The Turbulence of the Human Condition

On the eighteenth of July, 2017, the disciple Shi Faxi bowed respectfully and invited the Buddha to provide his compassionate guidance. Namo Amituofo began by addressing the nature of our internal struggles.

Human emotions are like a thousand shifting currents, forever changing and never still. Our expressions and moods transform in an instant, always following the dictates of our wandering thoughts. Because we are constantly reacting to these fleeting states, we often find ourselves lost in a cycle of confusion. We attempt to cultivate our practice, yet we waste our efforts by clinging to these illusions. We exhaust our energy on things that do not truly matter, and our practice becomes hollow.

The Wisdom of No-Mind and No-Action

It is difficult to avoid these traps, but the solution lies in the state of No-Mind and No-Action. This is not a state of emptiness or inaction, but a state of being free from the attachments that bind us to the cycle of rebirth. To have no-mind is to be superior to having a mind cluttered with worldly concerns.

Consider the journey of life as a road. How should you walk it? Even if you stumble or fall, you must continue forward. Whether you change your shoes, find a new vehicle, or pause for a moment of rest, the journey does not end. You must keep moving toward the of Ultimate Bliss. The path of practice is endless, and there is no room for idle wandering. Your mental notes must be stilled; do not let your mind be tossed about by the waves of emotion.

Expanding the Mind-Capacity

All skillful means are valid paths of action, and all choices made in accordance with the should be pursued with diligence. Do not drift with the waves of the world; instead, calm the waters. Look up to the sky and let the light of the sun shine upon you, just as the light of the Buddha illuminates the darkness. Your state of mind should be transformed:

  • Let your mind be like the sun, shining warmth upon the earth.Let your mind be as vast and boundless as the ocean.

Why do we allow small matters to create such large disturbances within us? We often forget that we are but a single grain of sand in the vast ocean of existence. We fail to see the infinite void beyond our physical bodies, and so we become entangled in the affairs of the moment, unable to let go. When our is scattered, our hearts cannot be at peace, our actions do not align with our intentions, and suffering remains difficult to dissolve.

Learning from the Compassionate Ones

In this life, as we travel through the Saha world, why do we need to use our minds so heavily? We should learn to live with no-mind. Look at the world with a smile; why not choose happiness? The image of Maitreya Buddha is a symbol of this very teaching: he asks us to let go of our thoughts and cultivate a heart of tolerance and vast capacity. To learn this is to be a true practitioner.

When you see events pass by, how should you practise? Often, we stop because our consciousness is stuck. When will that consciousness become clear? Do not see the faults of others; instead, examine your own heart. Do not be annoyed by small matters, and do not let your emotions grow large. In this world, the path of practice is one of purity and balance. In the ocean of , we must find in goodness.

The Unity of the Pure Land Path

The of the Dharma is never separate from our daily lives. When we see the world through the lens of goodness, every connection we encounter becomes a source of virtue. When I look at all beings, I see the face of Namo Amituofo in everyone. There is no difference; we are all of the same body and the same essence.

When the mind is free from discrimination, it can finally be at peace. Always learn from Maitreya, and always learn from Namo Amituofo. My heart is filled with joy, and that joy is reflected in my countenance. In this world, why should I worry about the suffering of others? I am happy because I am content. I have no obstacles because I have no-mind. I am not entangled in thoughts because I have already transcended them. I have only one wish: to be with the Buddha in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Everything else is irrelevant to me; I only offer my assistance when the arise.

I am always walking toward the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I represent the Dharma of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I have no other path; I walk only toward the West. If you wish to join me, we shall walk together. When I save beings, I do so without attachment, meeting them only when the conditions are right. If we are to walk together to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, then let us walk there now.
