Teachings from Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable Fa Hui.

On the first day of February in the year 2026, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju offered these profound insights into the nature of reality and the infinite of the Buddha.

The Infinite Horizon of the True Self

The true self is boundless and vast, extending far beyond the limitations of the physical world. Within this infinite expanse, all the virtues of the Buddha reside. These include compassion, wisdom, , the ability to let go, vast mind-capacity, inclusivity, and pure goodness. Everything in the universe—the six realms of existence, the four holy states, and the countless worlds within the Realm—is contained within this true self.

The vastness of space and the flow of time, whether past, present, or future, all manifest according to the state of the heart. When you realise your true nature, you see that things exist only because the mind perceives them; when the mind is still and unattached, these phenomena return to their original state of emptiness. To live in accordance with this truth, allowing all things to arise and pass without clinging, is to attain true freedom.

The Boundless Vows of the

Those who have realised their true nature, including the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and the great ancestral masters, possess a heart and actions that are equally boundless. They understand the suffering of all beings and are intimately aware of the difficulties that keep them trapped in the cycle of rebirth. Because the suffering of beings is endless, the work of saving them never ceases. This is the essence of being one with all life.

To guide our practice, we look to the Four Great Vows:

  • Beings are infinite; I vow to save them all. This is the commitment to leave no one behind, regardless of how many lifetimes it may take.
  • Afflictions are endless; I vow to end them all. This is the resolve to purify the mind and transcend the .
  • The Dharma gates are measureless; I vow to learn them all. This is the dedication to wisdom and the pursuit of the truth in all its forms.
  • The Buddha’s path is supreme; I vow to attain it. This is the ultimate goal of reaching Buddhahood to better serve all beings.

Every one of these vows is vast and boundless, reflecting the compassionate heart required to rescue infinite suffering beings. You must therefore practise diligently, cut through your afflictions, and purify your body, mind, and spirit. By doing so, you not only save yourself but also contribute to the salvation of others, ultimately achieving the supreme path of the Buddha.

The Magnificence of the Dharma-Nature Land

The Western Land of Dharma-Nature is also boundless. Even as it welcomes countless beings and spirits, it remains infinite in its capacity. This is because the heart of the Buddha is without limits, and the Buddha-land created from that heart is equally boundless. The Western Land of Dharma-Nature is a Buddha-land manifested solely by the mind; because the nature of the Dharma is infinite, we call it the Dharma-Nature Land.

The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is similarly boundless. It is the Buddha-land constructed from the true self and the Dharma-nature of Namo Amituofo. Within this realm, the space of the four lands, the three grades, and the nine levels is infinite. The number of beings residing there is limitless, and the dignity of the environment is beyond description. It is a magnificent Buddha-land defined by immeasurable life and immeasurable light.

The Living Buddha-Land in Our Midst

Today, the teaching master of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, Namo Amituofo, truly abides at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. The connections formed here are boundless, and the number of beings being saved is equally infinite. Through the presence of Namo Amituofo, this centre has become a true Buddha-land within the human world.

We encourage you to cherish this rare opportunity. By aligning your heart with the Buddha’s, you too can experience this boundless grace and find your way home to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
