within the heart. When you must endure the consequences, you will suffer greatly.
This suffering is continuous, with no time for relief, because the actions you have taken have also caused others to suffer. It is difficult to pull oneself out of this, and there seems to be no end. Everything you do is something you must endure yourself. This is the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. Do not be lucky and think that no one knows. To think that you will not suffer the consequences is to be ignorant of the laws of karma and cause and effect, and thus the harm caused is infinite.
The damage done is endless, and when the time comes for the retribution, it too will be endless, with no foreseeable end. Only when the causes are removed and all evil is transformed can one find liberation and see the light of day. Until that time, hundreds of thousands of millions of years may pass, or there may be no end at all. It is like being in the deepest part of a dark, muddy swamp, buried under thousands of layers, never seeing the sun. At this time, Practitioner Su appears as a ray of hope for the beings in the plague and demon realms. His virtue is endless, and his merit is immeasurable. Having accumulated merit over countless kalpas, he is already a Buddha.
He has manifested in this Saha world, and you must listen to the truth. You must cherish this connection and atone for your past sins by good deeds. Within the laws of karma and cause and effect, merit and demerit cannot simply cancel each other out, but they can be transformed. The Buddha is compassionate; within the Truth, he helps all beings leave suffering behind and transform their karma. If you have truly repented, you will see the path to life. Hold on tightly to this, for the Buddha-light is compassionately manifesting. This is a rare encounter that is hard to find in countless kalpas. You must follow these words, practise them diligently, and do not let the Buddha's grace go to waste.
