The True Trace of Life
Teachings from Namo Amituofo at the Hong Kong Thrice Yearning Ceremony
The True Trace of Life
To truly witness the authentic trace of life is the greatest achievement one can attain. Only when you have realised this truth has your life not been lived in vain, and only then will you be able to face the transition of death without fear or hesitation. Many people spend their entire lives searching for meaning, yet they fail to look within to find the source of their own existence.
The Aimless Pursuit of the Worldly
Without a settled heart, even if you live in a busy, modern society every day, what is the ultimate goal of your exhausted body and mind? Are you truly moving toward a higher purpose, or are you merely drifting through life, day after day, in a cycle of emptiness? You must reflect on this:
- Time is a precious resource that should not be squandered on trivial worldly matters.
- When your time in this world finally comes to an end, what will remain?
- Will you have gathered anything of true essence, or will you leave with empty hands?
Do not let your days pass in a haze of distraction. True wisdom lies in recognising that the material world is fleeting, while the path to is eternal.
Cherishing the Precious Assembly
My children here in this assembly, you have gathered today through profound Causal Conditions. To be able to come together for this Dharma assembly is a rare and magnificent opportunity. You should cherish this moment, for it is a significant event that transcends the ordinary boundaries of space and time. You must understand that this is a rare and wonderful occurrence, one that is not easily encountered in the cycle of rebirth.
The Path to True Benefit
Within this Dharma assembly, you must move forward with a sincere and dedicated heart. To gain the true benefits of this practice, you should follow these essential steps:
- Chant Namo Amituofo with single-minded focus: Let the name of the Buddha fill your entire being, leaving no room for wandering thoughts.
- Visualise the spirits: As you chant, visualise all the spirits residing within your body—your —moving forward toward the of Ultimate Bliss.
- Cultivate sincerity and : Chant with a heart that is not for your own selfish gain, but for the benefit of all sentient beings.
When you practise in this way, you are truly acting for the sake of all beings. This is how you will receive the genuine benefits of the Dharma assembly. Know that you are supported by all the Buddhas and that you are gathered here in the presence of Namo Amituofo. Namo Amituofo.
