This is a record of an interview with Steve Jobs, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his observations of the spiritual realms and the process of deliverance. Recorded by the disciple Shi Faxin on April 26–30, 2018.
Steve Jobs speaks:
". I am Steve Jobs. The speed at which we move here is powered by the great of Namo Amituofo. Time and space have shifted across many eras. What I record here are the traces of history—the monumental events that once occurred. Yet, how many memories remain from the trajectories of past lives? They have become individual spaces, where souls remain trapped, haunted by dreams, lingering within them. Sorrow and attachment are the shackles of the heart. Even after the physical body is gone, the shackled heart remains bound, lost and unaware of where to go."
The Illusion of the Ghost Realm
"Many have heard of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, but they have never seen it; it seems like an unreachable legend. Those who practise Buddhism while in the ghost realm chant 'Namo Amituofo,' yet they wonder why they still cannot see the Buddha. In the ghost realm, they try to introduce others to the West, but most ignore them. 'You are still here yourselves,' they think, 'why should we believe you?' Even the monastics in the ghost realm appear so dignified, stationed in temples within that realm. It turns out that in their past lives, they were obsessed with the Buddha and the West, but their entire practice was empty and false. They only cultivated an external appearance of dignity, and after death, they still do not understand the truth in the ghost realm.
These self-important monastics in the ghost realm heard the sound of Practitioner Su giving talks. At first, they did not know who it was. Hearing that it was a lay practitioner, they thought to themselves, 'If it is just a lay practitioner, I have no interest in listening.' One day, standing outside their temple, a vast expanse of golden light passed by. They could not clearly see who was leading it. It seemed to be familiar robes—a massive, majestic procession of monastics passing through. It was not like the orderly migration of birds, but a grand, solemn sight. The monastics were puzzled: why was the ghost realm suddenly in such an uproar? This happened one day, then the next. Some familiar faces began to disappear. Only after inquiring did they learn it was the deliverance team led by that lay practitioner from the human world. So, this is what Chao Du is! It is not merely the chanting of sutras or the striking of ritual instruments in a grand assembly. The monastics felt a mixture of admiration and astonishment. Yesterday, the sound of 'Namo Amituofo' rang out again. The monastics tried to chant along with the Buddha-name, and to their surprise, they were lifted up and flew rapidly toward the light. Before them was the West—the West they had never seen before. They cried out, 'I have finally seen the West!' This is but one in ten thousand of the occurrences during the Chao Du work of Practitioner Su. Every day, thousands upon thousands of spirits from the ten Dharma realms arrive. Everyone feels deep gratitude toward Practitioner Su. This daily event in the Dharma realm is the work of a true practitioner. I sincerely urge everyone at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to follow the footsteps of Practitioner Su closely. Let the spiritual realms and the human world work together to contribute to the Buddha’s teachings and all sentient beings."
The Weight of and the Power of the Buddha-Name
"On the winding paths, the spaces are filled with what we call 'spirit bodies.' When the light of the Buddha shines across the void, these spirit bodies seem to wake up from a slumber of thousands of years. In the bottomless depths of the sea, several spirit bodies appear trapped, unable to see the light of day, suffering immensely. No matter how they struggle, they cannot escape that space. A flash of imagery crossed my mind: if Practitioner Su had not brought me to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, I, too, would have had to endure such , simply because my overly clever mind in that lifetime created karma without my own awareness.
The trapped spirits were once military strategists or kings who launched great wars. The casualties from those conflicts were countless. The desire for power grew until it became terrifying; by the time they realized their mistakes, it was too late for regret. Everything they fought for—all those bits and pieces—seemed to be gained in the moment, but what they carried on their backs was a mountain of karma. How could they ever repay it? If one could see clearly through all the events of past lives, there would be nothing left to hold onto. The consequence of not letting go is to become a prisoner within these spaces. Today, with Practitioner Su leading the powerful Namo Amituofo salvation team, there is finally help in this void. If one does not wake up now, one will only push oneself into a space from which there is no escape. One must wait for the Buddha-name to open the space once more to find liberation. Cherish every day of practice; I encourage everyone to be diligent together. Namo Amituofo."
The Resonance of Compassion
"In the dark valleys where spirits have fallen, there is no way out. The wailing in these spaces goes unheard by anyone. Thousands of years have passed since they trod upon the earth, and they never knew how long they would have to wait. Today, in just a few milliseconds, they were brought out of those spaces. Their fearful hearts found peace once they sat upon the lotus seats, for they heard the compassionate sound of the Buddha-name. The sound of the Buddha-name vibrates through countless spaces. Since I have come to know the magnificence of the Buddha-name, whenever the Chao Du begins, I chant it loudly, hoping the sound will travel further and open more spaces.
Beneath a high wall, two sides of enemy troops were clashing. The atmosphere was tense, as if a war were about to erupt, with soldiers shouting over a border city. This is a space of history—a historical wound that still exists, unhealed, until this day of deliverance, when everyone was finally saved and awakened. Chao Du is not a simple matter. It is not just about holding a grand Dharma assembly; it requires a person of true practice and virtue, someone with the genuine ability to help the beings in the void. Today, that person is Practitioner Su. She is actively cultivating talent, and every single person plays an important role in the Buddha’s teachings. As long as one is willing to shoulder the responsibility of saving the world and makes the vow, there will be one more saviour in the void. I am willing to support this, to let the light of Namo Amituofo shine brightly."
The Magnetism of the Western Pure Land
"The Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is like a giant magnet, receiving sentient beings without limit. The opening of a trumpet is narrow at one end and wide at the other, but the gates of the West are infinitely wide. The Chao Du is incomparably magnificent. The Bodhisattvas of the universe traverse space at the fastest speed, not wasting a single second. The space of the human body is already infinitely large, let alone the space of spaces. Every region, every city, and even every square metre of land has its own past history. Spaces are stacked upon spaces, yet they do not interfere with one another. What Practitioner Su opens are the different spaces within each region. Each person exists in a different era, and a single attachment leaves the spirit with no exit. Looking out, I see different eras; the scenes of deliverance are like watching many different historical short films. In the end, everyone finds a good destination.
The starry sky, when looked at closely, consists of small stones or planets being illuminated. Looking further back, they are the remnants left behind by extraterrestrial families. They originally relied on the solar system to shine and stay warm, but they had never seen warmth like the Buddha-light—warm, yet not blinding. Most of them do not even understand what is happening! Some extraterrestrials who have visited Earth know this is a sacred moment and hurry to follow. They appear to be both male and female, though it is difficult to distinguish.
Sentient beings in the ten Dharma realms are all searching for a destination. Some do not know of the West; others have spent their entire lives searching for it. Every day now is very meaningful, as every day we help countless beings become Buddhas. I never imagined I could join Practitioner Su in saving the world. Now, all those who learn from Practitioner Su should cherish everything. Find yourselves; for every person who helps another become a Buddha, countless beings benefit. Let us work hard together with everyone."
